Super friendly staff, we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. I always worry when I see a varied menu. This one has typical Italian and American fare. Burgers, pizza, Italian entrees, hot dogs, salads, etc. It makes you wonder if any are done well. Surprise! They all are. The kid got a double cheeseburger, Hubby had a chicken "steak" sandwich, I had baked ziti and we took a pizza home for dinner later. Now that's varied. The kid's burger, while cooked with no pink, was super juicy and cheesy. It came with a ton of fries (he got his loaded). Hubby's sandwich was loaded with chicken - he was a big fan. The fries were cooked beautifully. My ziti came piping hot (it was still bubbling) and was oh so good. A think layer of gooey cheese blanketed perfectly cooked pasta, with a nice sauce. I would have liked to have seen a touch more ricotta. My side salad was super fresh, though it only had iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers, but that was fine - it was fresh and the balsamic vinaigrette was tasty. The garlic bread was a nice surprise. Usually you don't expect much from a side of garlic bread, but this was really good - garlic flavor and a nice amount of spices. The pizza we took home for dinner heated up very well. The crust was crisp and there was a decent amount of extra cheese. Very tasty. When we're in the area again, this will be a must stop. Who knew a little place with such a varied menu could do them all well?

With years passing and spying a shiny new 'jangles right near our hotel in Staunton, VA, I caught the urge to try it again and see if anything had changed about their golden chicken and biscuits? Along with the buttered biscuit, cool coleslaw and dirty rice, it is remains a valued and delicious alternative to fast food fare. Even my lovely traveling companion, a first time indulger, found the feast in our room worthy of praise, and she's a tough nut to crack with untested cuisine. We've been loving our days in western Virginia, but it might just be Bojangles that seals the deal and finds us back in this neck of the Blue Ridge woods sooner than later. Just wish they had designed the drive through and entrance to the shop with more concern for safety. There is no way to walk to the entrance doors without crossing the drive through lane right where the lanes wrap around the front of the building. That is an accident waiting to happen.
