Great atmosphere but the food...lobster bun tasted like a tuna fish sandwich made yesterday. Chowder was on point.

Not very tasty, pathetic portions, and expensive.... Don't bother. It's disappointing.

Don't be in a hurry, but the food is excellent. Open air dining if you choose, but no shade. The back of the restaurant opens to the view and there is a lovely breeze and ambiance. read more

The food is adequate to good. We ate there twice while in Halifax, once for light lunch, and later for dinner. In total, we had Caesar salad, smoked salmon, fish and chips, and seafood thermidor. All certainly acceptable, and quite inexpensive given the favorable exchange rates. But-the waitstaff was among the best. Friendly, efficient, and with impeccable timing, even with a full house. You never go to a restaurant for the waiters, but they can spoil the experience. These folks won't disappoint. Shout out to Spence, who took care of us tonight. read more

Unfortunately I can't give negative stars. And even more unfortunate, I didn't read other reviews before walking into the Waterfront Warehouse. We were strolling the waterfront looking for a sushi restaurant when we came across this one. We took a look at the menu and decided we could get sushi back home, but couldn't get good authentic fish dishes. It was a little pricey, so we considered that meant it would be worth it! We decided to order two appetizers and split an entree. We ordered: calamari and ahi tuna to start, followed by blackened haddock. We were told the haddock was not available, so opted for 5-spice cod. The appetizers came out almost immediately after the waiter left our table... That was a bit of a surprise and concern - are these plates pre-made and stacked in a fridge waiting to be ordered? Yes. Yes, can be the only answer. The calamari wasn't even visible on the plate. It was loaded with crispy onion, which tasted better than the 6 cold pieces of calamari underneath! The 3 pieces of ahi tuna were stone cold and rubbery, and tasted like it had been sitting un-covered in a fridge for a few days. We immediately cancelled our main course, paid our ridiculously over-priced bill and left. It took everything in my power not to warn others as we walked out. After reading through some of the over reviews this place must be hit and miss , my experience was meh .. and with so many other great places to choose from in downtown Halifax, I wont be back anytime soon. We ordered the calamari as a shared appetizer between three and after it was plunked down in the middle of our table and we actually had to go looking for utensils and we never did get side plates, and since they are served in a sauce sharing from the same plate wasn't really what I would call ideal. Overall impression, pricey and unimpressive. read more

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had. Weren't told of the specials, received my dish that had been heated under a light for awhile. But it wasn't bad, not worth the price though. My wife ordered chicken and clearly asked if their were thighs (only part she doesn't like) and were assured it was white meat and a leg and a wing. Received two thighs and a wing. Our server wan't checking in with us so we waved down another server who told us to keep the dish (which was overcooked and not even as good as KFC) and agreed to a new order of fish and chips. Our server came back and took the chicken telling us we couldn't have it unless we paid for it. No apology. Received the fish (I'm finished my meal now), totally overcooked, batter was terrible and hard and dark brown. Server was no where to be found until bill time. Guess what. No tip and won't go back again. Bicycle Thief has similar prices and the food and ambiance is not in the same league, much better. read more

It is on my list of 10 Worst places I've eaten in the last 50 years. I ordered crabmeat salad with pita chips. I received stale(not toasted) slices of faux french bread with a dab of yellow oil with dried parsley. The salad was of 1/2 cup almost thawed crab with a tsp of sauce and a thinly sliced iceberg lettuce leaf. When I told the waitress that the menu said pita chips she informed me that it said bruschetta. She went to check and said I was wrong. I checked on the way out and she had lied-menu said pita chips. I wouldn't feed the bread to a pigeon. Lunch for three without alcohol or dessert came to $59 for 3. The place is an embarrassment to Halifax. The attitude of the staff was aloof and rude. The place smelled moldy . . Hopefully it will be closed next time I visit Halifax. read more

This was a prime example of going with your first instinct. We got off the ship and were walking around the waterfront looking for a place to eat. We passed this place up, because the locals told us to go to Murphy's. Well, we did, but they had a long wait and most of it was reserved for parties. Not to mention it was in the mid 70's that day and they didn't have A/C or it wasn't on. It was very warm in there. So, we stopped a lobster roll stand, which was disappointing. On the way back to ship, my sister had not eaten, so we stopped here. They had a GREAT menu. She got an awesome salad, that was huge and she got a Bloody Caesar, which is a Bloody Mary made with Clamato. My Dad had a glass of wine and I had a Garrison Pale Ale from a local microbrew. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The service was also excellent. Our waitress was very sweet and knew the menu very well. The inside of the place is awesome as well. It had two great bars. It was a huge place, great for groups, parties and kids. And it had some awesome seafood station where I guess they shell all of the fresh seafood and scale the fish and such. I was very impressed. Hope to go back there and try the food myself. My sister said her salad was one of the best ever. read more

Not worth the effort. Wife's mussels were tasty, and a good portion. I have a 'policy' that I rate a restaurant's return worthiness by the appetizer. I ordered the calamari - very small potion, over cooked and very bland. We may be back for drinks some time, but definitely not for a full meal. Waitress was excellent - hence the 2 stars. Dinned here by myself last week. The hospitality was fantastic and the food was delicious. Very cozy atmosphere with a touch of class.

Chowder was awesome. Fish and chips were epic. Server was average. Hostess took forever to show up to seat me.

$15 for crab cake appetizer. 90% bread, I couldn't find any crab. $27 Haddock and chips were extremely greasy. Fry cook was either inexperienced or fryer was broke and they didn't know the oil temp. Large building on the waterfront so I'm guessing their overhead was so high they were skimping on kitchen staff. read more

I think this place is trying for a higher-end restaurant experience and I have to say it misses the mark. The seating area inside is just an open space that is not very appealing. I've been here a few times and be prepared, no matter what you order, it will take a long time to get it. The food is ok, nothing outstanding and certainly not worth the price they charge or the wait they put you through. read more

If your ever in downtown Halifax and craving fish & chips let me tell you there are a lot of places to choose from, but in my opinion the best in town is from the waterfront restaurant. Started with some oysters. They were good, but the sauces provided with it were .... forgettable. Had the blackened haddock. It was extremely salty. It was placed on top of some vegetable stuffed pasta square which was bland. The two items were doused in some tasteless sauce and a handful of parsley was put on top of all this for, decoration???!!! Won't come back. Gave 1 star because overall shouldn't be a 3. Needs to be a 2 at best. read more

Good selection of Beer on tap. Artichoke and crab dip is delicious but short on portion size. I had the Digby scallops with a tamarind emulsion, which was flavourful but far to sweet for my liking. My wife had the Seafood Thermidor which was delicious, and contained a healthy serving of a variety of fish. Decent place to go for seafood, average service indoors, and much slower service in the patio. read more

Wait staff spilled a beer and swore like a sailor. Ordered mussel which had gone bad, and a couple of oysters which I am told were 'good'. However there were some mice walking about and we had to move some decor to prevent them from coming back after the third time we scared them off. Would not go back, there are many better seafood places in Halifax. read more

Worst restaurant experience in 20 years. $53 small lobster (before incidentals), which had not been precracked as we were told it would be, 3 oysters for $15, and this is Lunch. Poor and very lengthy service (at one period did not see the waitress for 40 minutes), this cost us nearly 1/2 a day of our vacation because rain was coming. The food itself was mediocre, at best. This restaurant sent mixed signals as the outside decor and parts of the interior were shabby(raw seafood was present and sold in the dining area), but the waitresses were dressed in cocktail dresses for lunch. read more

We love seafood, but this place is horrible!! We were on a cruise and stopped here for lunch. Bad service, horribly over priced and the food was disgusting. No flavour at all and absolutely no presentation. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone whatsoever. read more

We decided to have dinner here and were looking forward to it. All our past experiences were really good. This time around was a lot different from the food to service. We ordered a variety of starters so we had options. We didn't get one of the items when our food came out so we reminded our server and he eventually brought it out. The mussels were way over cooked and we had to toss most of them because of the bad smell. The chowder was browned on the top and looked like it had been sitting for awhile or microwaved to be heated. We took a couple spoons of it and could not eat it, tasted horrible. We advised the server we could not eat it and he took it away. Once we got our bill we brought up that the chowder was still on the bill. They got their manager who came over to tell us the chowder was fine because his cook tasted it. We questioned that response and asked why because his cook says it's fine we are still being billed for something that clearly did not taste fine because we didn't eat it and sent it back. The manager replied back with "that's a risk you take when you eat at a restaurant.. Maybe you won't like the food but here you still pay" If that's the way you promote your business and deal with unsatisfied customers by telling them it's their risk and not your problem, that's fine, but you won't see us back there and we will certainly let everyone know about the food and service levels. Don't waste your time there are TONS of amazing seafood restaurants in Halifax with much higher standards in food quality and service. read more

We were in town during their lobster feast and it was amazing! $26 or so for a whole lobster?! Yes please! We were only in town for a week and we went to this restaurant 3 times... it was that good. The service was amazing! My husband and I wanted to try some raw oysters (he hadn't ever had them and I had them once before many years ago and wasn't a fan.. but willing to try again). Our server was so great in helping us choose the best "beginner" oysters for us. We were so happy with our experience we tried oysters two more times (once somewhere else another night and once on our 3rd visit back to this place). We had our 14-month old son with us as well and the servers were so great and making sure we (and he) had everything we needed to have a great meal. We will 100% be back to this restaurant if we're ever in Halifax again and I've already recommended this restaurant to two different couples who I know are visiting Halifax in the next few months.
