I originally posted this privately to warn my friends only. As it turns out four different families all got sick on the same weekend from Wave Sushi. This is my original post in the Neighborhood page : OP: "Folks - just a heads up bc I don't want to post this on their public review as yet .... I had Wave Sushi deliver for us this past weekend. We shared family style for 5 people (not much bc we were supposed to go out to eat later) and we ALL 5 got sick that night." Many people ask why I did not write a review or call them. I did call them but they were closed. I wanted to give them an opportunity to address it before I wrote a public review. I finally got in touch with them today and the following happened... "UPDATE I talked a nice lady at Wave Sushi who answered the phone and provided her the information with specifics of us getting sick including order number and items. She asked if she could call me back and went to talk to the chef and manager. She called me back to inform me that the owner, manager, and chef do NOT claim responsibility for this, and "deny it's even a possibility as they only use fresh fish". Their conclusion is that "all five of us must have gotten the flu at exactly the same hour coincidentally after we ate (their) food."" I've eaten there many many times. The food was just ok before, but sometimes we need a break from Mexican food. Now they made us sick and denied it was even a possibility. Oh.... and I paid for faster delivery. It was delivered from ordering to door in maybe 20 minutes. You'd think that was a good thing but it didn't help us here. And it's April - very cool outside at night when I ordered. Went there as I was craving sushi and the employee seated us right away!!! The employee was super nice and even gave us some recommendations to try!! Their Kani salad is superb and their sushi rolls amazing!! The udon was super filling and tasty!! I loved that they included shiitake mushrooms as they have a different umami taste than regular portobello mushrooms other places use!! Was very excited to try this place out because it's so close to my home. Ordered delivery to try it out. I eat quite a lot of Japanese food, even took a couple Japanese cooking classes, because I'm a pescatarian with a lot of food allergies. Japanese food is one of the few I can eat. I hate to write bad reviews but the food was not good at all. I know what Japanese food is supposed to taste like and this wasn't it. The miso soup was bland and just tasted like diluted tofu water. I order the yellowtail/hamachi sushi exclusively every time I eat Japanese and not only wasn't it cut correctly it even smelled fishy! That means it's starting to go bad due to improper storage or handling. I chose not to finish the sushi because of that. I didn't want any stomach issues. The sushi rice wasn't seasoned even, just plain rice. And it was pricey, hamachi is normally the more expensive fish but it was pricey even for the regular price. The seafood fried rice was plain bad. It contained only 2 very small scallops, 3-4 very small shrimp, and a few thin pieces of imitation crab (which wasn't indicated I thought I was getting real crab). So very small amount for "seafood" fried rice. Not to mention the whole thing was gross The salmon teriyaki was the only passable thing and that was because they cooked the fish correctly but the sauce was very bland, not a very teriyaki taste and the steamed rice was slightly crunchy. Like the rice??? Why. So all in all I don't recommend this place. I don't have any experience with the service because I got delivery but the food was very subpar. I wish I hadn't spent the money since it wasn't cheap. Drive closer into town you'll find much better worth the cost and travel. read more

Welcome Wave Sushi to Magnolia. We need to be very patient as they work out the kinks every restaurant has upon opening. I don't think they were expecting such high demand for sushi in our humble town. The front row is actually 2 rainbow rolls and the back row is the imperial roll. I think they mixed the Toppings up but it was very fresh and delicious. I hope they have 2 waitresses next time because we will definitely be returning. Thank you Wave sushi! I got so sick!!! First visit was immaculate. Server was prompt and friendly. Sushi was exceptional. I thought this was going to be our spot! As we sat down I literally said I hope this place gets enough business to stay open as they've never been busy when we go. This second visit didn't go as well. Server was lukewarm, seemed nervous even though we were incredibly nice and friendly. Drink refills took a while. Several different types of sashimi were fishy tasting. So much so that there were some I couldn't eat. Luckily we ordered some rolls so I ate those. Unfortunately shortly after I've never been so sick in my life. $90 tab to go down the toilet. I am a huge Asian food lover and visiting this place was great! We were seated right away and served by a polite young lady! Food portions are great. I got the bento box D and loved it. My son and I stopped here on Saturday afternoon. The waitress was so kind, efficient and helpful. The restaurant was beautifully done and nice jazz added to the chill vibe. The menu is extensive with many choices. We had the potstickers for an appetizer. They were amazing! I ordered the shrimp bento box. It was so much food! It was perfectly cooked and the sushi was spot on. I'm glad my teenage son was with me as he had to help me eat it. Ordered from Wave the other night. Was super excited because there's a crap ton of good reviews. But everything was very subpar. Like if I could give less than one star I would. I don't know what these people are eating here to give it such good reviews. But don't, don't do it. Don't make the mistake I did. Three rolls of sushi that ended up in the trash as well as terryaki shrimp which is pretty basic. I don't know how you can mess that up but congrats you did. 50 dollars for shit food. read more

I wanted to like this sushi place. I think they need time to perfect their sushi skills, because in addition to a few fresh rolls, I got a tempura roll. The tempura was way too thick, and because of that, they had to fry it longer. The spicy tuna inside my roll was completely cooked. It did not look or taste appetizing. For reference, I did get the sushi to go, and did not realize what happened until I got home. For now I will stick to Mikado in Egypt. Hopefully they improve because I'd love to have good sushi closer to home. read more
