This is our go-to place for takeout Mexican in Pelham Bay. I pretty much always get the chicken burrito because it's fantastic and huge! They prepare each dish fresh for you, so sometimes you have to stand around for a bit, but that's actually fun because then you get to look at all the unusual (well at least to this gringa) groceries on the shelves. I usually go to Taqueria Lupita a couple of blocks from my house but they were closed so after doing my research I came across Tulcingo Cafe and I'm so happy I did! First, the food is absolutely delicious and they do not skimp on the food at all. Second, their guacamole is one of the best I've had. It had everything guacamole should have. Third, their chicken milanesa is way better than the one from Taqueria Lupita and it has more stuff in it than theirs. And last, the churros and champurrado combo? Coño Que rico! I've never had champurrado before but it's way better than just regular chocolate. I'm just surprised I actually ate all this food lol. I'm the type that eats a little and doesn't want to eat anything else. They were really fast with the delivery and their delivery guy was very professional, polite and sweet. Came across Tulcingo Cafe on yelp by (believe it or not) searching for smoothies! Sunday hangover was REAL and I was dying for a smoothie/açaí bowl. Options seem pretty limited in the Bronx so I started scrolling this menu and it was like the heavens had opened up..mexican, burgers, smoothies, appetizers, the menu had alittle of everything so I went for it. Smoothie: 3.5/5, while it was good, it wasn't great. It kind of seemed like it was artificial juices that mimicked real fruit. I could be wrong but that's what I got from it. The consistency was more of a shake than a smoothie but either way it did the job and cured the craving. Steak Burrito: 5/5, when I initially opened this up I was disappointed because I didn't know it was served fork and knife style. I was planning on just a regular burrito to hold and house down...BUT upon the first bite I quickly realized I was dealing with a masterpiece. Absolutely delicious, great flavor and huge portion. Mozzarella Sticks: 4/5, hard to screw some old fashion mozz sticks up. These were good though. I realize the odd combination listed above but those Sunday scaries sometimes call for odd things. I was very impressed with the menu, the food, and the price. We might need help.. all joking aside: If only we could get back all the terrible local Mexican takeout we've had over the years and replace it with Tulcingo Cafe... Honestly, the food is incredible, very reasonably priced and you don't feel like a huge 'hombre de montaña' (mountain man) smacked u with a sack full of bricks after finishing your meal. This entire experience was horrible from the start. I ordered off seamless and the food arrived over 30 minutes late. The delivery guy handed my food to the wrong person; I almost got into a fight over my own food! Came here today because I wanted a smoothie, and the staff at JuiceRite across the street never wear masks. The staff at Tulcingo do, however, and they offer smoothies! I got takeout from this place several times before. Super delicious tacos. Unfortunately,I got food poisoning this week from this place.. I had the worst diarrhea in my life ever. I had a taco for late dinner. Then i had diarrhea 9 times the next day (Day1). The following day (Day2), feeling bloated and tired all day which also ended the night with 1 diarrhea. It made me want to vomit but I was not able to. Day 3: still bloated and really bad cramps early 5 am and had another diarrhea... Oh Lord. I hope I recover soon. read more

We (7 people) and made a reservation in advance and they were very accommodating. The owner's activist roots are immediately apparent in the decor. We ordered the cinnamon teas and coffees. They hit the spot on a wintery day- and the ongoing refills were quite generous. I can't speak as to the other entrees on the menu, but this place specializes in mole, and so that's what we got. The sauces were complex and flavorful. We even tried the vegan version which was delightful. The veggies were fresh, not frozen - which is more than I can say for some other popular Mexican spots in the Bx. If I could leave zero stars i would. The customer service is the worst and the workers there are ungrateful. I walk in and leave a $5 for a $10 order and the guy in the back asks how much i left and the other guy responded "not that much." They need to train their staff better. The food isn't that great from here anyways it so plain and dry. I ordered from this restaurant through GrubHub $40+. I ordered a Steak Burrito Platter (no rice) for my husband, his usual order from this, as well as burgers, fries and chicken wings for myself and our kids. I've included pictures of my husbands steak "burrito". Is it me or doesn't a burrito include a tortilla or some type of flour wrap. No tortilla anywhere in sight, but there was absolutely a 1/2 cup of water in this pig slop. I called the restaurant and they tell that I ordered the burrito platter and that doesn't include a tortilla. I told the guy, who told me he's the cook and it's not supposed to include a tortilla. I tell him that what they gave us shouldn't be called a burrito without a tortilla anywhere, just a slop platter for $13 because it's also completely watery. The man then tells me he made it and gave it to "the guy" (I'm assuming he means the delivery guy) and that he doesn't know what happened. After we've been ordering from these guys for about four years and spent tons of money with them, the guy did not offer a replacement of at least edible looking food, a refund or even an apology.
