Every time I go, I'm impressed with the professionalism of the staffers - from the hosts to the servers to the cooks. Not just professionalism - _friendly_ professionalism, all while multitasking at 100 mph. (An aside: if you ever get a job application from someone who's worked at a Waffle House for any length of time - that's pretty much as good a reference as an Eagle Scout badge. But don't sweat that: they turn tables like an Indy pit crew changes tires and there are plenty of seats for you to sit and wait, maybe read that book that's going to expire on Libby in a couple days. The room - well, it's a diner. You probably know what it is. Not especially comfortable (especially if you get a low counter seat) but this one is always clean - drippingly, just-cleaned, clean. (For the most part: you have a fair chance of getting a somewhat sticky laminated menu - bring hand sanitizer to clean up, because the traffic to the bathrooms is always pretty constant and seems urgent.) The food is - well, better than most diners in town. And reasonably portioned for the price. Not sophisticated (gloppy, a little too on the sweet side), but - by gum - your over-medium eggs are going to be the most spot-on, perfect over-medium eggs you've gotten at a restaurant since you ate at that snooty breakfast place in the Wynn in Vegas. Solid three stars for friendly service staff and quick airport service but the food was lacking. The waffle was flat and thin and syrupy was grossly sticky and not a quality Maple Syrup that I am inclined! The egg was powder and the fried chicken wings were darkly fried from the very hot temperature with burnt oil from repeated cooking with fallen batters in the old used oil. The restaurant was open and airy but smelled strangely oily probably secondary oil smoke from burnt, over-fried cooking oil that may not be the healthiest choice. Coming from the Pacific NW, Waffle House isn't something we get to have. After landing on Christmas eve at the airport, we took a short drive to this Waffle House location. Upon entering, we can see the staff being extremely busy, fortunately there was one table left, which took a bit to get cleaned. It's quite fun for the kids to see the food being made, they got a kick out of the whole vibe. Service was really slow, but we knew this being one of the few restaurants open on Christmas eve, this was what we expected. All the food we had was solid, the steak cheese Texas toast and bacon chicken Texas toast were both tastier than expected. The service was more of a 2*, staff was just swamped so not their fault, one customer seems to have taken it personally and took off while slamming the door. Apparently the quintessential Waffle House experience happens around 3:00 AM after the bars close. Since I don't stay up that late anymore, I had to settle for the regular daytime brunch experience. We both had the All-Star special - two eggs, bacon or sausage, grits or hash browns, and a waffle. My husband enjoyed the peanut butter chips topping his waffle, and his grits were very good. I find it to be a fabled spot, and I know it is meant to be eaten late night, but I figured early morning would be equally thrilling. We arrived and there were a few folks dining, and about 4 workers who were all very very nice. Coffee was good, hash browns were excellent smothered and covered (I love their onions!), bacon was a bit undercooked and the waffle was mid. My biggest issue is that so many places are switching from real butter to whipped spread, which I can't eat with my soy allergy but alas it is a me problem. Looks like kind of a hole in the wall but not like that at all. I was seated at the counter and was totally entertained by the cooks. My mother, wife and I ate at this Waffle House on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 2 PM. This location sits conveniently by the Albuquerque Sunport, and we had a flight to catch to LA after our meal. I selected the Texas Bacon Cheesesteak Melt plate with hashbrowns. The menu has nice color photos of all the plates, which is super helpful. Wish more establishments would do this! My food came out piping hot and smelling great. The large quantity of hashbrowns were nicely prepared, with a crispy outside and tender potato inside. My melt didn't have very much bacon, and the steak inside was just okay. Overall, my melt disappointed me a bit. My wife and mother enjoyed their breakfasts a lot more than I enjoyed my lunch. Let me just say that it was actually really good. I got a steak bacon melt sandwich with hash browns and it was simple and to the point meal. Of course we got the waffle which was okay. Our server, I think his name was Ty was very cool and attentive and all round a great person and was very quick with refills made our first time very enjoyable. The ambiance was what you would expect from the movies and memes could use an update but who really is complaining. All and all had a great first time. This location matched up with the Yelp reviews they previously had. The procedures to dine in or out were confusing to most and frustrated an elder man so bad he left early and flicked off the staff. He was completely in the wrong but his frustration was understandable since he was waiting outside for 45 minutes with no guidance on what to do to order. I was not happy when I got my food and everything was barely warm, except for the bottom of the hash browns. I was also very displeased with the arguments or disagreements that could be heard between the staff that was working. I am not sure if there were a lot of new staff members or what but there was so much confusion between their current at table orders, phone orders, to go orders AND DoorDash/postmate orders. Why or how would I know about their confusion if it were not for the loud arguments and back and forth discussions. I was excited to find a WH so far from home. I was directed towards the low counter in a less than 1/2 full restaurant. I'm 6'5" have a fused back and their low chairs and stools hurt my back. I know their weekend policy so always go early and have never had a problem in the 53 years of eating WH in the South. Here the greeter told me she'd just been yelled at by the manager for sitting a single in a booth. She pointed at the manager. I went to explain my issue and point out that the place was still only 1/2 full and was going to tell her that I eat fast and am a good tipper but she interrupted me and just kept telling me the policy without ever looking up from what she was doing.
