Great, clean, local diner with regular diner food as well as authentic Mexican food (since the owners are Mexican). I recommend it!

Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. My family and I came here because it was the closest place to grab a bite to eat after visiting the Botantical Gardens and was just way too cold out to walk any further beyond our parking garage. The taste of the food was fine (it's your typical big diner menu), but this place could not possibly have passed sanitation inspections. There were concerning leaks breaking through the ceilings, the bathrooms were so horrific I was actually gagging while in it, from what I saw of the corner of the kitchen it was filthy, and I watched the waitress behind the counter stand there with her hands in her mouth chewing on her fingernails and then serving food throughout the duration of my entire meal. Our waitress (a different employee) was really quite rude, forgot one of our appetizers, never came back to see if we wanted desert, and cursed out loud complaining with other workers. I rushed myself home to take an extensive shower because I genuinely felt so grimy having just sat in this establishment for more than 40 minutes. First time i ever tried it. As it was the only cafe near and open when i wanted to order food. By far the worst diner/ cafe in the area. The French toast had no flavor and dry. The cheese omelet had many one piece of cheese in it. The home fries was like mash potatoes. STAY AWAY !! read more

A solid diner with reliable food. I was offered the "Spanish Coffee" which was basically coffee with espresso and it was delicious. My omelette was fine although they put cheese slices on top of the omelette instead of inside but whatevs....it was still tasty. Incredibly nice waitress. read more

This resturant is the worse!!! 50 cents for a slice of cheese? My job is 2 blocks away yet i had to wait an hour for my food. A large coffee is $3.00. Everything on the menu has been raised in price. You are better off going to the bodega directly across the street. I was given old sausages for my sandwich at 11am. Please inspect your food before purchase. Food is good. But take outs need a lot I mean a lot of help. They could be making so much more on takeouts but something is always missing. I order Apple pie a la mode. And I got what I asked for, only thing is they put both pie and ice cream in same container. I know what you are thinking " not a big deal ' but the pie was heated up so by the time it arrived I had what looked like milkshake spilled on a pie. Maybe a separate cup for ice cream next time. There isn't much that is going to disappoint after St. Paddy's Day. Greasy burgers, large fries,milk shakes..this is typical, no frills, diner food. Seriously, after tonight, if it were between this place and Le Bernadin (don't mock the spelling), I would take this place. Not only is Joann the best waitress ever, but their $7.95 daily specials are BOMB! On Sunday I had the Filet Special which was a broiled and stuffed filet of white fish, with mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli or your choice of veggie. Garlic bread, tea/coffee, soup/salad, and jello/rice pudding also come with the meal! It really is a ton of food, but it is all soooo yummy! I opted for the rice pudding and it was just as good as Joann said! They have free delivery and also own the Mexican restaurant next door, which I plan on checking out soon. Good food, good portion, and well priced. The seating isn't the most comfortable and the tables gave my legs splinters from underneath but for the most part I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed that the place served "typical diner food" as well as Mexican food as well. The only downside to my experience was that I asked for half of my tuna wrap to be taken to go and then the waitress told me that someone had thrown it out. I live down the block and order from or eat here all the time. Great pancakes and decent breakfast. Fast and friendly service. Tried the Italian dishes and they were pretty nasty..but it's a diner! Stick to diner food and you will be satisfied. Salads are a healthy size as well. read more

This Bronx staple celebrated its 76 yr in the Bedford Park neighborhood this year and its still standing. From its wonderful staff, who are always willing to serve you to its homely feel, this place provides you with all that you could expect from a diner. Love the food and the all day menu options. We had a chicken wrap which was okay, buffalo wings which were really tiny and not too much chicken. They were under $6 bucks as an appetizer so we went for them. The mozzarella sticks were okay, as long a you eat them as soon as they are served. After 5min the cheese got really hard. The Spanish Coffee, Fresh OJ and our waitress Wanda were great! I was in the area for 4 days to attend a funeral service. We ate at this diner 3 times in 4 days, with different groups of family. The food was consistently good, and the service was excellent. Even when they forgot the bacon on the bacon/cheeseburgar, they quickly bought over a plate of bacon. I have travelled the world, and, I truly enjoy mom & pop restaurants, but I have a high expectation for them. I order from here way too much. The food isn't the great. But there's something about it that keeps me coming back for more. They won't deliver to my street after 10pm, but whenever I am there past 10, they are taking delivery orders. For who? I would love to know!! The Cheeseburger is your only sure bet here -- everything else is hit or miss. The fries are mostly tasteless and soggy. Nothing looks like the picture. If you're ordering iced coffee, tell the waiter "you like it sweet." Bathrooms are super tiny and mostly gross; and now because of you Fordham freaks, you have to ask to be buzzed in. Which I still don't understand why they invested in that ''technology'' since they are essentially broom closets with a toilet. Overall, it's just a decent neighborhood diner. read more

I came here before I went to the botanical garden. Honestly, my food was great and so was my friends, the portion was large, and the food was cheap. The customer service isn't really present as in the waitress came by once towards the end of the meal, but what more could you really want from a cheap and tasty diner? It also looked clean. It's not so amazing I would come back just to eat here, but if you live or work nearby, it's worth checking out for your lunch break. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. First I work nearby and you would think they would have better food or service. Every time I order delivery I receive the wrong item for example I ordered a Greek Wrap but instead I got a Steak wrap. Even though I asked them to repeat the order. They did after all receive a C grading. Don't waste your time and money. Enjoy food elsewhere. read more
