Good food, friendly staff. I usually order the BIG PIG with Mixed Green & Red. I often take half of it home. A 4 egg omelet with a mega amounts of meat - sausage, bacon, ham, Avavado, onions, & Mushrooms. With them serving both breakfast & lunch, we can easily change up our orders.. but rarely do. When they are packed busy, we try to find another place to eat. Wait times can go up to an hour or more. We like that the manager comes by each table to check on service. And If you want to take your drink with you, they offer a 32 oz plastic cup to go, along with a meal if need be! Wecks is "below" what I would formally write a review on due to its economic status in NM. However for the purpose of Yelp . . . Wecks is always consistent with food quality, menu selection, service, and ambience. The food quality is always "ok" and the service is always "ok." (It's not bad and it's not good . . . it's always "ok." The great thing is that it's always consistent no matter what location you are at, and that's difficult for a restaurant chain to achieve. You always know what your are in for at any Wecks. Holy cow what a delicious fantastic find!! We visit Albuquerque twice a year for a seminar. We usually go to El pinto for Sunday brunch, but we needed something faster. We were looking for a hearty, quick brunch before going on a hike and Wecks came up on Yelp. We were all pretty hungry, but when I saw a FOUR EGG omelette, I asked my husband to share. We had the farmer's market omelette with mushrooms, sprouts, guacamole, cheese, sour cream and more cheese. It came with hash browns and bread and chili sauce. We struggled to finish it. Two things I will change next time: request crispy hash browns (see below) and get the chilis on the side to control the heat. Our friend got the sloppy papas - hash browns with homemade gravy and two eggs on top. She ordered crispy hash browns and omg they were the best I've ever had. The gravy was beautiful, you could tell it was home made (and she'd know... She's a great organic cook)The third dish was the chicken quesadilla enough for at least two, maybe three people. It was also excellent. Our waitress was Daisy who was perfectly attentive. The manager Daniel come over to ask about our meal and chatted us up. It was nice to learn about the small chain. The icing on the cake? We asked for iced tea/ water to go and they brought us the awesome cups in the photo. The whole meal was about $10/ person. So reasonable for fantastic food and service. Went post air balloon ride. Was quite hungry, got sat immediately and server came quickly to get our drink orders. The manager then came to check if we got our order taken. We ordered the vegetarian burrito and the French toast with bacon. The food got to our table within 10 minutes. The burrito was huge and the French toast was perfect size. It was the perfect amount of food for the three of us. All in all I enjoyed it. I felt the burrito lacked some seasoning. The manger came to check up on us again when we got our meal. Both the green and red chile sauces have some type of animal product in them (like chicken fat or something weird), though Weck's does offer chopped green chile. Their potatoes are cooking butter, though they offer french fries that are vegan. Also, their beans are cooked in bacon. Ugh... just order that as a side dish if you want bacon and leave the vegan food alone, please. On a poor quality food level: they put sour cream in their guacamole. Who the fuck does that? Cheap-ass restaurants cause sour cream is a lot cheaper than avocados. I would not go back and could not recommend this restaurant to anyone, including meat-eaters as the sour cream guac issue is lame. Try harder, Weck's. read more

Truly great chicken fried steak w eggs. The sausage gravy was the perfect balance of creamy and spice, and the hash browns seasoned and crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Our sever went out of her way to accommodate us - I asked for a side of ham and she kept the tasty strong coffee coming. I would give it a 4.5 because the biscuit seemed like it was frozen and then rebaked and/or nuked. I gave it 4 because I want to try their New Mexican dishes before I can go all out on the stars. But my friend's waffle on her chicken and waffles was also really good as was her fried chicken. Weck's is one of the local places that celebrates Christmas year round, through chile. Totally love their value meal deals with the biggest glass of iced tea, and a "secret menu" item (the Fresh Turkey sandwich) me and my mom ask for and they always know it. Amazing! The chile they serve is just too hot for my liking, but they're always willing to put it on the side (so I can give it to a family member instead lol) My fave is def the Papas, though. Smother that overflowing bowl of awesome with your toppings of choice and you have the perfect way to start your day. read more

Isn't that unfair to the other half of the words? Anyway, lots of food. I could probably have split my "south of Denver omelet" with someone. As far as diners go, these guys nailed it by serving up all the classics you'd expect and then some fun new plates that I haven't seen before. The Papa's bowl was slam dunk. Their green and red Chile sauces are homemade and it's evident at first bite. The atmosphere was typical of an American diner and, based on conversations I overheard at the booth behind me, this is a favorite spot with the locals. My only complaint is that I was asked how I was doing far too often. Every time someone passed my table I was asked if the food was good, did I need something, etc, forcing me to reply with my mouth full, each time. It all started with looking at reviews of the hotel I was staying at in downtown Albuquerque one of the men gave it 5 stars and a lot of the other reviews gave it horrible stars... pretty sure the horrible reviews were paid for to try and take away business from said Hotel so I looked at the guy's profile and he had also reviewed a Weck's... I am such a breakfast person and I am so glad I saw that dude's review and so I started looking at pictures posted by patrons on Yelp and Google reviews. I showed my wonderful waitress something that I wanted to eat and immediately she knew it was the sloppy Papas. I ordered an entire plate which might have been a little much but considering I was driving from Albuquerque to Denver it was just the right amount of food to hold me over the entire day. If you like biscuits and gravy and hash browns order the sloppy Papas. They start out with a huge plate of hash browns diced bacon and sausage slather it in country gravy, which I might add is super excellent tasting, top it with two eggs of your choice and somewhere in all of that cheese is mixed in and then you can choose tortillas or toast. It was an amazing breakfast and took me nearly 30 minutes to eat in addition to conversing and drinking coffee. Seeing as how this is the only location I visited I will probably be coming back here because I know what I can expect top notch service I also recommend getting here very early because I hear that the line can be a 30 minute or more wait. I wasn't very hungry, so I had just a pancake, bacon, and coffee. Coffee was weak. Hard to understand how a just-made pancake could taste stale, but it did, slightly. I'd recommend this place if you like 1950s Hollywood decor (James Dean, Rat Pack, Elvis) and standard fare at decent prices, and you might luck out and get seated right away.
