Had a great time and love the food and old school feel especially right next to 2 colleges so it brings the old school Rah Rah vibe with the eclectic ambiance. Had the Macado and it was awesome. Enjoy your meal upstairs and outside so you can see Lexington. Can't wait to eat here again when we visit our son at VMI. Oh and the menu is never ending.

We loved everything about Macado's (pronounced locally as MacAdoo's), especially after our 7 hour drive from New York. Atmosphere is laid back, beers are cold, refreshing & affordable, the place itself feels homey & historical (it appears to be a large, old home with good, street-view balconies & several dining areas) & the sandwiches are absolutely huge & can be totally personalized, if you choose that option. Our server was friendly, service was unhurried, air conditioning was appreciated & it is in a good location on the main drag. We were thankful that, on a Sunday when so many restaurants & stores here close early, that Macado's was open & welcoming.

I usually go to the Macado's in Farmville but we stopped at this location for lunch on our way back from Roanoke. Our server, Tori, was very sweet and attentive to our needs. I got the crazy Chris wrap (my usual go to). It was pretty good although I like FarmVille's version better. The Lexington location is in an old historic house which is super cool and gives a relaxed but fun atmosphere.

If I could give more stars I would! Out of all the places we've ate at in Lexington, this was by far the best! The buns on the BLT and burger were so soft and sooo good! Fries were hot and fresh! Sangria, I wish I could make it that way! A little loud inside but it is a Bar atmosphere.. service was quick and friendly! Highly recommended!

Half of the best Chicken cordon Blue sandwich I've ever had. Ham very tasty and chicken was fixed to perfection. Choice of roll was spot on

First time ever in Lexington Virginia. Thought let's try Macadoos. Very glad I did. Potatoe salad was ExcellentThe chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich was spectacular. My uncle was with me not sure what sandwich you got but he told me it was possibly the best one he had ever had. If you're in the area definitely stop out

Excellent service here. Our whole family came in for lunch right after opening. Our waitress was great and attentive the whole time. Everything we had tasted awesome. I loved Macado's in downtown Roanoke in the '80s and the food here is just as good.

Amazing menu of Sammie's from rye bread to bagels!! Great staff, awesome decor and cool vibes! Has a big bar as well so you can get your burger and drink fix. I love coming back here when I visit Lexington, it's a must visit!!

Nice restaurant with a bit of a mom and pop feel. Stopped here on the way back home for dinner tonight and happy we did. The service was friendly and accommodating, seated right away, never had to wait for refills, and the food came out relatively quickly. Portions were definitely satisfactorily large and proved to be a good overall value when looking at prices. My wife got the chef's salad and had to take half of it home! If we ever came back through Lexington, we would definitely visit again.

Good food but restaurant needs a deep clean. Bathrooms are disgusting and the floor could use an actual mop and vacuum on the stairs.

Finally, the added bonus is that they were dog friendly-they had three tables on their front porch-we were fortunate to get one of those tables.

Hardens - Salad with chicken

Hardens

O.M.G. This place is simply divine. Owned/run by a local husband/wife who are both super cool…read morepeople. No reservations (like most places in town) so there might be a bit of a wait on busy nights -- but soooo worth the wait! The house specialty cocktails are all great (LOVE "Leaving Lex Vegas") -- especially if you are lucky enough to get the husband as your bartender! The tuna tostada app with matcha salsa was insanely good - the blend of flavors and textures was mind-blowingly good. Wedge salad with fried chicken and homemade ranch rocked! Lamb with pistachios was superb. This place is a true local gem!!

I visited Hardens with a group of people who all ordered several different things from the menu…read more Luckily, these people also didn't mind sharing food, so I got to taste a lot of things. The ahi tuna tostada blew everything out of the water. I am not even a big ahi fan, but this dish converted me. The fish was tender and was like biting into a marinated gum drop, if that makes sense. Your teeth just sink into it. Then there's the crunch from the fried tortilla tostada, and crunch from the radish slices and daikon strips. It's a textural experience, for sure. The next best bite was the fried Brussels sprouts, which were crispy on the edges and dressed with a dijon-rum glaze and studded with sweet rum cherries and candied pecans. Lots of rum happening in this dish, but you can't taste the alcohol -- mostly just the sweetness from the fruit and syrup. One order is a big enough appetizer for four people. Other notable appetizers were the Thai wings (covered in sweet chili sauce, chili oil, shallot, green onion and cilantro) and the mac and cheese, which is served in a small cast iron pan. Circling back to the ahi: Hardens has an ahi sandwich on the menu, and in my opinion, it's not as good as the ahi tostada. The tenderness of the ahi gets lost within the big roll they use for the sandwich. If you love ahi and really want to taste it, get the ahi on a tostada. The restaurant itself is nice, dark and open. It got really loud when we were there and every table was occupied. Everyone is basically sitting all in one room, so the sound carries easily here.

It's in Lexington, home of VMI, and the shop itself is diagonal from a post office built in 1911 with large columns lining its edifice. Sometimes, when college students leave great reviews, that means good food that isn't too expensive. True here, especially for what you get: generous servings on amazing bakery breads. I had the "Sorry Charlie" on a slice of focaccia -- topped with tomato slices and melted cheese and a satisfyingly crunchy, warm crust, with a simple but nicely refreshing black bean and corn salad. Dessert treats are also worth a splurge. The people couldn't be friendlier with customers of all ages enjoying themselves. (And they have a coffee bar. And a "speakeasy"!)

A soup and sandwich joint with lots of baked goods -- that's Blue Sky…read more It was a cold and drizzly day when I visited, and a bowl of butternut squash soup was the perfect thing. I also got The Yardbird sandwich after the server recommended it. It's basically just chicken salad and lettuce between a ciabatta roll, but it was simple and great. And what the heck: I can't visit a bakery that has multiple sweets without getting one. I also listened to the advice of the server when she recommended the orange scone. She was right again! It was tender and tasted like a Froot Loop. Blue Sky is located on the corner of a busy street. There are lots of tables, but if you can, sit at the bar that looks out onto the street to see the hustling and bustling college town.
