Found Wayne here on yelp after my kitchen sink clogged, then fell apart when I tried to fix it myself. The pipes were old and brittle and as soon as I started trying to do anything they just tore apart. It was a stinky mess! He came out in less than 2 hours after I called him even though it was a Sunday, and charged a totally fair price. Very personable, nice guy, and he did a fantastic job. Skilled, Hard Working, Nice Guys: I need to replace the roof of my building and had to have the AC units relocated during the process. The job was difficult as they needed to work in tandem with the roofers. I was referred to Wayne and Mike who were very accommodating and able to come the same day to evaluate the job. Upon evaluation they told me they would be able to work around the roofers and agreed to do the job at a very fair rate. They completed the job well above expectations - going above and beyond the initial scope of work. In addition to relocating the system, the moved additional lines and identified/fixed a Freon leaks - while staying within the initial budget. This is the third AC company I have worked with since purchasing the building. I will never use anyone else again - they have my business for life. I highly recommend WGC. read more

I needed a plumber to check out my Baxi gas boiler, and found Mr Clarke among a list of Brooklyn plumbers recommended by the Baxi's US distributor. He was ready and able to accommodate to my limited availability at home during office hours by showing up 20 minutes after I called him. He said he charged 150 for the first hour, and I think 100 (or was it 50?) per additional hour - but he didn't need much time to fix the issue and complete a general inspection of the boiler, and only charged me 75 USD. Wayne is the best plumber I've ever hired hands down--he's great at what he does, very honest and professional and charges fair rates (much more affordable than the other quotes I got). He came over immediately (on a Saturday!) to install my new washing machine, which involved disconnecting my dryer, removing it from on top of my broken washer, installing the new one and re-stacking and connecting the dryer. Installing a new toilet fill valve and flapper, the stop valve of our 100+ year old house snapped off and I had to shut the water off at the main lest the entire basement flood. With water still streaming from the broken valve at a steady pace, Aladdin couldn't come until the next day; Vigilante wouldn't be available for upwards of 6-hours, charging $200 for the service call plus the cost of the repair. Desperate, I turned to Yelp and found Wayne. After advising me over the phone on how to stop the stream from the valve (open up a faucet, any faucet, to drain residual water from the pipes), Wayne and an assistant arrived within 90-minutes of my call. They assessed what needed to be repaired, went out and got the part, and fixed everything better than new. He even checked a similar install I had done a few days prior in another bathroom, noticed where I had made a misstep, and fixed it. A fix within hours, for less than $100. Finding a good plumber is a little like finding a car mechanic you can trust. It's a needle in a haystack sort of thing. Wayne Clarke is that guy. I called Saturday around noon about a couple of small bathroom plumbing problems. Wayne said he couldn't get to me until Monday but when I explained that I was a school teacher and weekdays didn't work for me Wayne said he would be at my place by 3, three hours after my call. He showed up on time, fixed one problem, went out to get parts for the second problem and was finished by 5. Very reasonable rate, especially for a same-day weekend job. Wayne's my plumber for this point forward. Now if I can just find a good mechanic. read more

I had a leak several months ago. Contacted Wayne. HE never responded. That leak has since sprung again and when I went to text him pics, I realized he's the same one I had tried to reach months earlier but wasn't courteous enough to even acknowledge my phone call, voice message, AND text. Wayne was fantastic. At 7:30 AM, I called him to make an appointment to fix our toilet today. He was pleasant and responsive, offered to come between 11 and 1, and proactively mentioned that he charges $75 just for the visit, but that it would go towards the cost of the service. At around noon, he called to give a heads-up that he was headed over. Once he arrived, he was pleasant, very genial, and had an easy laugh. Gives you the sense that he can solve your problem. After he quickly fixed our toilet, we asked him to look at a problem with our dishwasher (which he promptly fixed by screwing in some pipes under the kitchen sink), and then asked him to check on our boiler (which, again, he did without a fuss). He didn't seem rushed, and wasn't annoyed by our additional requests. And to top it off, he only charged us $150, which felt very reasonable to me, based on some of the preliminary research I did online.
