It's not just "a lot" of beer -- it's great beer. The food totally holds its own too. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and the kind of comfort food you want when you're settling in with a pint (or two). No afterthought kitchen here. We happened to be there on a live music night and wow -- what a vibe. The music was fantastic, the sound wasn't overwhelming, and the whole place felt lively without being chaotic. Really like this place cause of its fun vibe and bottle shop concept. Restaurant is clean, staff is super friendly, and they work hard to hustle for being seemingly short staffed. The ambience is so lively, I'd highly recommend for drinks. The three stars are for the food. I had high hopes some waffle sandos, which sounds amazing in concept and even better for the price point. We started with the nachos, which might be the saltiest thing I've ever eaten in my life. The chips and cheese was insanely salty, and the pork was so cold it lost it's texture and appeal. The dish was missing something that would have made this better, like pickled jalapeños or diced tomatoes. I do appreciate that they layered everything, though. Anyway, it was so salty it made me too bloated to eat much of my actual meal. My partner and I got the ham, bacon, and cheddar waffle and the Vesuvius for our mains. The waffles were okay, the texture wasn't consistent and came out soggy for one of my sandos. The ham and cheese one was better balanced, while the Vesuvius (a take on a pizza waffle) just didn't taste right. We're doing a quick get away weekend from NOVA (and COVID-19!) to visit this sweet little Virginia country town and staying across the street so we thought we'd try this restaurant out. Food (4/5): i got the "Pass" Wafflewich and hubby got the "House Mountain Melt." Both were delicious - we got the jalapeño cheddar waffle for both sandwiches. The Pass was good - though the black bean spread was a bit overwhelming. The House Mountain Melt was then best - absolutely perfect for a waffle sandwich. Thsi had a fantastic draft beer list and an entire wall of beer in cans/bottles. They also had ciders and wines, as well! Atmosphere/COVID: (5/5): This place was not crowded on a Tuesday afternoon and we felt safe there. All the staff was wearing masks. Our server really made our trip here worth while. He had the best recommendations for sandwiches and was very attentive and helpful. I didn't catch his name, but even the bartenders were very social and attentive. Great service here and the waffle sandwiches are delicious. Recommend the reuben and the Pass because we had them, but I suspect they are all really good. All ingredients made on premises except meats, which were high quality and fresh. So the menu is all waffle sandwiches or Wafflewiches. I have tried and like The James ( who doesn't like some creamy melty peanut butter) and the Brew Boy that is a take on shrimp po'boy. A nice selection of craft beers with rotating taps. Fun people too. As long as you don't want a full meal...it is a must visit. We only had beer and an appetizer. We were trying to kill an hour before meeting someone. The pace had a good selection of draft and bottled beers. They do a nice job of breaking them up on their chalkboard. Our waitress knew about the beers and could answer questions. The pretzel appetizer wss fair. Impressive selection of local beers as well as those from the area and other craft beers from around the country. I never expected to try an awesome pineapple cider in Lexington, VA but I enjoyed one as part of a flight. Waffle sandwiches are tasty as well, can't go wrong with the Chessie grilled cheese or the turkey sandwich. They also have a large selection of cans/bottles you can buy to take home and stock up. Friendly down to earth place that I'd definitely visit again if I was back in town. Be aware they're closed Sundays as far as I know so hit them up Saturday if you're in town for the weekend. read more

My friend and I finally visited Brew Ridge Taps after three years of waiting to be of-age to try their beers. ID's in hand, we both got some beers on draft, as well as their famous wafflewiches. Both were delicious, though perhaps not worth the hefty price. The biggest reason I am giving such a low rating is because the service was horrendous. The establishment was not particularly crowded, but we had to wait ten minutes after being seated for our waitress to even approach us. After ordering our beers, we had to wait another fifteen minutes before she returned to take our food orders. Later in the night, we managed to flag our waitress down again to order two more beers. She never returned. It was only after twenty minutes of waiting that I, fed up, got up from my table and physically approached the front to ask about our drinks. Another waiter later arrived with the beers we had ordered, and we never saw our waitress again until she arrived with the check. As great as the beers and food were, the lousy service was a huge disappointment. We will not be returning. read more

Pros: Good beer, tons of selection! Nice little spot downtown and not crowded for a Friday night. We both had a wafflewich, which were excellent! Great taste, very unique and overall filling. Cons: The service was not great. There was a max of 8 people in there for a Friday and it took 20 min to order... for a meal and beer that could have easily taken 30 min took 1.5 hours. Great little bottle shop and taproom just around the corner from the Stonewall Jackson House Museum. We were directed here by one of the museum docents and were very impressed with the huge selection of Virginia Craft beers available to drink and take with you. Their selection of craft beers from the south and beyond was impressive. Their prices were also reasonable. After spending several days touring various Virginia breweries we were able to pick and choose the best varieties to take back to North Carolina with us. Lexington doesn't offer a huge variety of food so I was happily surprised to find this little gem. Their waffle sandwiches and salads are delicious and definitely different from other area restaurants. I will share upfront that oddly enough, I visited a tap house without tapping into their brew. Consequently, my review may seem a bit limited, as I cannot speak to what they say is their "199+ bottles of beer on the wall." (This saying is likely due to the literal wall of beer.) I can however attest to Brew Ridge Tap's delicious pretzels, jalapeño honey mustard and homemade blended cheese dip. I enjoyed every last bite. Perhaps I should have been more adventurous and tried a "wafflewiche," a sandwich created between two homemade Belgian waffles, but after seeing someone else eating a pretzel, I was sold. Truthfully, they both smelled equally delicious though. Maybe next time I'll go Belgian. All in all, I'd say this place is a safe bet. The ambiance is fun and the bar food tasty, even if the service was lacking. It took some effort to get folks to be more attentive, but that won't keep me from returning. read more
