Went to Salerno's for a friend's wedding pre-party and it was honestly such a great spot. They had the place rented out just for us, and the whole vibe was super chill and fun. You could pour your own beer (which was a nice touch), and they kept bringing out different fried apps that were all really solid...definitely not your average bar food. The staff was awesome--super friendly and on top of things without hovering. It just felt easy and welcoming. Would 100% come back, either for a casual night or another event. We enjoyed our visit to Salerno's! It was not busy when we arrived midday, and our server was friendly. They have ample indoor seating and some outdoor patio seating, too. Street parking nearby. A large selection of drinks are on tap. We ordered two pizzas, a build your own and "nature boy" (add chicken). I thought the pizza was really fresh and the crust was soft. A delicious meal! One of my friends also got the chicken parmesan which they liked. Wanted to Love It, But Fell Short I really wanted to love this place--I was craving good pizza and had high hopes. Unfortunately, it didn't quite deliver. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, which was supposed to come with basil, but I couldn't find any. The BBQ sauce was overpowering, drowning out all the other flavors, and the crust was burnt on the bottom, which definitely didn't help. I ended up eating it just to avoid wasting food, but I honestly didn't enjoy it. That said, the service was a bright spot. Our server was as sweet as pie--friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was decent, nothing special, but comfortable enough. One standout feature: if you're a beer lover, this place might still be worth a visit. They have dozens of beers on tap and even offer tastings, which I thought was a great touch--even though I'm not a beer drinker myself. My wife and I had dinner here on a Saturday evening. We had eaten here before and it was horrible!! But we had heard that management had changed and we should give it a try. Good decision!! The interior has been renovated and the food was really good. There is street parking and also a free public lot across the street. There is also indoor and some outdoor seating. It has a fairly wide menu. My wife and I had a greek salad each. She had a BLT and I had an angus burger. Both were excellent! Our waitress Claire was excellent. But the best part of all was the beer wall. You get a card from your server and you can go and get samples of whatever beer you want and when you find one you like, you can get a full pour. They probably had close to 30 beers. There were fruit beers, lagers, IPAs, ciders, stouts, etc. We are often in Lexington and this may be a new favorite place to stop! read more

Brick fired pizza and pour your own beers from 30 taps. What's not to like? The wings were very meaty and had a great flavor, breading was a little slimy though, make sure you order well done. Pizza was great, nice crust as you would expect. It is a college town so there were a lot of students rolling in after 7 or so, but it's a pretty big place. Worst service ever. Waiters had a "Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp" theme costumes, which is bizarre. To bring a high profile sexual harassment and defamation case into a family friendly pizza shop is just weird. Our waitress walked by us, intentionally ignoring us, multiple times. Fried pickles appetizer took 30 minutes. Salad came out an hour after we ordered. Pizza tasted good, not great, but good enough. That is, until my dining companion bit into a chicken bone (see photo) hidden in her Hot Hunny pizza. Hostile waitress and dangerous bones in food. Don't come here if you're hungry. I really enjoyed Salerno's. We ordered 1 Supreme pizza to share as a little snack before going elsewhere for dinner in a few hours. It was so good that we ended up ordering 2 more and making it our dinner instead. We sat at the bar so our service was very prompt and personalized. When I asked how the card system worked for pouring a glass of the cider/beer/sour, the manager walked me over to the taps and took me through the whole process. I appreciated the time he took in assisting me and pointing out his favorites. A note on the renovations that previous yelpers have mentioned: My husband is from Lexington and he said that the pizzas were much larger for the same price before the renovation. I suppose they bumped up the prices to match the classier look, but regardless, we still enjoyed our time and the delicious food. read more

We visited with a group of 8 during SVU's Homecoming weekend. We got there at 5:30 and just got in before the place filled up with a wait. Our waiter was nice and got drinks out quickly. Sadly, things went downhill from there. We got wings in ~30 minutes, garlic bread 20 mins after that. Then another 45 minutes for chicken parm (it was quite good), and then another 45 minutes for the 4-5 pizzas. Yes, that adds up to 2 HOURS to get our food! Our waiter apologize for the 'kitchen delay' and we heard other servers doing the same, but something else clearly went wrong with our order b/c we literally watched every single table come and go while we waited. One of the pizzas came out burnt black on one side - I simply said, "NO" to our server and he knew it. He took that off our bill and discounted rest of our order, but we missed another event we had for 7pm (figured 90 mins was enough for pizza). Wish our waiter would have just explained what happened, and also been upfront when he brought a blackened pizza out. No manager in sight the whole night - we did have to track down another server to find ours once we got past 90 minutes. Overall, food was quite good, but given how bad the overall experience was, hard to recommend this place. Given the pattern of poor service and food, would hope the owners take notice and fix what seems to be a popular and fun place, but since these reviews go back several years, not sure how hopeful I am. I would try again if I heard they make changes, but otherwise, venture elsewhere in town. read more

Fantastic pizza, pasta and more! Pizza crust was really tasty as was the sauce. Crust was nice and bubbly; not too thick, not too thin! House salads were beautifully dressed and used a nice salad mix. (No iceberg here!) Fried pickles chips were crispy and just what I was craving! Delicious, fresh sweet ice tea. Service was fantastic!!! Never had to ask to have my drink refit and my waitress was attentive to our needs. Building was rustic but fun. Love the set up and drink options. Had the Caprice salad to start with and it was pretty plain but the dressing was great. We then ordered the Farm Girl and the Buffalo Chicken pizzas. The food is great and consistent. The new renovations have modernized the space. Overall, a fun, casual hangout that I've enjoyed several nights. However, the wait for food is just too long. I usually never complain about waiting because I enjoy time spent with good company. And I'm happy to wait for good food. But time and time again this is an issue. Don't come if you're hungry. Wait time for your food will be at least 45 minutes after you've ordered. The host staff will seat you quickly. It's a good time if you're ordering drinks and appetizers. She Said: Plenty of beers to try, and a welcoming space... we've found our Lexington, VA home-away-from-home. The Margherita pizza was quite good. Salerno's is great if you like beer but that's about it. Food is very average and not worth the long wait. The long waits come even when the restaurant is relatively empty which is mind boggling. We've also had a few issues when it comes to dietary restrictions. They have gluten-free pizza and pasta but we've been denied gluten-free pizza on two separate occasions. When we ordered gluten-free pizza the first time, they apparently ran out of gluten-free dough. When we ordered a second time, the oven used for gluten-free pizza suddenly "broke". Far as we are concerned, Salerno's doesn't have gluten-free pizza. To make matters worse, they couldn't even split the checks properly. My recommendation is to come here for beer but Lexington has much more to offer food wise and with much better service. read more

After a long hike with a friend and my dog outside of Lexington I was looking for a drink, some food, and a place that would allow my dog to join us. After calling approx 5 restaurants in downtown Lexington Salerno's had everything we needed. We sat on the patio which was nothing special, but a nice little outside area. The service was great and they even were sweet to our dog. The pizza I ordered was delicious, stone fire, fresh crust. The drinks were so-so. My Moscow Mule was ginger ale and vodka and the red wine was obviously a fairly cheap house red, but was made up for by the giant serving. All and all a positive experience. I really want to like Salerno's because I genuinely like their pizza, but each time I try and eat there it is always an ordeal. On this occasion, I tried to call multiple times to place an order (bc covid) yet no one ever answered the phone. I then opted to make an order online using the pay pal form on their website. I placed my order (a single cheese pizza) and got the confirmation prompt back stating that it would take 30-45 min for the pizza to be ready. I arrived to pick up the pizza at the 40 minute mark and when I arrived they had not yet started making the pizza. I then proceeded to wait until the pizza came out of the over - another 15/20 more minutes. Again, I am fully sympathetic to the struggles imposed by covid, but this was not the first time I have had issues with Salernos. read more
