This place was AWESOME! We drank great local (regional) wine and had a great meal. We had the Pot Roast Melt and pork poutine. Although, we probably should have had the brick oven pizza because it smelled absolutely delicious! BI love the Waterside Wine Bar! The owners work hard at this little hide a way. They provide love music, fantastic food, great atmosphere and it has a view of the water! I recommend you call ahead even with the Covid 19! They fill up fast and because of Civid 19 they have to space everyone. To drive by you would think they could not have much but they do to our suprise. My friend invited my husband and I there for dinner and now my husband is hooked. I say if you like pretzel or bread in general get there prezel! Delish! Now I want one and I just ate!. My husband had pulled pork and said he enjoyed it very much. I had the pretzel and a cranberry salad. Oh my God it was not what I exspected! Wonderful! Full of cranberry and an array of greens and it was big with some chicken on top. Note chicken was not to my liking but I ate some of it as I dipped it in a home made cranberry dressing. Did I mention it was a larg2 sale and they gave a large size of dressing on the side. Nice and thick, I used it for dipping my salad and chicken in it before I ate it. Delish. I would say this is a Phelps Hidden Gem!!. It sits right next to the town waterfalls. The falls lights up at night. Beautiful. It looks small and it is recommend you call first but if you are going through the area it is worth checking it out. Opens at 5pm serves food beer and wine! Spent our anniversary here. We were seated right by the falls. I know it's a wine bar but we are beer people. (Unless my wife is out with friends then she's a wine person) They have a great tap list and a good can and bottle selection. I had Middle Ages Duke of Winship on tap. One of my favorites that I haven't had on tap in years. My wife had Falcon Punch from Lucky Hare, a very solid NEIPA. The food: I had a mushroom Swiss burger with fries. Good size burger cooked as requested. Crinkle cut fries. Would have liked some malt vinegar but they were still good. My wife couldn't decide between the Cuban sandwich special and the BBQ brisket sandwich, so she asked our server and she recommended the Cuban. Good call. Spicy and full of flavor. Suggestion maybe during off hours an answering machine should be used rather than have a rude employee answer the phone and speak to a prospective patron who was just trying to make a reservation. I understand the hours of operation and was not expecting to speak to anyone but also did not expect to be spoken to so rudely. i don't plan on making another trip to this restaurant after tonight when I am meeting a friend to enjoy her sister performing. The owner of this bar has the absolute WORST customer service skills EVER!!! I asked him Ever so politely if there was a way to lower the thermostat where the Reunion Meet and Greet was happening... He instantly snapped on me and told me we had to DEAL WITH IT and I better not tough the thermostat!!!! I assured him I had not touched anything, I just simply wanted to ask... He yelled at me that no one else had better touch it either because it would just put the heat on! Then he yelled over my head, " NEXT!" I was disgusted with him and had to let him know he needs lessons in customer service and why in the world did the reunion planners choose His facility?!!! How am I the first review for this one?! I think there's a reason that the Phelps Chamber of Commerce has all of its' board meetings at the Waterside Wine Bar in Phelps. And no, it's not because we're all a bunch of lushes. The atmosphere is so relaxing and casual, but also elegant at the same time. Love the view of the waterfall from the balcony, and the fireplace room is perfect for intimate meetings and conversation. They offer a great selection of local Finger Lakes wines and microbrewery beers, and other stuff but who can get past Fat Frog Red? The prices are reasonable and the bartender/owner (Al) is a great guy. read more

I had never been there before. Owner was rude, took over 30 minutes for someone to take our drink order, place was not busy. Food was good but definitely needs to work on presentation and add better sides. I had fish tacos, came with just 2 tacos, chips and store bought salsa for $14. For a wine bar it has great beer selection, but wines are from other countries. Should have a NYS white wines in my opinion. Took 4 attempts to get anyone to respond to phone calls about a reservation. Won't be back anytime soon. Seemed understaff which I understand due to pandemic but pizza chef just stood there the entire time while the waitress seemed overwhelmed. I've been here about 3 times total, once for drinks and twice for food. I'm not a huge craft beer or wine person but I can always find something I like! They seem to have a nice selection! My boyfriend and I went for food the first time and got nachos as an appetizer and burgers. The second time I got the smoked brisket and he got some kind of chili chicken sandwich thing(I can't remember what it was called) but everything was ahhhmazing. I don't want to seem rude but in regards to the lady who said the service was terrible because she had to come up to the bar in a previous review: you do have to order from the bar, when it is slow sometimes you can get refills and stuff from the server/bartender, but usually she's working hard at the bar and it is hard for her to cover the entire restaurant and bar. I've never had a problem getting food or a drink when I go up and ask. My dad lives in Phelps and he and his wife love to go to the wine bar for the live music during the summer!! Been here a few times. The first two were amazing. The last few were disappointing. We decided to give it one more try. We didn't have reservations so totally understood that we would be seated inside. The owner was nice and seated us at a table where we could see the outside entertainment. Only one server for the outside and inside. Again...understandable. Ordered our drinks and food. No problem with that service. But when you order a specific burger and get something totally different ...that's a problem. And can anybody tell me when they charge you for a "glass of wine" you only get 1/4 of a glass?? Mind boggling. Not once did "the" waitress come over to ask us if we needed anything or if everything was ok. No water...during our time there we overheard the other owner who was delivering food to another table say to someone...sorry none of the cheese you wanted..we put on cheddar cheese is that ok? Seriously??...you just assume that's ok?? For the amount of money we paid for two burgers and two drinks....we will be taking our money elsewhere. Saddens me because they started out so awesome. Outstanding! Cozy space with a fireplace, perfect for a winter dinner. There is a deck overlooking a stream that must be wonderful in warm weather. Not fancy, you order at the bar, and your food is brought to your table by a waiter. Everything from salads to burgers to steaks is excellent. Prices are very reasonable. We'll be back. read more

Great bbq. Claims to be house smoked, I dont know if that true, but regardless it was excellent. Good pretzel sticks as an appetizer too. There was live music the night I went and sense the guy wasnt playing music I cared for, I was glad that it wasnt too loud, just right. I didn't drink that night and I'm not much of a beer or wine drinker to begin with, but it looked like most people there were there to drink. The place is kinda small and can seem a little crowded but not to the point to where I was bothered. Hope to return soon. read more

Now that the Waterside Wine Bar is offering a full-scale dinner menu in addition to its previous small plate/appetizer and wood-fired pizza offerings, I wanted to weigh in again. My husband and I visited recently for dinner (you'll have to ask for the dinner menu at the bar -- I do wish its availability was more visibly "advertised" as we only knew to ask about it because we'd heard good reviews from friends) and were blown away by the quality and presentation of what we received. I had a gorgeous salad of fresh greens topped with perfectly-seared tuna, sweet peppers, a delicious ginger dressing and a sprinkling of sesame seeds, and the portion was so ample that there was no chance of finishing it. My husband enjoyed a steak burger on a fresh bun, cooked to order, topped with a grilled banana pepper stuffed with a four-cheese blend, and served with perfectly crisp, steaming-hot french fries. After a few bites, we agreed that we'd received a fine dining-quality meal at Applebee's-level prices. We each ordered a second glass of wine and capped off the evening with a romantic stroll around the Wine Bar's newly-expanded outdoor lounge area alongside the waterfall. read more

We just had dinner here last night and oh boy, we're so glad we chose to eat here. We started with a glass of local Wagner Gewurtztraminer and hubby had Rootstock Cider, both were delicious. I had the Stockyard Steak Frites and my husband had the Shrimp Taco. We always split our food and share it so we can taste both. The steak just melted in my mouth like butter and I was wishing I had the whole thing lol! I could not believe this was not Filet Mignon. It was sooo tender. the Spicy Shrimp Tacos also were delicious and if you want to kick it up a notch, just pour the spicy salsa over them and your taste buds will dance!
