I'm from california never seen out mexican food outside of my state. I got review while at yankee stadium and was met with a pleasant surprise. I ate here yesterday September 23rd, 2023 between 10:30pm 11:15pm So I need to address the ELEPHANT in the room.....Was I served JOLLOF RICE?!! Because when I had seen my plate come out the kitchen... I won't lie i literally thought it was JOLLOF RICE... but after tasting it, I immediately knew it wasn't. But LET IT BE KNOWN SAN JOSE's RICE AND BEANS WAS PHENOMENAL! Perfectly cooked fluffy rice; beans was cooked amazingly! My chips and salsa tasted fresh and homemade so that was enjoyable! Now for the MAIN EVENT.... After a long day of mailman business and dropping off supplies at my family's spot. I was craving A WRAP OR SOMETHING SIMILAR WITH EXTRA CONDIMENTS(y'all know how I do). So I had to dig deep and remember I've eaten at this establishment before but never reviewed this place yet. I ordered the chicken and chorizo quesadilla (homemade corn tortilla)... FLAWLESS. The chicken was seasoned well balanced. Chorizo didn't taste like it was cheap packaged meat. Everything to my point of view was fresh and good quality. But I must say I'd wish the ratio of bread to meat. I would of preferred a bit more meat...but there is an option for that. Bathroom was decent.. overall the night was ended beautifully with a live performance from some local artist who was singing karaoke which was also beautiful. Food here is delicious and service is above and beyond. The staff are attentive and supportive throughout the whole visit. The wait for the food we ordered was minimal. The Birria Tacos were amazing and the added touch of pineapple in the Jarritos made it a unique and delicious combo. Such delicious tacos! I love that they make it clear you can have Mexican style vs American style tacos. I loved the al pastor and the shrimp tacos. Too bad they were out of the fish because that's what I was craving. The rice and beans were on point. We ordered delivery and it was timely and still warm. Honestly this is the BEST Mexican Restaurant I have tried ! The staff is friendly and polite. The ambiance is beautiful and welcoming and clean. The food was amazing. I had the tacos Al pastor which were delicious and my fiancé had chilaquiles which he loved. We also had a side of beans and rice and that was great too ! Omg the shrimp was amazing. We got shrimp nachos and they're so generous with the shrimp. Shrimp tacos were good and the huarache we had was amazing as well. We ate here this afternoon and it was delicious. I had a mole chicken burrito: perfect. Note: they are currently remodeling half the eating area so seating can be tight if it's busy. 4.5 stars. I live around the corner so I'm in here all the time. The food is great, particularly the quesadillas. I wouldn't count on finding any groceries that you want, but that's not the goal here, these folks are running a restaurant now, and between locals, workers, cops and Yankee fans, they're doing a hell of a business. They are trying to still be a little bit of a corner store, selling little odds and ends, chips and candy, etc., surely for the income. But in transitioning into a restaurant, they also have 9 or 10 tables in the place. They are unfortunately in such a small space, that I think they should choose one or the other, that is, eat-in dining or groceries. I get the feeling that if they had the choice, they would probably just run a restaurant, and more power to them! Cheers to Olisia, Eduardo, Luisa, Armondo, Lucy, and all other staff! read more

We walked in and was greeted vaguely and then was ushered to a seat near the door (even though there was open seating in the center of the restaurant). Then we realized the hostess wouldn't speak to us again for about 15mins. Turns out they "don't speak English" and bc we looked **foreign** (I'm being nice) they didn't know how/want to proceed. Wasn't until my Cuban friend started speaking Spanish that we were able to get service and was able to order. With all that said, the food was mid at best (fresh but lacking flavor) but the space was cute and cozy. Seems to be a hit amongst their friends and families so I will gladly leave their safe space to just them.

If you're looking for great Mexican food near Yankee Stadium, this spot is a must-visit! They have so many options on the menu, so there's something for everyone. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. One of the best parts is that they're open until 12 AM, making it a perfect stop after a game or a late-night craving.
