Very pricey produce (especially organic)- which is typically OK by me, if the fruits and veggies look good, but there was a very small selection (completely sold out of kale and romaine lettuce, other greens were brown and slimy). Fish was super expensive compared to home (14.99 a pound for salmon!) Good selection of food for 'alternative' diets (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free), but surprisingly, I was able to find just as many options at the nearby Food Lion. read more

Decent store. I am a fan of Harris Teeter in general but this store lacked a lot of things that the other stores in our area emphasize on. They had a tiny salad bar that closed really early in the day (5 pm). The organic section is really small. I had to get all my ingredients basically in non-organic which I didn't really want to do. I also couldn't find kale and most of the lettuce was going bad. I had to really look through a lot of produce to get one that was decent but on the verge of being on the "must eat within 24 hours list". They also don't have much of a vegan or gluten free aisle. They barely had anything I really needed in this store, nuts and beans even. The service is decent. Not the friendliest nor the nicest. Parking is easy enough. Navigating through the store is easy enough. It's probably the worst Harris Teeter I have been to though. read more

We stay in Pine Island, a housing community about 5 miles south of Corolla, and there are two groceries in the area: Food Lion and HT. HT is your "upper end" store, with the nicer brands, cleaner aisles, and better staff. The prices are, of course, higher, too. The seafood and produce are good. The meats are average. The selection is great. Good beers, too. Only go to Food Lion if you are pinched for price or if it is later at night (HT closes kind of early some nights whereas FL is open fairly late). You probably have a similar grocery store near your home. Think Wegmans but not as nice. read more

Fabulous! Terrific! Everything you need for a week at the beach! This is a newish location at the entrance to a gated community. It has plenty of parking and offers aisles and aisles of necessities. The cashiers are foreigners, but all have been nice, friendly, and scan their VIP card. Clean place, lots of beer/ wine selections, nice bakery. All you need in one convenient stop. read more

It was our first time in the Outer Banks and we were all somewhat apprehensive that we would forget something for the meals we had planned and wouldn't be able to find it once we got onto the banks. But after seeing this Harris Teeter, that's no longer a worry. It's a pretty new supermarket and the selection is great. They had local selections, but a wide variety from elsewhere. And even somewhat unusual items were to be had. The prices were a bit on the high side for some things, but heck, I would charge more too for trucking all that stuff out here. read more

I believe this Harris Teeter has forgotten that customers take a risk coming into to do business during COVID 19. As customers we are trying to support local businesses. The kindness of customers is far greater than that of the Harris Teeter staff. In keeping with social distancing, the store has marked the floor with green dots for the second customer in line, which is where I stood and waited. No one said anything to me. The associate at the register said nothing until I was placing my only item on the counter. He then said I am closed after this one, nodding at the customer with her cart and groceries, leaving. Usually a customer with only one item is allowed to go ahead and make the purchase. It is very common and very nice. That was not my experience. The associate was mean to me and I considered him rude. I felt like he discriminated against me. I will not return to this location of Harris Teeter. There is a very nice Fresh Market and Publix not far away. I will go to Fresh Market and Publix from now on. I appreciate every business that is open during these unprecedented times. my review is in part to respond to some of the negative comments from previous reviewers. we come to the Currituck Club about 4 times per year (April, June, October and Christmas week) and there is a pattern to the store. in June, the staff try to keep up with the demand and are tireless in restocking shelves - which tend to get cleared on Sundays and Mondays. staffing is lower since the pandemic as many seasonal workers were not able to get Visas, so be patient. things start slowing down at end of September and the stock reflects the reduction of customers. and not surprising, by December and deep off- season, this store is stocking the essentials although you still find great steaks, artisan Romaine lettuce and store baked bread. they also have seasonal flowers and I know I can find Boars Head deli products. if you want a fully stocked store , the HT in Southern Shores is happy to oblige. for me, we appreciate the convenience of our local HT and the staff who make it function. read more

This is what you'd get if the local Food Lion and a Whole Foods were to mate, and have a bastard child. They have a small organic produce section--you might be able to put a salad together--and bring home a few other random organic veggies like zucchini, yellow squash and peppers. There are some decent organic options in the regular aisles as well, plus a bakery with some passable artisanal style breads. The deli section is always nuts. They stock a lot of dips and cheeses and finger foods, which are sure to make your post-beach gatherings more refined. Come early to avoid the crowds, but don't be surprised if you have trouble exiting the store due to the snaking line at the Starbucks counter (which is just inside the entrance). read more

Love this Harris Teeter! Would love it even more if the deli didn't close down way too early for folks who arrived late for their vacation. The prices are a little steep, but I expected that in a resort area. What I didn't expect is having to drop what you're doing after a mandatory 4:00 pm check in to high tail it to the grocery store or be SOL! This Harris Teeter is just like any other except for it's location in the heart of Corolla. In an area full of vacation homes with not many higher end supermarkets conveniently located, this place stands out. Not quite as large as others I have been in, but a great selection and friendly helpful staff. Vacationers and locals alike should be able to find just about anything needed. Produce is fresh and the beer/wine selection is pretty good. Sandwiches from the deli counter are huge, tasty and fresh. The store is well organized with nice wide aisles. This really is a one stop shop for cookout supplies, snacks or anything else you need in your home away from home. Definitely pricier than Food Lion, but worth the extra expense. read more

I've never been to any of the Harris Teeter's near me, but after hearing how awful the Food Lion's are in the OBX area, this is where we did all our grocery shopping. Even if the store itself hadn't been good, I would still be making a visit to the Harris Teeter near my home just to get the chocolate chip cookies. They were so good 7 of us went through about 3 containers of them during our week at the beach. Like everything else in the area, a lot of stuff was overpriced, but, there's really no getting around that. The beach stuff (chairs, boogie boards, etc) was INCREDIBLY overpriced, definitely just pick that stuff up at the Wings that's basically next door. It's open 24 hours and they sell copious amounts of beer and wine, so you really can't go wrong. read more

We are staying in Pine Island and the Harris Teeter is about 3.5 miles North of our beach house. This place is huge and very nice. It looks brand new and I can't remember if we saw it last summer. HT is very busy everyday and it is especially crowded on the weekends. They have very fresh produce, a good selection of groceries and pretty much everything you need for the beach. They also sell skim boards (wood ones for kids) and body boards of all sizes. My favorite part was not having to go to the Brew Thru to pick up Fat Tire beer as they had it in stock! Will have to buy a case to bring home since you can't get it in Northern Virginia! read more

After reading the reviews on yelp, I went out of my way to go to HT instead of the Food Lion in corolla (much closer to us). Yes, HT is a good grocery store with a larger selection. But I've stopped in at food lion twice for items and it's fine. In fact, HT was out of avocados and FL had plenty. If I were doing it again, since we were staying in Corolla, I would only hit HT for the produce, and even then only if I needed something unusual. read more

The aisles are large and shelves well organized and stocked. I found the prices to be a bit lower than Food Lion contrary to the other reviews, but then again, I did buy a lot of sale items. We became frequent HT shoppers throughout our stay. Only wish we had one at home! read more

Much like Harris Teeters we find in our home area. Always clean, always good products. Friendly helpful staff as well. Groceries seem to be a little bit pricier than the Food Lion down the road, but it is much more refreshing to shop in a well organized fully stocked store. This is one of the nicest Harris Teeter locations I've ever been too, and it's very well set up for the vacationing/beach crowd who must make up 98% of their business. The beer and wine section is right up front next to the deli and produce areas - perfect if you're looking for cookout supplies. Also they have lots of small product sizes if you're looking to stock up on stuff (condiments. etc,) just for a week at the beach. The place was a zoo the Sunday I visited in early July, but the staff was madly re-stocking trying to get ahead of the demand. They were as polite and friendly as most HT employees are. The checkout clerk told me they day before they had the highest single day sales of any store in the chain ever. You'd expect the store to be a wreck and the selection depleted - quite the opposite. Forget Food Lion and it's surly staff - this is the place to shop for your OBX stay!! Best produce, selection, etc... I could go on and on. Take it from me - my family has rented OBX homes for 13 summers and this place was a breath of fresh air after it opened. Managers take super great care of their customers and actually care about the image they project. Some may whine about higher prices (which is false) - but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Meat selection is A+ and they are always well stocked. The only suggestion I have (more for their benefit so they don't have so much to restock) is a bigger sign explaining NC alcohol sale law for Sundays for the newbies. read more

We hauled a carload of groceries and alcohol to OBX last year, but discovered Harris Teeter while we were here. They have everything you need for your vacation and the alcohol prices are very reasonable. We didn't bother hauling anything this year...we just stocked up at Harris Teeter upon arrival. Great find! This is your average Harris Teeter, which is to say it is very clean, well organized, and has everything you need for your vacation groceries. The beer and wine selection is better than average. While there is nothing wrong with this location, and it is much nicer than the Food Lion up the road, there is also nothing that makes it stand out as better than an average Harris Teeter location. This location tends to be a zoo on turnover days and the clientele is often your typical, annoying, self-centered touristy types, but there is nothing management can do about that. My recommendation is to wait until later in the night on turnover days or wait until a weekday to shop if possible. read more

This Harris Teeter is new, clean, and the people are really friendly. The store was a little off on its stock although I think that is because it is so new. The staff seems to know about coupons and were fine with me using them. I love that they always use paper bags and you do not even have to ask. Great store and I have made 3 trips while here on vacation. The only thing I had a problem with was the self checkout. It did not seem to ever have someone there to watch and make it a quick checkout. read more

Love the fact that Harris Teetor in Corolla is open 24 hours. Had a bit of a late night emergency and called the store before heading out. The late night manager that answered the phone was extremely helpful. We found the over the counter meds we needed in the middle of the night and we're back home to our vacation rental in no time. This is a complaint re ordering party food on line. I arrived to pick up the order with an email confirmation and the store did not have it in their system and the food was not prepared. We ended up picking up sandwiches and some sweets at the Deli Dept. Ms. Rynn and Tiffany at the Bakery was very helpful in making some sandwiches and the message cookie in short notice. However, even with the helpful store personnel a ten minute catering order pick-up became a hour long trip. The delay caused needless distress and aggravation. I am extremely disappointed with the HT order on line system that would send out a confirmation email to the customer without confirming it at the store. read more
