"Wink wink, nudge nudge, tell me do you like the rude stuff" (Spice Girls) Wee Winks is a very nice little convenience store in downtown Duck, NC. The shelves are stocked with all of your convenience store essential groceries, a bakery, and you'll also see a showcase with pre-made sandwiches and a full deli counter. We wanted to get two sandwiches made to have dinner at a brewery, but when we arrived, we learned that they were through making sandwiches for the day. Instead, we checked out some of their pre-made sandwiches (made earlier in the day) and left with a turkey and cheese sandwich ($10.99) and an Italian sandwich ($11.99). We charged the food and were assessed a $0.57 "Technology Fee". I thought the sandwiches were very uneven, to the point that the turkey sub was a rip-off. It had very little turkey and cheese but had a big proportion of bread. What.a.bunch.of.jerks. Ok, just one jerk...a very unpleasant older woman who I politely asked if I could use their bathroom because I wasn't feeling well. The truth....because of a health condition. I had first walked to the back of the store upon seeing the "restroom" sign only to find that each one had a sign taped to the door saying, in effect, "no, you can't use our restrooms...go across the street". Hey, Wee Winks, just a thought but maybe take down the "restrooms" sign altogether?? Not only is the customer service terrible...as many other reviewers also point out...but the selection was below average for a store of this size. And everything is way overpriced. I get that the prices are going to be higher given the convenience of this place to Duck vacationers. But still, this is just price gouging. It gave us great pleasure to walk out without buying a thing and then go only a little ways down the street and spend over $100. Oh, and to the owner of this place: change the name. After not finding what I wanted at the market down the street, I stopped in to Wee Winks. It is a well laid out convenience type store. They had a good assortment of basic grocery items, like eggs, cheese, milk, yogurts. I found a prepared Chicken Caesar salad that looked pretty tasty. They also had a Greek salad and a Garden salad. They also have a full line of basic convenience store items, like sodas and snacks. I was just looking for some items to fill the bill for a three day stay, and they had what I needed. read more

Excellent and quick stop to grab some grub for the beach. They have a deli counter with a wide variety of sandwich and salad options. I ordered a turkey wrap -- it was delicious and came with a generous amount of turkey and cheese. If you aren't looking to grab and go a bite you can also get some serious grocery / drink shopping done. Although it seems like a small convenience store on the outside they actually had a huge selection of groceries. There is also a liquor section with any sort of drink imaginable, including lots of different local brands. Just arrived in duck and wanted to get a quick bite to eat and stopped here, and it ended up being the worst decision. It took extremely long for our 2 sandwiches. The staff were extremely rude when we were asking questions about the town. They seemed super uninterested and annoyed that we were speaking to them. 3/3/21 This wink was normally a stop on the way out of Carrola. My parents and I would come here. Then again by myself or with my wife. We would grab snack, or drinks for the trip back home in Maryland, DC or Virginia. I have found the people who work here to be friendlier than the ones I met long ago in Corolla. Great little market... good beer selection and some nice prepared food options outside the "norm".

This place is great for a quick stop to grab some essentials at the last minute. There is a slight upcharge it seems on some products but as far as I'm concerned, that's a premium for the convenience which is fine by me. I dont know that I've ever come to Wee Winks for something and not found it. On top of the grocery type items, their deli and breakfast sandwiches are great and pretty well priced. We stay on Marlin Dr right up the street frequently so Wee Winks is super convenient. I'm a big fan and come here a lot. read more

Nice local store, prices are high but worth it for the convenience. The store has nice clean bathrooms, and a good section for cold and allergy medicine. The store also has mice friendly service and a very spacious parking lot. read more

The positive about this place is that there is a small grocery store in the town of Duck. What isn't so positive about it is that you are paying for the convenience of this store. In all honesty this is nothing more than that without the option to buy gas for your vehicle. I ended up paying close to $10 for two small containers of a condiments. Yikes. It is a great place to run and pick up that last minute item you forgot, but all in all do not do your grocery shopping here. The staff here could use some pointers on how to interact with the customers. Better yet, just work on smiling. Sorry to have bothered you while I was in here. read more

Wee winks is a small market (maybe twice the size of a 7-11, but much smaller than a supermarket) that tries to cater to the vacationer set with a wide variety of groceries in a relatively small space. They even have a very small meat section that had some decent options. Considering their proximity to a large beach house population, I was surprised at how much they didn't gouge us for what we purchased. Unfortunately the staff seemed a little dense. I asked one of the ladies behind the register if I could 'make a pile' on the large, open counter area (since I could barely hold it all). She just stared at me. I asked TWO more times and she continued to stare at me like I was speaking Croatian. Finally one of the staff behind her said "there's a shopping cart over there." So I grabbed the cart, put my stuff in, put one more item in, and then walked back 10 feet to the counter. Kinda pointless. I guess they haven't figured out the whole customer service thing yet, though this market seems to have been here for a while. Selection was pretty good considering the size. Great grocery in the heart of Duck! You'll find pretty much any food supplies you'd find at a large-chain store. The prices are very reasonable for such a destination spot here on the OBX. They even have a little deli and bakery area with many tasty looking pastries that I'm sure are local. So glad to see a place that doesn't just want to take advantage of tourists that don't have other grocery options in the immediate area! The staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. Let management know that the posted hours of operation were rarely accurate...they close early. A lot. Owner responded with what he called humor, mocking me on how all business owners, trash guys, even Amazon are challenged by Covid. Yep, as a business owner, me too! But, I keep my clientele informed at least, which was all I was asking for. So many bad Yelp ratings for unfriendly Wee Wink's staff. Most convenient convenience store ever. Well equipped to provide you with whatever snack, beverage or gadget you forgot to bring on vacation. The little deli inside the store is staffed by nice guys serving up great sandwiches and pastries. People rave about the cinnamon rolls, but I think the biscuit and bagel breakfast sandwiches are better. You do need to get there early as they run out of biscuits and cinnamon rolls by 9:30 am or so. read more
