Absolutely amazing service. I got a bushel of #1 live/fresh crab. She went through every crab making sure they were still alive and if there were dead ones she would take them out and replace them with big live ones. When she was replacing them she would look for nice big sized crab to replace them with. She was very helpful and kind. We traveled with the crabs back to Georgia (about 10 hours) and they were all still alive. Amazing service for a great price! read more

We come all the way from Las Vegas to Outer Banks each year with our entire family. We have a tradition of a first night seafood festival with the family. We've tried all of the local seafood places for our feast but none compare to Endurance. Not only is the crab out of this world but the customer service is exceptional. The " Crab Lady" was very welcoming. She was very helpful with our softshell crab and fresh off her husband's boat shrimp purchase. Heads on price was $4.50lb and they were medium to extra large mixture( tasty). The medium heads off shrimp were priced at $7 lb. We bought 10 "Whales" softshell crabs for $35 very large and still kicking. The place was very clean. She kept apologizing for the "swimming pool" smell as she had just cleaned shop with bleach. Reminded me of being at a nice swimming pool. Again, very cheap, fresh off the boat crabs and shrimp. They also sell fresh frozen. Please stop in and support local fisheries. read more

This is a great hidden secret. I called some of the places we normally get crabs and shrimp from but they were out and someone recommended Endurance Seafood. It was by far some of the freshest seafood we have had and we have been coming to the outer banks for years! Prices were very reasonable. Local shrimp always rock my world. I made a Pad Thai/kung pao /veg stir fry with wild N.C. shrimp from Endurance Seafood. Go see them at 1497 Colington Rd, Kill Devil Hills. Heads on were $4.50 lb. $9 jumbo heads off. Large as well for a great price (and there were some biguns mixed into the large.) They have vats of just caught shrimp and crab. Nice people. I've come here a few times after once upon a time being sent by a family member involved in this establishment. Nicest people...allowed me to look at the shedding tanks....and had available crabs that just came off the water. If you are going to spend the money on crabs...you want fresh correct? This is the place. Don't be scared off because it looks like "just a house"....it's an operation and then some. We moved to Charlotte, NC from Charleston, SC in 2016 and have not been to a legit shrimp and crab purveyor since moving. In October 2020, we took a vacation to the Outer Banks and tried various fresh seafood places. Endurance Seafood is by far and away the best of the best. In fact, it surpasses our favorite on Shem's Creek, SC. It was so good, we packed our cooler with shrimp and soft shell crabs before leaving to return to Charlotte. I recommend Endurance to anyone looking for high quality, fresh shrimp, hard shell crabs and soft shells. read more

My husband and I were headed to the Outer Banks so obviously we were interested in finding some crab. So after a little online hunting, I emailed this man called Gene "the crabman" who emailed me right back saying, "I'm softshell Crabbing...live in Colington, and work out of Endurance Seafood located on Colington Road. My wife will be there, her name is Kristina and she can help you with anything you need." Ok, so we find this place (it's more of a shed over water with a bunch of tanks out back) and meet Kristina who was SO helpful, laid back and happy to not only sell us beautiful (live) softshell crabs, but also give us a tour of the place, explain the whole soft shell crab life cycle, teach us how to clean them and some easy ways to cook them up and devour them. They have small, medium and large crabs that will run you $16, $18 or $20 for a dozen (at least the soft ones, not sure about when the hard shell season starts). And I can't even tell you how delicious they were...we cooked them 3 different ways...over pasta with tomato sauce, lightly seared and creole seasoned-n-pan-fried. This place is awesome if you're in need of fresh crabs that you want to cook yourself and want a fun experience to boot. My only regret is not stopping on our way home to pick up another dozen or two! read more
