I ordered a single just the basics lettuce, tomato and just for a little kick pepper jack cheese. So placed the order, 15 minutes later my burger shows up. At first glance it looked appealing. Nice piece of romaine lettuce good slice of tomato all visible, so far so good. Took my first bite and nose dive. The meat had no taste neither did the tomato , the tomato had texture but was tasteless. I reluctantly finished my burger because I was hungry. For all the hype surrounding this place i expected better. As for value, not there. For the same money a Wendy's burger or a McDonald's quarter pounder is a better choice. I'm not sure how they make any profit as they have to make new when mistakes are made. I ordered online to avoid issues and there were still mistakes. The other issue was the stingy toppings I order a garden burger with mushrooms, sautéed onions, lettuce and tomato. Tomato was barely a light orange, mushrooms were from a can and tasteless rubber, onions were almost non-existent and had no flavor. So disappointed and will not be back. This is an in-a-pinch pickup burger place. The last three times I ordered here, I was a bit underwhelmed by the quality and flavor. Personally, I feel like their quality of meat and food has gone down drastically since a year or two ago (especially the chicken). This place has a few locations around CT, and I was expecting a great experience. I rank them no better than 5guys, and all the other burger joints around. Their prices are average. Burgers subpar and they do have a custom burger, and do not charge you if you add many toppings. I added cheese fries, they were about 6$, portion size was very small. I orders a full portion, I guess you can order half, I am thinking half size may have been about 6 fries, I only got about 10 in the tray. That was disappointing. Very disappointing change in level of service, since the change in ownership. Today, was worst of all, and will further reduce my patronage. We were only people ordering, the few other parties in the restaurant had already been served. But the order for 2 came out in 10 minute intervals, I was done before my friend was even served. And on a day we are all watching Corpna, the liquid soap dispenser (not antimicrobial) was empty so I had to ask manager for a new one. Let's eliminate these freestanding bottles. The food is generally enjoyable, hence the 2 stars, but nobody is properly trained at this location. Nobody. Every time I've ordered, something has been screwed up - from forgetting a topping that cost extra, to forgetting my entire order. Seriously! I ordered online a few days ago and a coworker went to the restaurant to pick it up, and he had to call me and ask for my order again because they didn't know what I ordered. The bar is high for me to go on and write a review of a business, especially a negative one, but this Wayback location has diligently earned it. This Jakes opened a while back and I just happened to be in the neighborhood today and decided I would give it a try. I ordered the Rodeo Burger with a side of fries. It's a decent sized double patty burger slightly less greasy than Five Guys (but hey, isn't that part of their charm??) The fries are fresh cut and are just about average. Some were cooked perfect, others almost raw. The thing that sets this place apart is their shakes. Thick shakes made with ice cream in a plethora of flavors. While the shakes are the standout here, they also kill the ambiance. The machine is constantly whirring and is loud enough that it was drowning out that colorful music from the way back 59's and 60's. I swear that every other song was an old time country song proclaiming love or forgiveness from Jesus. Unless you're really into the theme of this place, the food is underwhelming to average.
