Family lunch on a Thursday and the place was fairly busy nevertheless we were seated within 10 minutes (3 adults and 4 kids). We had a friendly server but the wait time for our meals definitely reflected the lunch time rush I'm presuming they experience. The food was fair, no real complaints and nothing to brag about. My grilled shrimp was a bit too pale for me (with the exception of the portion that touched the actual grill or stove or whatever they actually cooked it in). Walked in for the first time. No sign to say Wait to be seated. Three "maybe" employees ignored us. We took a step in to look around, went back to the 2 remaining workers, who pointed to open tables and booths in the bar? Awkward and unwelcoming. First time attending this restaurant for myself and my family! The ambiance was interesting and fitting for the restaurant itself. Everything from my grandparents ordering the catfish to my mom ordering the steak (rare with a side of a baked potato), to my very own honey-glazed salmon with a baked potato with cheese, sour cream, and butter, in addition to the cinnamon baked apples were all phenomenal! Personally, the honey-glazed salmon was tender and cooked to perfection and barely even needed a knife to cut with all of its tenderness. My baked potato was perfectly topped with all of the add-ins. The cinnamon baked apples were delicious with full-effect flavour and tenderness like a hot apple pie filling. Onto the dessert, the flash fried banana cheesecake consists of three scoops of vanilla ice cream, a whipped cream garnish, all complementing, a bananas foster style cannoli that is perfectly topped with cinnamon with an interior with a smooth and delicious cheesecake texture. Absolutely the best dessert I have had in a very long time! Our waitress was attentive, in spite of the crowding of the restaurant given that it was graduation and a lot of graduates of Liberty University (including myself) were having celebratory lunches and dinners. I eat here every time I'm in Roanoke over night. It's like going to a high end steakhouse for a quarter of the price. My steak EVERY single time is cooked and seasoned perfectly. Try the creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes as sides, best I have ever had. We got into town late after a long drive from Alabama and our hotel staff recommended Shakers for dinner. Our server, Tori, was amazing! She was attentive, friendly, and patient while we tried to decide what to try. Her recommendations were spot on! There was a nice lounge area near the bar and we grabbed a high top in there...there was plenty of room, and the rest of the restaurant looked nice too. We had the Old Bay Shrimp appetizer which was delicious, then shared the Blackened Ahi Tuna...it was cooked to perfection and the remoulade was a delicious enhancement! The creamed spinach was tasty, the baked sweet potato (with cinnamon butter) melted in my mouth and was so yummy! We got the Roquefort salad which was AMAZING!! 0/10. Went in late in the evening on a Sunday. Sat at the bar. Bartender seemed busy but we got our drinks pretty quickly. We were disappointed pretty quickly when we watched her put my soda glass into the ice bin instead of brining the ice to my cup. Then we sat there for over 10 minutes watching her chat with the regulars sitting at the bar. Our menus were stacked together and pushed away from us, obviously ready to order. Tried to be patient because the bartender also had high top tables in the bar. But after another 10 minutes of watching her walk right past us, while making eye contact with us. It was pretty obvious she was ignoring us on purpose now. I finally asked her if we could "put in our order". She seemed annoyed she had to walk around the bar put our order into the computer. 15 minutes later our food shows up....Togo... At that point we were annoyed and confused. Asked the bartender if she miss understood us and she quickly pointed the blame on me saying i told her Togo, (Definitely did not) instead of just trying to resolve the situation. We then told her we wanted the nachos taking off the bill and she could have them back. At the point, between her attitude and the fact it took 20+ minutes to put our order in to begin with, we were ready to go. Got the billed and paid ICING ON THE CAKE, the bartender comes back with the change, a half of an apology and SLAMS my boyfriend's change on the bar for him. We both work in restaurants and understand things happen but to slam the change down way ridiculous. For that reason also we will never return to this location. My suggestion, get a new manager that doesn't play on his cellphone all night and actually helps his staff. Get rid of Grace at the bar, she can't handle it. read more

If you want a tasty meal served in not much time and in a casual yet classy and quiet setting then Shakers is it! There is also a Roanoke location that I visited years ago which was fine but I like this one better. I came here with a friend for some dinner after mall shopping since Shakers is in walking distance of River Ridge Mall. We were seated right away and our waitress and server was great, fast and had a positive attitude and seemed to enjoy her job. I got the Hot Sicilian sandwich with some fries and a Pepsi. Fries were decent but the sandwich is where it was at! Very zesty Italian flavor with ham and pepperoni. I will recommend less ham and a little more pepperoni though to even it out but otherwise it was good. The portion is good sized but not too big either. As far as price goes it's a little up there on some things but the variety is wide as far as menu options goes with burgers, seafood, tacos and even a No Meat Options menu too. Lastly, the restaurant and table was clean and I look forward to going back to Shakers for the service and to check out more of their menu items. I gave food, price and restaurant a 4 but fast service and the very many menu options goes, Shakers gets a 5! read more

We've enjoyed Shakers for over 20 years. They have good drinks, an enjoyable atmosphere, and pleasant wait-staff. The spinach dip is a must-have appetizer, the salads are fabulous, and there are more than several other dishes I would recommend. I do have to caution about the meat. Last year I ordered the Ahi tuna and sent it back twice. By the third time I had to assume this was their version of what it was supposed to look like--grey and overly seasoned on the outside and stringy-cooked on the inside. Yesterday I ordered a filet mignon. My order was wrong twice, so by the third time I just accepted it, but for a $28 filet, it didn't appear as one and I am not exaggerating that it tasted like it had been rolled in salt. We also noticed the chips with the queso were caked with pepper so it seems that someone in the kitchen is very heavy-handed with the seasoning. They do a number of things right, but if you're ordering a protein, you may want to be very specific about how you want it cooked and seasoned. I would not go back for a steak, but I'll stick to the enormous salads! read more

Coming here to Shakers has been my first time after many years. So I was pleasantly surprised by the new open decor from what I remembered a few years ago. The hostess immediately helped us find our table. It was a full house for mid-week lunch! The waitress was very friendly and helpful the whole time we were there! The food was perfectly cooked and delicious. The Tuna Taco was excellent but a little bit heavy on lettuce and sauce but okay. The food tasted fresh! From what I could tell, it was a little bit on the pricier side for Lynchburg restaurants. However, I am willing to forgo the higher cost if the gourmandization experience is worth every bite. I hope to come back again in the future and try out their appetizers and entrees. I have not been here enough to say if I like the culinary experience here. So far, so good! read more

Shakers is conveniently located near River Ridge Mall. The ambience is great and very casual atmosphere. The service as well as the food has always been great. My only reasoning for not rating Shakers as a 5 star is that I wish they would give you the option of having your choice of fish, shrimp, etc blackened. I don't eat fried food so with that not being an option is a bummer. I do ask our waitress everytime that we go in hoping that they will eventually say "yes" read more

Shakers has been a consistently great choice. I have never had a wait to be seated, the service is always wonderful, and their menu is quite extensive. My favorite of their offerings is the spinach flatbread for an appetizer! I love that they have a dedicated vegetarian section on their menu with great choices (not limited just to a "pick three sides" option that I see a lot around here), including the delicious beyond burger they throw together. Their Mac and cheese is very good (creamy and appears to be made in house) and can be chosen as a side item with any entree. This is also a great place for cocktails, as they have more than enough to try. The only drawback is their limited menu for desserts, but this place is quickly becoming a go-to for dinner (especially it's convenient location to the mall). read more

Never heard of Shakers until I needed to find a meeting point between cities 2 hours apart. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for pointing me in the directions of Shakers! Shakers practiced social distancing by seating groups at every other table and keeping the tables in the center of the restaurant unoccupied. Despite the reduction in seating, they were changing tables and seating full parties with ease. Good job! One of my coworkers had already grabbed us a table, so we sat and shared a plate of nachos while discussing work. I didn't partake in the nachos, but they said they were alright and they definitely looked delicious. Sorry, no photos for this one. Two of us, myself included, ordered the sirloin. I had broccoli and green beans with mine and the other had mac and cheese and fries. My other coworker had the avocado tacos with creamed spinach. Everything was really good!
