I have been with Water Tech as a lessee since 2012. I have leased a water softener and an RO System. Service by the DeGrave family was excellent. I never had an issue. After the company was sold, customer service has declined to the point where I am discontinuing my business with the company. Customer service personnel are rude, have no skills, and are actually insulting when I ask for service. Today an employee told me to take my business elsewhere. They apparently do not have the staff, or the skills necessary to run the business. Beware of this company, it is now owned by a large corporation. Their purpose is to make money. This company is about the worst company l I've ever had to deal with. I had them install a water softener and reverse osmosis (RO) system in my home about 5 years ago. Their RO system sucked. It broke down and completely stopped working (a dribble, to no water) about every 6 months. I would have to call them out and get a repair and pay for it! I finally replaced their RO system last year with a self-installed APEC system and have never looked back - totally reliable constant water pressure, highly recommended! In addition, I commissioned Water Tec to deliver potassium for my water softener after they installed it. Again totally unreliable! I instructed them to fill up the potassium bin and leave three extra bags of potassium every time they delivered. Did they do that? No! They filled up the tank but didn't leave any extra bags on multiple occasions. I just went out to inspect the potassium bin tonight and it's completely empty again. I've had it with them. Don't go with this company. You will regret it. If I could have given them no stars I would have. read more

Formerly a local business (which is part of why I went with them originally), bought out by a national company, apparently, in 2023. This has, apparently, drastically affected the price of their regular maintenance service calls, which has almost quadrupled in the last few years. I called to request service to replace filters on the osmosis system, but was shocked that the price quoted was more than the total original installation, done in 2018. They give you the impression that nobody else will service their system, that you're forced to work with them if you want to continue using the system you bought from them - this is misleading, at best. You can search Yelp for Water Purification Services and find technicians who have worked with Water Tec and now own their own SMALL LOCAL businesses, and they will service your existing system for FAR LESS, with zero hassle and will show up on time, using the same exact brand of parts and materials. read more

Completely unorganized. Was told a date and a time but they "never printed it out because they had computer problems." I was never notified of anything, no phone calls were made to me. They only realized this when I called in to ask why my apt was missed. Manager just wanted to say oh well it's a computer issue, can you be there in 3 hours? When they came to service my system instead of flushing it after they changed the carbon, they should have flushed it out. A hose bib outside. Instead, they flushed it through the house. So that means everything got clogged. Water pressure dropped in the showers. Toilets did not flush properly. What was I told it was all premature and they were not responsible. So that means they are absolutely not responsible people. If they make a mistake, they aren't gonna own up to nothing. That means also, they are absolutely dishonest people. If you have them come service your system, you need to babysit them closely and ask lots of questions. Otherwise you're gonna have made your problems. Found out that the delivery service isn't what's represented. Since 2018 I've paid for it with the understanding that the system was being checked for softness. They install a faucet at the system when it's installed, the reason is so that they can monitor it and be able to upsell new systems and do repairs at the $150 service charge. My system wasn't working for it appears to be several months and the salt level wasn't going down, it all came to ahead when they started stacking salt bags on top of the tank. I was told during my conversations over this that the company has a hard time keeping route people, my response was maybe they should pay them better and get better people. Sent two emails to the owner and never received a response. After failing to show up for a scheduled service appointment they finally did and replaced a defective/failed part and the system was ultimately functional. Highly recommend that if you're lazy and unmotivated try opening a soft water company in Tucson with all the hard water and provide poor customer service. Previously had Culligan and it was a similar experience but at least they provided refunds for their issues when caught. read more

I called Water Tec for a service visit, the first since we moved into our house. The technician did the needed service and, as he was preparing to leave, he pointed out a benign sticker on my neighbor's car and began trying to engage me with questions and comments about guns and equal rights--contentious issues that I didn't feel comfortable discussing with him. But he persisted. I'm an older woman, and his demeanor left me shaken. To me, his behavior felt unprofessional and inappropriate, no matter which side of the issues we each were on. I made an appointment to change the water filters in my house's water softener system; they scheduled the appointment more than 10 days out and were supposed to call me on 17 May; they never did! When I called them, they indicated they could not replace the filters because the water softener system was over 10 years old...They could have told me that from the get go and not make me wait for over 10 days since they have been servicing this system since 2007. We were told by Water Tec they would need to change the lines in our reverse osmosis system due to the age of the system. The service tech arrived only to tell us they could not do the service because their new parent company won't let them work on other systems (ours is Hague) so our only choice was to have a new system put in. Don't trust Water Tec unless you have their system installed even though they have serviced our systems for a number of years. I feel like they have just put the screws to us instead of giving us time to research other better or less expensive options. It's amazing that I have to write this review over something so trivial, but what I describe below is unfortunately indicative of the lack of customer service that has become so common across several industries. On September 15th, 2017, George and his assistant installed a new water softening unit at my home. At the beginning of the installation, I specified that I wanted to keep my old brine barrel for a home project. After completing the installation and collecting my payment, George assured me upon leaving my residence that the old brine container was placed where I requested it. Minutes later, I discovered that the cover of the brine barrel was not left behind (as I requested), but was placed in George's truck. After trying to call and text George to bring the cover back and receiving no response, I spoke to someone named Greg at Water Tec on Saturday the 16th, receiving assurances that he would look into the matter and get the cover back to me by Monday or Tuesday of the following week. George called me on Monday morning stating he would look for the cover. On Wednesday when I called him to follow up, he told me he did not locate the cover in his truck, but that he would find and deliver one to me. After speaking to George over the course of a week and receiving assurances that the cover would be returned to me as soon as he was working on the east side again, I still do not have the cover as September 26th. George has refused to say when he will bring the cover back to me, simply saying he will at some point. Despite placing three more calls to Greg at Water Tec on September 23rd and 26th to follow up, I have still not heard back. So, a customer spends $1147 on a new water softening unit and no one at Water Tec can take 30 minutes to drive to my residence to drop off a $10 cover to a brine tank, which should have been left at the residence in the first place per the customer's instructions? This is very annoying and reflects the arrogance of someone who thinks they can just assume they have my future business. Seriously annoyed..... Within minutes of posting this review, I received a message from Greg assuring me that George would deliver that cover to my residence later today, September 26th. Looks like Yelp keeps everyone honest! George delivered the cover at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, September 26th. Thanks! UPDATE: I just want to thank Leigh Graves for reaching out to me to correct this situation to my complete satisfaction. I could not do business with this company as they required full payment prior to the final inspection by the county. Permits are required for a full replacement of a softener system. Water Tec first asserted no permits were required. I checked with Pima County and they are on a full replacement. The day the system was to be installed I inquired about how Water Tec was going to handle the inspection. I advised that I was not paying in full until the system passed the required inspection. The owner of the company accused me of trying to not to pay. I don't know who would pay in full for anything that had not yet passed a required inspection. If you still choose to do business with this company, make sure you have a very specific contract. Also be aware that despite their website asserting they always follow code, the appear to be very unfamiliar with the permitting process. Response by Water Tec is not correct. I advised I would not pay in full until the system passed inspection. I have already located a company that is happy to abide by the codes. read more

I was very unhappy that it took over 4 hours to install a water softener. The water lines were there and just needed to be connected. The drain needed to be installed in the attic. I thought I would get a call to ask if everything went well with the installation and that it is working. No they just took my money. For a family business they sure don't show it. Like I said, at least coming from a Chippendale it would have gone over better or someone that knew the products. There was nothing dangerous in the water...no heavy metals, bacteria, nothing...they want to rip people off!!! Watch out!!! The salesman had to keep calling someone for information on the water system, he didn't even have knowledge about the equipment. He also has no public health knowledge. I have both a medical and public health degree, and these people try to fabricate problems with water that is hard. There was no arsenic or selenium in the water, by the way. Scary. Water Tec would not lift a finger to help resolve a plumbing issue in my home that needEd to be correctEd for the softener to work. Not even a pressure test to determine if installation was feasible. After paying them up front for a full install and writing on the receipt they would come back and start up the system once resolved, they refused to do so. I had to spend half a day reading everything and activate the system myself. Leaving multiple messages does not work. They won't call back once they have your money. Do not use Water Tec! read more

This company is bad to deal with. I had two systems put in around 6 years ago. From the day the systems were installed I have had issues. When it was installed, the upstairs line for the freezer wasn't hooked up correctly. When I called, a male representitive said "WELL IT SHOULD BE", and hung up on me. When I called back and demanded a supervisor, the agreed to send a tech out the next day and then tried to charge me for their mistake. I have had the filters changed several times, and each time, there has been a mistake which required the company to return. Once the water wasn't turned all the way back on resulting in poor flow. Another time we left right after the filter change appointment and came home to a flood from the water leaking below the cabinet and all over my hard wood floor. The tech returned and fixed the leak but refused to address the ruined wood in the cabinet. Since that time the system will not even fill up a cup full of water. Recently I had a woman call me from there offering to come replace my filters and quoted me $150 per system. I tried to get her to address the issue of the system not being able to fill a cup. All she could do is talk over me and be in control of the conversation, so I told her no and hung up. Today I called to maybe speak with someone who would listen and also to get the filters changed and make the system work properly the first time. The representitive told me it would be $180, which is 30 more than the rude lady quoted me just a couple months ago. I asked if he could honor the price she quoted me said no. I also mentioned the fact they have never did the job right the first time and the ruined the wood in the cabinets. I recieved the "oh well" attitude. While we were gone for three months, apparently our water softener leaked. Came home to find salt residue all over the floor, and piled up along the exterior of the tank. Took three calls/messages before we were able to schedule an appointment. But once the tech got there he immediately said there was a defect in the tank. He had brought a replacement, so we didn't have to wait any longer. Didn't help clean up the salt residue that had continued to leak, nor did he have any idea as to what needed to be done to clean it up. But he did verify, and my suggestion, that the unit was under warranty. So we only? had to pay for "shipping" and one hour labor. read more

Water Tec worked hard with me to try and fill my needs. My request to install a water softener and filters in the configuration I needed were not very common, so I got a time and materials with a not-to-exceed estimate. I had bought the filters and softeners on line from another source. The plumbers came and worked as expeditiously as they could, George was the actual plumber that installed my units, very friendly and professional guy. They also responded very quickly to a very, very small drip that developed and within a day they had sent another plumber to take care of it. I got several calls from Water Tec and it seemed that they had put in motion everyone in their shop to cure the problem. Did not get my invoice for a while, I was told they only send invoice once a month, which baffled me a bit, buy hey, it's their money and system. I also requested an itemized bill (since it was time and materials) and that took a while to get. But once I left a message to Leigh, it was promptly taken care of. Anyway, the billing situation will soon be forgotten, but the good workmanship and the understating of my unusual situation will remain for a long time. I tried to get a quote from Water tech. Had an appointment on a Monday between 12-2 . I called them at 230 and they said they had me down for Tuesday. They asked me if I could have gotten it wrong. Which I get, that happens but I am 100 percent sure I didn't as I had to work on Tuesday and wrote the appointment on our calendar as we made it and it was confirmed back to me. They weren't apologetic whatsoever about inconveniencing me or weren't concerned about losing my potential business after I told them I was going to give another company a chance before I rescheduled with them... disappointing experience. I just removed their Evolution Water System installed on July 21, 2017. Please understand my purpose in writing today is to warn those who have recently purchased from Water-Tec and have an outside installation that the materials used will leak if exposed to the sun in less than four years. I am especially concerned when reading on Next Door the poor service delivered to a 91-year old woman by Water-Tec. I am an engineer and have the experience to do the type of repairs and research that was needed to repair the leaks. Within 18 months the cartridge filter system leaked. I was able to duplicate the cartridge filter at Home Depot. Since then I have replaced one of the connections on the media filter canister. Last week I noticed the top fitting on the media filter was leaking. Through my research I have it on good authority that these parts used by Water-Tec are not made for outdoor installations that are directly in the line of the sun. I recommend that if you have a Water-Tec system and it is installed outside the home exposed to the sun that your cover it with something that keeps the sun off their fittings. 8/9/2017  In response to a Yelp posting dated 8-8-17 by Leigh D. the owner of Water-Tec I am told. It is true that I told Rick that I would give Water-Tec a less than five star rating if I did not get what I was promised. I was promised by a Water-Tec employee 20% discount. A 20 % discount would have been over $400 versus the $250 I settled for. The pen is mightier than the sword comment was made when I agreed to avoid arguing with Rick. Leigh goes on to say, "I am puzzled by several comments made by the home owner that I think were added for affect. "After a number of failed attempts....." beginning Monday 7-24-17 Water Tec tried unsuccessfully to schedule a follow up visit for that week but was unable to schedule with the home owner." Here Leigh demonstrates that Water-Tec will perform only at their convenience versus the buyer. Leigh goes on to say, " Secondly, at no time was there ever any mention of discoloration of water to anyone on our staff. The home owner is correct that this does typically disappear within a day or two as in this case." Why was this not disclosed by a Water-Tec employee?" Further Leigh writes, "On 7-13-17 the home owner accepted our proposal to install a new system with an install date of 7-21-17 in the morning. Due to a record month of rainfall during our monsoon season we had a couple of jobs that were delayed. The morning before the scheduled install, Marco spoke to the home owner to ask if we could move the install to later in the day. Although many companies give an AM (morning)or PM (afternoon) our customers are given a 2 hour time window for arrival. Marco gave an arrival time window for the following day of 11am-1pm. which the home owner accepted. During the conversation the home owner did ask for a discount at which time Marco documented the request." What Leigh fails to write is Marco promised me 10% discount for such a huge favor. Marco also said that the instal would be promptly at 11 AM without a two hour window. Using Leigh's words he goes on to say, "The following day the home owner called between the 11am to 1pm time window asking when the installer would be arriving. The installer was completing his previous install and would call when finished. Again, the home owner asked for an additional discount. At approximately 1pm the installer spoke to the home owner that he was in route and he did indeed arrive at 1:30 pm. The installer was 30 minutes out of his time window but there was a conversation with the customer during this time as is company policy for a late arrival. During the installation it was discovered that excess concrete had been poured (covered by dirt) which resulted in additional labor to remove. Once the concrete was removed there was a shortage of dirt to correctly complete the job that afternoon. The installer returned the following morning (Saturday) with the necessary dirt and completed the job. Although this was an unforeseen additional expense Water Tec never asked to alter the original quote." It should be noted that there was never a two hour window given even as Leigh states is his company policy. I would have been happy to live with a two hour window were it offered. Most importantly is we paid an up charge for the jack hammering as written by Rick in the proposal. Rick and I even discussed this at the site of installation as I had just had Valentine Plumbing install a gas line where they also had to use a jack hammer to bury the pipe.
