It's a grocery store so there's not much to be said about it. They were well stocked and the checkout process was fast despite it being a busy move-in weekend. Nice presentation. Prices are absolutely outrageous!! $79.00 for 2 pounds of deli meat and some cheese should not be tolerated.

Prices are standard, with some offers. Cashiers are very kind, deli people not so much (blatantly ignore you, and walk away from the counter). But the prepared foods are so grossness. We threw the food out and went to bed hungry (Corolla doesn't have a lot of options at night on a Monday). Sandwiches were STALE tasting, something was off, and the chicken we're almost 100% was reheated from the previous day. Tough, dry, just gag. Next time we'll make the drive to Publix in Kitty Hawk. read more

Harris Teeter in this small beach town in the Outer Banks had everything I needed, which was a pleasant surprise! I was within walking distance and especially loved the sushi/poke bar and the deli--such a nice touch to have fresh, prepared meals rather than the usual pre-made options. Prices were higher than I'm used to back home, but that's expected at the beach. The staff was kind and helpful, making it a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience. Before I start this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely on my opinion and my opinion alone so with that being said let's go!.. This particular location is a bit smaller than your average locations,I'm not sure why but it's conveniently located by the beach houses and the beach so they have all your needs to stock up your beach home or something to just take down to the beach. This seems to be the main grocery store chain in this area of the Outer Banks. To my eyes, it seems pretty good, with a good selection of groceries and some ready to eat or heat and eat items. Main gripe -- understaffed. It seems very hard to flag down someone for help. An example, they didn't have any forks or spoons to take with the ready to eat items. There was no one at the customer service desk, and the cashier nearby said she could help in a few minutes, meanwhile there was a big line. We just left and got by using the plastic knives. I know it wasn't peak summer months, but how about increasing staffing levels a bit. read more

Just wanted to share that at least in the off season, mask wearing has been very low by employees and guests (although sanitizer and masks are offered for free at the entrance). Some masks are worn over just mouths and I did see someone (who I believe was an employee but doing some shopping) having a full conversation sans mask to another employee who only had a mask on over their nose. I'm planning to stay inside for a bit after having the multiple mask faux pas. Also two separate employees were not very friendly to me as I tried to make conversation. Totally fine and maybe outside of the norm since during the summer I've never had an issue. Maybe they were just having a bad day! I get it that after a fair number of reviews this is supposedly a four star grocery store. Maybe if I ever visited more in season I would think so too. But coming here over the holidays now for the second time in three years still evokes in my mind images of Soviet era grocery stores from the '70's and '80's with empty shelves, food rationing and high prices. Now I'm not trying to draw a direct correlation between that time and place and this store, but there are still similarities which haven't changed since my last visit. First off would be that the store closes at I forget if it was eight or maybe seven. Hell, the Amish keep later hours than that. Then of course you walk in to see tarps or coverings all over sections of the left side of the store. Bakery stuff like muffins, cookies or fresh bread? Nope. Fresh produce? Very limited with high prices. Deli? Nope. Pre-made stuff left out in coolers? Nope, the coolers are tarped. If it's frozen it'll be there but even things like chips and soda had large swaths of open space on the shelves. The one cashier (same person was working both nights I came in) was very nice as she let me use the store card for what little sales they were having. Normally I would never advocate going out of your way for something but honestly if you're staying in the Corolla area during the holidays it's probably a better option to make the 45 minute round trip to the store in Kitty Hawk because at least there they offer a full array of everything along with 24/7 hours. A+ for the large amount of liquor. C+ for the prices. D for the selection. read more

Even though this supermarket is beautifully designed it is not staffed. Waiting in a line that wraps around the entire store for 45 minutes is ridiculous. Frozen foods and ice cream melt and nerves become frayed! Why are only 4 cash registers open in the middle if the day? There were many employees throughout the store that could have been at a register. As a tourist, it seems that between the unrelenting traffic and the unbelievable lines in stores, the Outer Banks is in no way prepared for the number of visitors who rent the houses here. read more

It's a Kroger grocery store. Pretty much what you would expect. They do have things for the beach like chairs and that sort of thing.

I'm jaded because even though I don't do much grocery shopping, when I do it's either at a dumpy Key Food or Pathmark that never have what I want, or else it's at Trader Joe's where the lines are epic or Whole Foods where my wallet screams as I approach the register to pay. Maybe that's why I heart Harris Teeter. Wide aisles, a wide selection of everything, fully stocked shelves, friendly employees, lines that are short....shopping here for beach week with the gang, I found myself wandering the aisles like a kid exploring a Christmas wonderland! If I'd been wearing a hat, I would have spun around in the aisle and thrown it up in the air yelling "Yippee!", as if I'd just found Shangri-La. I like you Harris Teeter, even if your name is stupid. read more

I love HT. It's one of my primary grocery stores so I was excited to see one in Corolla where I could try to get healthy food for lunch while visiting my mom and her friends at their vacation rental for the day. This HT did not have a salad bar as I'd hoped but they did have fresh salads at the deli pre-made for family size or their quick grab and go sandwiches. I couldn't decide what I wanted and also looked at the wraps and sandwiches and sushi. The friendly lady at the sushi bar gave me a sample of the spicy crab roll she was making and it was delicious! I went with sushi and green tea. Salad rolls that were filling and fresh. Inside they had fresh produce, lots of options and plenty of staff wandering about. It was pretty crowded mid-afternoon Sunday but not too bad. I did self checkout with no line and was outta there! read more

I love Harris Teeter but the prices at this location are high! Visited on a Saturday around the 6 PM hour, a very popular time for vacationers checking in for the week!! So the place was busy. We had a rental home in Corolla and between the two closest grocery stores (Harris teeter and food lion ) I preferred this store. It was much larger and had room in the aisles for people to actually look at the products without being pushed around. I also got a sub from the deli while here which was sooooo good! This place is a rip-off! Since we arrived Sunday afternoon, we were all really tired and just wanted to pick up a few items to make it through the night and breakfast the next morning. We didn't know that a Food Lion was a mile or two down the road, so we stopped at Harris Teeter. Every single thing we purchased was overpriced! Yes, they had a huge wine/beer selection and it's open 24/7, but it was packed with customers and several of the shelves weren't stocked. I wasn't impressed at all by this store. I'm glad we found the much cheaper Food Lion because that was the grocery store we used the rest of our stay. We only wish we had figured that out before paying double here. My advice is to keep down the road for the Food Lion, your pockets will thank you. read more

This is a great alternative to Food Lion or Walmart when in the area. It may be a bit pricier than the others as well but it definitely carries other items that are not available on the shelves of other stores. This time around I decided to get their loyalty card. This part of it was a bit of a debacle. If you want a card and are from out of state you cannot apply online. You have to print out the form, fill it out, and take it to the store. Then when in the store you have to go to customer service and hand it in and receive a card. That, right there, is all nonsense. When I walked in, I went to customer service and they did nothing with my application, they just handed me a card and I'm not sure, but I think they just threw away the application. So a total waste of time. Anyway, the employees are friendly and helpful. The item selection is better and if you show up at an off hour where it is not busy here your quick run to the store will just that, quick. read more

Unfortunately I think I made more trips here then to the beach, granted I spent more time on the beach but who's counting. I have to say Harris teeter really does have everything you could possible need for a week away from home without missing any comforts of home food. I'm still shocked by the price of their sushi grade tuna, which was about 22 dollars less a pound then at home. Granted you should shop around for all the sea food on the island if you really wanna save a buck. There dip is amazing although its not hard to make and it would be cheaper in the long run if you're willing to go through the trouble of making it yourself. All in all I couldn't recommend anywhere better for your shopping needs while down here. read more

Clean and well kept! This Harris Teeter is rather large, but it makes sense since there are not that many other places to get groceries (other than the smaller markets) at the OBX. After spending a week at the OBX, this Teeter became our friend and go-to store when we were cooking our meals. They cut some really nice Cargill Excel tenderloins for me and even order some pork tomahawk chops for me! The order was in the next day and they made it seem like I was their only customer!! Like most people, I occasionally wonder about the afterlife. I ask questions like, "What happens to us after we die?" "What do we eat?" "What would the grocery stores be like if we lived a good life and were rewarded with some kind of eternal Paradise?" Brother Harris answered the latter question for me. Harris Teeter is that little slice of otherworldly shopping bliss located in Corolla NC. We were doing a ton of cooking all week and this place had it all. Their produce section was magnificent. Not only is their selection off the hook, (5 different kinds of potatoes, at least 8 different kinds of mushrooms, all of the chili peppers one needs to make staple Mexican dishes, etc.) but their prices are pretty reasonable. All of the produce we got from HT was fresh and delicious. The butchers/seafood people were great. They cut up my porkchops and filleted my roughy just the way I wanted it and refused a tip when I offered. We were getting our drink on this week and HT hooked us up. They had Rose's Lime Juice, Grenadine, cocktail onions, maraschino cherries, Bitters, Margarita Mix, Pina Colada mix and every mixer/drink condiment you could ever want. They had plenty of cheap bottles of wine and 6 Packs of Bud were just $5.29! Their selection of spices, marinades, and canned foods is out of control! Everything we needed and then some. I almost took a star off for all of the non-English speaking Eastern European cats that they have working there but I couldn't. We asked one guy which aisle had cereal and he informed us that he "don't know what word cereal is." One cashier needed us to spell half of our produce items so he could find their appropriate code. When all was said and done, these cats added the necessary "fish out of water" comic relief like Balki from Perfect Strangers. Hopefully Harris Teeter will make it up to Brooklyn. read more

I have a grocery store addiction, one that has taken many cities and many years to get so out of control. For years, we suffered through Food Lion trips and last minute changes to menus when the ingredients weren't up to snuff. Now, we can cook anything that our little hearts desire. Want endive? Got that. Want 5 different kinds of tofu? Got that. Want 12 different kinds of oreos (this is more my speed!)? Got those two. Did I mention how awesome the service is? Checking out is a bit tedious but all the produce and meats guys will do just about whatever you need to leave you a happy camper. Wish I could take HT home with me! read more

More than just your run-of-the-mill grocery store, Harris Teeter incorporates everything you'd need for a week of beach going with modern styling and open, breathable layouts. They have a fairly decent selection of wines (some reasonably priced, others ridiculous), along with a good stock of beers, ranging from your typical lights to some good microbrews. Their seafood prices are actually pretty competitive with some of the local fish markets, and the quality of the fare is decent as well. Overall, the pricing is fairly competitive, and they have a much larger selection than the Food Lion down the road. Plus, you can't beat their 7-layer dip trays. I've yet to have any 7-layer dip from a supermarket even come close. read more
