Visiting in the area and some local friends suggested a visit to Frank's and we are glad we listened. Nice little place. You order from the counter and they give you a number tent and bring it to you. You self serve yourself on drinks. We ordered a large pizza and it came to us in less than 10 minutes. It was very good. Not sure but they do something with the crust. It was really good and not too heavy like you get at some restaurants. The food was excellent - my daughter's spaghetti and sauce was just the ticket and I had one of the best Calzones in a long time. the dough was perfect consistency (not easy to do..not to hard or soft), the veggies inside were excellent, plenty of cheese of course. In town to see the optometrist, and found this place on Yelp! when I got hungry for pizza. Very friendly staff, attentive service. She even brought cutlery and spices table-side, even though the place is counter service- nice touch. Ordered the supreme pizza special with a pint of Peroni. So I will admit that I am a bit biased about Franks. I lived here as a kid and always loved the steak and cheese subs. I recently passed through and was delighted to see them still in business. So of course I stopped in for a cheesesteak. I love that they are still affordable and have all the same options. Frank's is a bit nostalgic for me, over the years I had Chicken Parm as both a sandwich and pasta, although never at the same time. I brought my girlfriend here whilst on a trip for a friend's wedding and a stop at the old alma mater dear: VMI. It's been six year since the last sandwich I ate here, with my parents the week of graduation and to be honest, the food tastes the EXACT same. So it probably is actually a little bit better, idk. Went one evening last week, with friends/family. Not the first time for any of us. Pizza was pleasant, enjoyed an Italian beer on tap. Lasagna was so-so, salad was OK. Nice folks, short-staffed, very busy keeping tables clean, etc. We stayed a bit past closing, but did not get the evil eye. They did not seem to mind. Will go back again sometime. read more
