Nothing like keeping up with it when you've got three! After seeing good things on Groupon about Asia, I scheduled my appointment with her and headed on in (after exfoliating and skipping the moisturizer that day, of course). Asia was outgoing and friendly and immediately made me feel right at home as I neatly folded my underwear and hid them under my jacket. I mean, when you have someone touching, applying hot wax, and yanking out your hair, um, everywhere down there, you really have to feel some sort of comfort with the person. And so I proceeded to tell her all about my personal life. She rolled with it. Laughed in the right places. Acted shocked in the right places. In other words, made my experience waaaayyyy more enjoyable than a Brazilian wax should be. Yes, it was painful, but my regular bikini waxes at another (not to be named) place hurt way more because there was no conversation, no laughing, no . . . dare I say it . . . fun. Yeah, I said it. I paid the extra fee to have the owner, Destiny, do my brows herself. No messing around. I walked in and she was ready. The space was clean, and I dropped into some casual conversation with her and her coworker with ease. They were both free when I walked in, but both chairs filled within a few minutes. I explained where I was going/my needs, and she did her thing. My brows are a little uneven as far as thickness, so for the first couple of days I added a little fill to the one, but after a couple of days they evened out and still looked great. The shape was perfect, they were the right shade, and gave me the POP I wanted. I went in the ocean multiple times, salty hot springs, hiking in the Mexican sun, endured a myriad of pillowcases in hotels, plus had my sleep mask and several different hats on, and we're still looking pretty good now that I'm home from my adventures. I would definitely consider microshading there in the future. Destiny's vibe might not be right for everyone, but the Browtique was it for me.

They do them for a great price and are able to keep my thick and arched shape that I like. They also have waxing services, which make you come out feeling soft and smooth (like any wax makes you feel). Their facials are affordable and hydrating. The pearl facial is one I used to get often. They were also able to accomodate me within a week so I can have my engagement henna done before flying out for it. If you tell them in advance, they will make the henna themselves or get specific henna based on your needs. They also have some jewelry and dresses you can buy near the front seating area.

I go to Elegant Eyebrows regularly for eyebrow threading, and for my whole face several times a year. But- my favorite thing is the cluster eyelashes. My eyelashes are fine, short & blonde. I can't afford (the $ or time) it takes to maintain individual lash extensions all year. So, when I have a "one off" event or just want to look pretty, I get the clusters. It takes about 20 minutes. They always look great, are ridiculously inexpensive & when I'm ready for them to come off, I just rub oil into them a few times a day until they slide off. (I think they will actually remove them for you, but I've never had to use that service.). Much less (if any) damage than the super expensive, individual lashes. (Not to mention- I am a nightmare of a lash client. My eyes always water, and I have a hard time sitting still. Everyone is always so patient with me! I'd have fired myself as a client years ago!) Must also address: I saw some reviews commenting on lack of safety & Covid protocols. I've been a customer for 2 years. I go there at all different days & times, depending on my work schedule. After reading reviews I decided to take a leap and try out this place yesterday. I'm really glad that I did. I made an appointment from their fb page but they also except walk ins. The place was easy to find, very clean and updated. Their price list that is posted from 2 years ago is the same and they do give a discount for paying cash. Brow service is done in a chair and took about 5 minutes for threading. I also got brows tinted which took about 10 minutes. I was skeptical of finding anyone to do my brows as I had been seeing the same lady in NYC for 11+ years and it was devastating saying goodbye to someone who kept my brows perfect! I asked a colleague of mine for recommendations and she said without hesitation to go see Nisha as she's quick and does a good job. Lucky for me while browsing Groupon I found a great deal on eyebrow threading at Nisha's brow bar (50% off). Eyebrows are normally $10 which is not a bad price! I went today after work to an empty salon and was greeted immediately by Nisha. She asked what services I came in for and asked if I was familiar with threading, which of course I was so there wasn't a whole lot of explaining to do. She asked if I wanted to clean up my brows or wanted to reshape them. After a quick chat to set the stage that I just wanted a clean up of my brows and maintaining the shape, she pointed me to a seat and it was time to hope that I came out with two nice, cleaned up, and even eyebrows. Nisha was super quick and while threading can be painful, her technique minimized the pain as much as possible. In a few minutes she was like you're all done and handed me the mirror to take a look. I was pleasantly surprised that my eyebrows were cleaned up just the way I wanted them. They were even and not taken down too thin and were not super rounded in shape.
