Happened here by accident in between airport runs. Wanted to grab a drink and kill sometime, spotted this spot on the side of the highway and decided why not. Figured it was a local dive bar but really didn't know what to expect. Everyone was really nice. The bartender was friendly and the local who came in around the same time as us was also very friendly. We also happened to come in during happy hour so our round of 4 beers was super cheap! We played some pool, hung out and made it back to the airport for the second pickup all very efficiently. Looking at the other reviews it looks like it can get really lively other parts of the day. If you are looking for a dive bar or roadhouse, this is a solid option. read more

This is the place I sought out every morning as I was heading to a gig : creating a fake "set" of what a Texas Roadhouse is supposed to be. Finally after days of emulating the illusion of an atmosphere for tourists, I had the opportunity to stop by. This place is an actual Texas Roadhouse with all the charming intellectuals and authentic environment you could hope for. I'd rather be here than anywhere in "modern" Austin. Friendly people here, who seem like they're really into playing pool! Was too hot to sit outside, but they have a great beer garden outside. Downside is they only have beer and wine, and wine is Sutters, and I was in the mood for an interesting cocktail...the kind bartender suggested trying Sign Bar about 15 min away, which had a very cool vibe and awesome drinks! read more

This place is amazing! The DJ Tim is awesome. The bartender I met Jay, is great! They are all nice people there and make you feel welcome and everyone is like a super cool family! The beer is all gopd and the pizza is delicious! It is my favorite place to go in the Cedar Creek Bastrop area. Bravo! 5 stars. read more

I came here for my Aunt's birthday (who is coincidentally one of the owners; full discretion here). Sitting next to a XXX store off the side of the freeway, it's not the kind of bar you'd find on east 6th street. It smells like cigarette smoke, and the patrons only add to the bar's character. That being said, I set aside my initial bias and ordered a pitcher. Yes, they were out of the beer I initially wanted, but I easily settled for Miller Lite. After a round or two, I stopped smelling the smoke and started enjoying the bar and the live band playing rowdy zydeco-esque music. If you're looking for a small-town feeling, locals only type bar and don't mind a little cigarette smoke, grab a couple of open minded friends and go on a night when a live band is playing. read more

Came to Austin two summers ago to work on the F1 track and stumbled upon this little bar. First time I was there the bartender made me feel like a local and I made this my place to go. It is exactly the kind of place I look for, pool tables, good juke box and friendly atmosphere. This is a no frills, just hang out and have a good time kinda place. They have live bands on occasion and karaoke three times a week. I would give it five stars but a lot of country music gets played and that's just not my thing. If you don't like smoke then think twice about coming because this is a smoking establishment. Overall a great bar. read more

Saturday Night out with the boys, and they decide to go to this little hole in the wall.. Boo right? Well to my surorise they had one of the best hip hop shows showcasing an artist by the name of Gillaman from a company Hoodfella Ent. The building was alive...Hands in the air, head bobbing, it was capped off with a freestlyle showcase from all of the acts and we ate it up!! Good times, great prices and the vibe was all we could ask for!! read more

A diamond in the rough, a dive but a pleasant and welcoming dive that I am reluctant to share in the hopes of preserving such a gem from the monotony of modern Austin douchery. This place is what these jaded bones desire, good local drinks, good local peeps, good open mic music and just outside Austin city limits where the real folk come out to unwind. Outside Austin but not OUTSIDE Austin. Awesome open grilling area and a kick ass unused live outdoor stage!!!! Ohh the potential. Mixed patrons from local farmers, to the local cholo, to the middle aged businessman, this place is an outskirts Cheers, and rightfully so. This is a great little honky-tonk bar located in Del Valle about 7 miles east of the airport. It's about 10 minutes west of Bastrop. It's located next door to an adult video store and a person might not normally stop there at first glance. But we did and had a great time. Not a lot of people know about this place. There are a lot of different beers including 7 or 8 on draft and good wine. A great thing is that the prices are a lot less than Austin (around $2.00 for Happy Hour for most beers. Happy Hour is noon to 7:30 every day. There is another bar about a mile down the road (Cindys Hog Wild) and the drinks are a lot less at the Waterhole than they are at Cindys. Plus the place has air conditioning. It also has WiFi. They have horseshoes out back with a biergarten. There are pool tables, darts, foosball, and a little shuffleboard. Monday nights there is a sing-along piano night and the piano player is from New York and he is great and knows hundreds of songs. I have also gone to the Open Mic night on Thursday night - only one I know of that is on the east side of Austin. We heard Mary Welch and her band a couple of times. They are fantastic. read more

Not worth the visit if you prefer good service, a nice crowd, and friendly staff. The patrons whine about the place and speak very negatively about the owner and the establishment, making it difficult to enjoy the bar. The staff are rude, and I have personally witnessed one bartender, Keith, scamming customers by charging them for drinks they did not order. The staff prefers to play pool rather than tending bar. Live music is played here, but the locals prefer to listen to the jukebox. I will not return to this bar due to its reputation and lack of good service. read more

My boyfriend and I have gone to this bar on several nights, either karoke or live band nights on Saturday. Great atmosphere and the bartenders are very attentive and friendly. Everyone here makes you feel welcome and beer prices are good,considering a few minutes up the road another bar charges way to much!
