What a great place to be!! Service is beyond great, we had server Tucker when the wife and I came in, what a stand up young man! My wife and I live near west bend and we decided to come try something new last week and we couldn't have been happier. We had the chicken dish and a fish fry. Food was great and drinks were also great (wish it was a little stronger but that's just my taste). The chicken was perfectly prepared and had a great skin on it unlike most places where it's not crispy and the sauce was to die for. When I heard this hotel was becoming something new (yet again) I was hesitant, but Immediately walking in I was impressed. The decor and staff are so inviting I was very impressed. Just alright for the first visit. Service was friendly, but slow and slightly awkward. Food was pretty good. Personally, I wouldn't get a burger again as mine was charred on the outside and very pink on the inside. Granted I requested medium-rare, but the burned taste was just distracting and not too appetizing. Others in my party seemed to all enjoy their meals, although we did take a lot home in boxes. Stopped in for lunch to check out the newly rebranded restaurant and hotel and was impressed. Tried the quick lunch which is a half sandwich with either soup or salad. The pressed cuban sandwich and bacon potato soup were both excellent. Will be back for sure. read more

I give this place a 4.5 mainly because with the hotel coming up this area kinda look better and more developed now. The lounge area is pretty nice: I must say the food here is really good. I would be hard pressed to come up with a reason to not rate this spot at 5-stars. With such a rating I would expect fast and friendly service, a comprehensive menu, food that looks good, tastes good, smells good and does not cripple our budget. The trappings must not offend, lighting must be comfortable and the sounds must not obscure a casual conversation with my dinner partners. RBG has it all. Friday evening, we made our third visit to RBG and were immediately seated at our chosen table, I asked for a Porter ale, not to confuse, but to quench my thirst with my preferred beverage. Ann, our waitress returned with a chilled bottle of 'Mud Puppy' and a chilled glass. While this is not billed as a smokehouse, the ribs were awesome, the sauteed squash I chose as my side was excellent. Two dinners with two drinks brought our bill to $42. This is exactly what I would call a five-star experience. UPDATE Last night (4/4/13) we returned for dinner at about 7:00, the dining room was down to a couple of tables left. We had a party of seven which should have been manageable. Our server worked at getting things right but was failed by the kitchen staff. Entrees were up at very poor timing, Five at our table were finished before the last two were served and details were incorrect; a burger ordered with cheddar as served with Swiss, steak ordered medium arrived well done, sandwich ordered w/o onions arrived with. Went to the Sunday Brunch. Only two people working. They were the waitresses, the busers and the people that also refill the buffet.. Not responsive at all. Almost every table dirty. Buffet was empty. Lights weren't even turned on. The place is a disaster. They always had an omelet station. No omelets station. Said we had to order from the kitchen, so we did. Waited literally 25 minutes for the omelets and we were the only table in the whole restaurant besides one other. $13.95 for a disaster. Stay away. read more

For a hotel bar and grill, this is a great food, great fun place to be. Had the Reuben sandwich. The rye bread was fresh and grilled to crispy perfection. The corned beef came right off the roast and was tender and succulent. Husband had prime rib and it was cooked perfectly and was seasoned well well with aromatic herbs to make it a flavor delight. The dill battered cheese curds were an ooey gooey goodness and the batter was light and crispy. Side salads were good looking too. We were there during a Wisconsin Badgers game and they served us free apple pie whiskey shots for every touchdown! read more

I have been to this restaurant several times for burgers. The food and service have been very good every time and I like the feel and ambiance of this place. Four stars and a note of warning because the burgers are consistently undercooked every time I have been there. I like mine served 'med-rare' but I have to ask for medium at this restaurant. My fiancé and I stayed at the hotel attached so we decided to venture out and visit the bar of Rbg bar and grill. First I would like to note how clean and organized it felt at first glance! We walked over to the bar and we were greeted with a big smile and hello from Becky. We sat down and Becky took our drink ordered promptly and made us two fantastic margaritas. Becky was very informative on the menu and our questions. We decided to go with the soup of the day(chicken and wild rice) which was light but flavorful and delicious, we had the wings extra crispy for an app. We decided to go with half Malaysian and half Buffalo and to be honest they were probably the best wing we have ever had! Finally my fiancé ordered the Brimstone burger with tots rare as possible and I'd like to say it came RARE! A lot of places over cook meat in our opinion but this burger was seated perfect! Great buffalo flavor, creamy cheese, tasty fresh bun! Fantastic burger all around! The tots were tots with a little extra flavor, tots but good. So the food was very tasty and way above average American cuisine! Becky our bartender made an amazing margarita, was a phenomenal host, great conversationalist and all around made our experience that much better! I give it a high rating because it is a hotel bar and grill which typically are horrible. While I have only berm there for lunch I have been pleasantly surprised. The burgers and salads are great. One of my favorites is the salmon salad, you get a large portion of salmon and the greens match. It is a great place for a business meeting and the lunch staff is wonderful and quick to get your order and refills. It is worth a try even though the place has gotten bad press due to the former management/owners who have left the hotel and restaurant in the hands of the village. I'm gonna' give this place one star because I can't give it zero. The service was excellent, but the food was horrific. I had the bbq pork rib sandwich. First it came cold, laying over a bed of soggy french fries. Sent it back and then got bbq pork with NO sauce left on it, dried completely out (after being microwaved, I am guessing) covered in COLD cole slaw...which I have NEVER seen in my life, nor do I ever WANT to see it again. Enjoyed a fish fry at RBG Grill last evening. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Top notch Bloody Mary, very attentive service by Lindsay, and a most enjoyable meal. Ordered the broiled cod. The serving was large and well prepared, included bread with boursin cheese spread, tossed salad, cole slaw, tater tots and three different types of tarter sauce. We will be back. I am usually not a complainer BUT this was THE WORST SERVICE I have ever experienced. This is not an exaggeration. After waiting for the hostess for an eternity to even recognize us, we were finally seated at a table. It took approximately another 15 minutes for a "waitress" to lay napkins at our table. We still have no menus at this point. We ordered two beers, which we waited about 20 minutes for. That was it. The waitress NEVER came back. The table next to us, which came in after us, received food before we even were able to get menus. We finally walked out. I was not about to waste any more of my time or money at this disorganized establishment. Unless you want to waste your time, your money, and get aggravated on top of it, do NOT go to RBG. read more

Went for a Thursday afternoon lunch, it also was my birthday. We walked in and were seated immediately. The upholstery was dirty, decor dark and it was very cold in temperature.. We mentioned it was our first time so the server brought us a huge bowl of greasy cold onion strings as a complimentary appetizer. My husband said we should have left but I insisted we stay. I should have listened to my husband. We ate a few onion strings and decided to wait for our meal. He ordered a blue cheese burger and tator tots. The tots were ice cold and the burger too. So cold in fact the slice of cheese was cold and not nearly melted. He described it as a average burger you get in a high school lunch cafeteria. My meatball hoagie, wasn't a hoagie at all. Instead I got mushy pork with cold marinara sauce and unmelted provolone on a cold round bun. Needless to say, it took about 20 minutes before I had to stop at the local gas station and empty the contents of my lunch in the bathroom toilet. I couldn't even make it home. Make a better choice and go somewhere else, at least you have the chance of keeping it in your stomach for more then 20 minutes. McDonald's is better then this place, at least you know what your going to get and how it's going to make you feel. I felt sick all afternoon! read more
