Had the clambake combo #3 and added sausages. It was incredible. Was just the right amount of seasoning for most people. If you like extra seasoning it would be super easy just to toss a little more in there. The per serving was a good amount. We had 4 kids, and they didn't eat a ton so we had a lot of extra. My favorite was the Andouille Sausage. It was spicy, but in a good way. Lot of what I get nowadays is bland and that wasn't the case here. The people were great... saw a couple ratings where it was different but talk to like 4-5 people while I was there and everyone was super helpful and nice. read more

This was a last minute decision to stop in for shrimp when we couldn't get the large quantity we needed at Harris Teeter. The price was comparable to HT, maybe $2 more than the sale priced shrimp at HT but less than the shrimp at Food Lion. We could have driven to Kill Devil Hills for cheaper seafood but we didn't want to make the drive just for shrimp. The money we would have saved on the seafood would have been spent on gas. We needed 10lb of shrimp and there was more than enough in the store. We also took some mussels and used both for a seafood boil. They have everything you need in here including seasonings, utensils and sides. Conveniently located near Corolla which is where we stayed. read more

There is no better place in OBX to get fresh raw sea food to cook or select items cooked for you (depending on what you are looking for.) We never go out to a restaurant while on vacation because their selection cannot be beat. I highly recommend their cocktail sauce which freezes well and their steamed shrimp and crabs is really good too. Don't see what you are looking for? The staff might have it in the back. Grabbed a key lime pie twice last week and while the taste is still delicious, the quality is inconsistent/off. The first pie was never set... so we felt like we were just eating melted key lime ice cream. The 2nd one was firmer... but the graham cracker crust was very soggy and soaked in a light brown syrup that collected in the container. The jumbo shrimp was very fresh and delicious! Maybe 5 stars for me next year if the pie quality improves. read more

We got the clam dip and the clam chowder. Both were great! I've never had clam dip before, and there were good amounts of actual clam in it. The clam chowder wasn't as thick as new england clam chowder, but it was still really yummy and flavorful. read more

We stopped here because we had leftovers at home but needed a little bit of something more. They have a decent variety of homemade stuff. It's better for big groups though because the helpings are huge! We got the she crab soup which was very tasty but a little too thin in my opinion. I don't like soups that are the consistency of water! That did have this really delicious crab bread pie. Basically crab meat in a bread bowl that needs to be baked! Today, we ordered and made their Steamer Combo #1 with shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn. We also bought a side of their cole slaw. The steamer took 20 minutes and so easy to prepare for dinner! Excellent shrimp (made a nice appetizer for hungry swimmers) with cocktail sauce. Excellent quality and taste. Got some of the steamed old bay shrimp. Very nicely prepared. Came here for a fresh fish selection and was not disappointed. We picked up, tuna, swordfish, red snapper, and steamed old bay shrimp with home made cocktail sauce. Home made cocktail sauce is so much better than anything outta a bottle. Came back for shrimp two more times throughout the week for a snack and easy meal. Wish I would have payed more attention and saw they had steampots to go that sounded delicious. For the past couple of years, we always bought our steamed crabs from Dockside as their prices, crabs, availability and punctuality always met or exceeded our expectations. Well, tonight that changed. Called in an order for half a bushel of blue crabs. Was given the most pitiful box I've ever seen of small crabs and there's no way in hell we had anywhere close to half a bushels worth in it. Not to mention the $115 price tag that came along with them. I live on the Chesapeake and own a home here in town. Crabs markets are every quarter mile where I live. It's a competitive business where I live, but where I live also carries a huge cost of living and business expenses follow suit. A half bushel of mediums goes for less than $115. Most of the crabs in the box I was given tonight wouldn't have even been kept by a MD watermen. Maybe I'll give this place another chance one day but it may be awhile. read more

I like the seafood and the convenience to our house in Duck, but unfortunately I can't recommend them because the last time I was in there (which will be the last), none of the staff were masked. This is of course during a global pandemic. I understand that people don't want to mask, may not believe the science, don't want the government to tell them what to do, etc...but c'mon, man...many of your customers DO believe in the science and the propriety of mask wearing. If you won't do it for yourselves, then at least do it for your business. There's another seafood place down the road where the staff are masked, and they'll get my business from now on. Ordered a steam pot and a half bushel of crabs and the process couldn't have been easier and the seafood was excellent. In particular, the crabs were hot and fresh and were steamed just minutes before we picked them up. Would recommend this market to anyone looking for great seafood while on their vacation. read more

Been coming here for years. Used to be reliable but this is the second year in a row where we were sold spoiled fish. "Local tuna" both times To their credit they replaced the fish when we brought it back (same day) but it's not worth the hassle. Just stayed for a week in Duck in a fantastic house right across from here. On the second night we didn't feel like cooking so we ordered a couple of the customized Downhome Clambakes in a pot! They come in a big aluminum pot, all scrubbed, layered, and seasoned. All you do is add a cup of water and a beer, in about 45 minutes you drain it and go to town! Delicious. Ours had Lobster Tails, Shrimp, Clams, Mussels, King Crab Legs, Snow Crab Legs, Potatoes and Corn on the Cob. Definitely an acceptable price and easy method to get some great food for a big crowd (we had 8 people). The seafood they had in there when we picked it up looked good too. Cheers! read more

My family has ordered delicious seafood pots from here for years! We love to order the pot, which easily feeds a hungry family of 6 - your choice of clams, lobster, crabs, and more! The pot is easy because everything you want comes in it, and you heat it over the stove with a can or two of beer. We also order potatoes and corn on the cob as well - it all cooks together and it's done! Additionally, we always order a pie, which seem homemade. Key lime is a favorite. Poor quality products at high prices, poor customer service, and poor food safety standards. Unfortunately, Dockside N' Duck has really gone downhill and isn't worth visiting anymore as there are plenty of better options in and around Duck. In addition to poor cuts of fish and undersized and poorly cooked shrimp, I've also seen employees cough and sneeze into their hands on multiple occasions and return to handling food and serving customers without washing their hands. I hope they can turn things around, but for now I'd say it's best to avoid this place. read more

Great seafood selection that is always fresh and smells it. Store is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. They also have a lot of other items to go with your seafood like fresh bread, dips, sauces, pies, spices and I think even some other types of meat in the freezer. Prices are on the high side, but you don't have to leave town so if you don't plan ahead (which is usually the case for me) it's a great stop. They also seem to keep great hours in that they are open whenever I need them. Seems to open early, stay on the late side and even be there on holidays and off days when I wouldn't expect them. It'd be nice if they ran bulk seafood sales once in a while when they get a special on a large shipment. Maybe sit out near the road with a cooler or put a big signboard up "1/2 price grouper!" so we know to stop. read more

Went to buy some fish. The young woman with nose piercing exuded bad attitude. She dropped my flounder on the floor. I told her I didn't want the fish from the floor. She proceeded to yell at me and say that all their fish is cross contaminated in the back anyway and " that's why you cook it". I insisted on a different piece of flounder and this angered her to continue to yell about their unsanitary practices. A hostile, arrogant jerk. I'd been going to the place for years but am now done forever. I am going to Carawans instead. Problem for most people is that this place is a monopoly in Duck. I will no longer be held hostage to Dockside's dirty, rude, and hostile ways. read more
