Okay, we had an 'issue' in our house. I researched the reviews (quickly!) and decided Cal's had such great reviews it was a clear choice. But I didn't really get the service we had hoped for with a gentleman named Matt W. He EXCEEDED all our expectations!! First of all he was thorough and explained what was going on which kept me from crying, and no one needs to see THAT! His eyes said It all when he first saw the 'issue' but found the problem quickly. And I wouldn't have found it on my own in a million years and I'm not a stupid woman either. Anyway, besides being efficient and very professional, he was a very kind man. He was very considerate of the house which meant a lot to me. He completely explained the situation and gave a few options for us to decide what worked best for us. He could have raked us over the coal$ but was a man of integrity and being presented with options and potential outcomes, we felt confident with our choices. He didn't leave until he was certain all our questions were satisfied. I hope the owner takes notice and when it is time for evaluations and treats him well. You want him to represent your company! I wasn't expecting to spend so much money on broken pipes, a new toilet and pipes in the wall, but they were honest, worked really hard, went beyond the call of duty...Dane was who I dealt with and he was great. Very professional and gave as many discounts as he could. Everything has worked perfectly. I will call them again if needed. So a repeat customer and had a new faucet install in a newer home. Was quoted over $400 for install after a $100 faucet install credit. I said no way; Googled average faucet install in Tucson from $150-$250. The technician got a little defensive and I said I'd pay $300 out of pocket max. A couple seconds later he had adjusted to $295. He did a good install, took him literally 20 mins to install. Received a f/u call from Cal's and I complained on initial quote. They were going to have a Supervisor call me back and never did. I thought it was a little rip-offy and I'm sure they take advantage of seniors who just agree with whatever. Not me! read more

Did a great job 6 years ago installing a tankless water heater, so they were my first choice when the scale filter setup needed work. In the meantime, they've automated some communications. Including a text, five hours after expected, saying the plumber had arrived. He had not. Some time later, he called to let me know it would be another 30 minutes or so. This is a ripped off company. I agreed with Karla. It's happened same to me. Today I spent more than 1,200 dollars to clear my sewer system, but the tech had to found the clog but can't clear it, and he gave up packed and gone. He said he can't do anything more about it. His job is found the clog and clear it. He found it ,but didn't want to finish it. I kept asking he to snake further with axtra65 feet that I paid 200 bucks for it, but he didn't and stopped. Can't say enough good things about Cals representative Gabriel Aguilar! Had a separation in my upstairs washer drain at the condo. Ended up having to cut out drywall, wet insulation and a ton of old antiquated plumbing. I hired Cal's to replace a copper sink in my bathroom with exactly the same one. The tech spent about 1.5-2 hours on the job - removing the old sink and faucet, dropping the new one in, adding silicone, and reattaching the same faucet. I was in complete sticker shock when I found out they were charging me $500 for this very straighforward job - I supplied the sink, and no additional parts were needed. (The last time I had a bathroom sink replaced, it cost less than $100 to do the same job.) The work was a touch sloppy as well; when I took a closer look at it several days later, I discovered that the tech evidently didn't clean the silicone off his fingers, and I now have his indelible fingerprints in a couple places on the top edge of the sink. read more

After cycling through various plumbers around town, where we were left uniimpressed, we have been using Cal's Plumbing for our work now for several years. They have replaced parts on a toilet which was tricky, replaced shower valves, and worked on our tankless water heaters. Sometimes things happen, and Cal's recently stood by their work and replaced for us at no cost a circulation pump. They have always been great about fitting us in their schedule. This business rocks! But more so, I give credit especially to Josh Phillips. He came within the quoted time, texted & called that he arrived and went immediately to work. He was extremely considerate and diligent. Our drain was clogged for over a day, and he made sure that everything was checked out... from our garbage disposal to the dishwasher drainage. But what's best of all is he fixed it. And to top it all off, it was a holiday weekend. I say considerate, because he made sure he placed a towel under the sink and on the floor to keep the place as clean as possible. He wet vacuumed the mess and made sure things were placed back under the sink. What a relief from all the stress that it caused. He fixed it! Not a good start for Cal's Plumbing. Called for a bid to put in a Rinnai Tankless water heater and set up an appointment for 1-30-2023. They didn't give me a time so I set the day aside just for them. They sent me a text to confirm the appointment and I confirmed the date. When the date came around and the time was about 10 am I was wondering what time they would come. Well, I called their number and was told that "Dispatch" was full for the day and that they wanted to reschedule to the next Thursday Feb. 2. One day wasted and thinking maybe they prefer to work in the Tucson area and not so much in Green Valley. I understand that gas prices are UP and I can't blame them for saving money. Called for a toilet that was clogged at the business where I work. The plumber was very resourceful and polite, showed up right on time. The pricing, however, was way overboard. There was no big project done. Just a toilet removed to pull out a wet wipe, toilet put back in place. 20 minutes of work for $400. He gave me a quote to replace the toilet for over $1000. I know I won't be calling them. I know that replacing a toilet is not rocket science. I have called other companies for service of different types, and the pricing is just way too much compared to other companies that deliver fine prompt work within a reasonable price range. read more

It has been a while. My husband was unable to fix a leak in our bathroom. He had surgery on his leg because it had been broken. The bathroom water was turned off. I have no complaint about the work or how I was treated. I was completely shocked when he gave me the bill. The part was a small amount, the total was $517.00 and some change. Highly recommend Cal's Plumbing. These guys are A+++. Highly professional, knowledgeable/skilled, hard-working, and just good people to work with. I hired Cal's Plumbing to add a water softener and to replace all of the faucets and toilets in my 25+ year old home in Tucson. My house never had a water softener, and did not have the required water softener "loop" pre-installed. Also, all of the faucets in the house had a significant buildup of mineral deposits, and some of them didn't work any longer. Also - the toilets in the house were builder-grade low-flow toilets designed 25+ years ago that didn't work well. When I called Cal's, they offered to send someone out to my house to scope out the job and provide me with written estimates. A couple of days later, Stephen Rawlins arrived and checked out what work needed to be done. I asked him to give me a multi-phase estimate in which I could have the work done in phases. I did not have the various faucets or toilets yet, plus wanted to stretch out the payments to make the upgrades easier to afford. Stephen spent about an hour inspecting the bathroom fixtures, kitchen plumbing, and figuring out what would be necessary to install a softener loop and softener in my garage. He provided me with estimates allowing me to have the job done (and to pay) in 3 phases, as work was completed. Best of all, Stephen ** EXPLAINED ** in detail everything that needed to be done, the level of difficulty of various parts of the job, and also ** EXPLAINED ** how everything would look and work when completed. In particular, Stephen discussed the various options for water softeners, and suggested several brands / systems I could research on my own to consider. He also recounted different systems that he personally had experience with and suggested I choose the one I considered best for me after researching, and that they would pick it up and charge me whatever Home Depot, Lowe's etc. would charge. It was clear to me that this is a person who knew what he was doing, was 100% believable, and because of this confidence from speaking with Stephen, I made the decision to get started. Stephen and his colleague James Harris did a phenomenal job. They worked from 8AM to almost 10PM to get the work done by the deadline they said they'd meet on the first phase. Stephen returned to complete additional work on a second day, and I am looking forward to them completing everything once all of the parts / fixtures are in. Bottom line is that everything works PERFECTLY, looks great, and they did a great job cleaning up after they completed each part of the job. I really cannot recommend these guys enough. I've used them twice. I don't care for the receptionists, who repeatedly use the word "perfect" and are just really condescending. The work has been fine (both issues were minor repairs). Technicians are polite and worked quickly. My issue is that they really try to upsell you, which I'm NOT into. Also I don't need three phone calls to tell me the technician is on the way and another one after the work is done asking me about my "service issues". Maybe other plumbers are like this. Disappointed is an understatement. This is a summary of our personal experience with Cal's Plumbing. We had hoped we had found our "go to" plumbing company. Based upon the many 5-star reviews we found, we expected much more than this. Our tub faucet was broken, would spin all the way around, and needed repaired. We contacted our Home Warranty company and was prepared to use their services, which would have only cost us $75 and they would have paid the rest. We weren't too thrilled with the reviews received by the plumbing company the warranty company was planning to send to us. So, we researched and decided to go it alone. Based on the many 5-star reviews we contacted Cal's Plumbing. We were advised prior to scheduling the service that there is a $79 fee just to come out, which is typical of most service providers. However, if we had them perform any work, the $79 would be applied towards the work. We scheduled the appointment and the soonest they could come was a week later. My wife was home when the tech arrived. He found the problem, had the part needed, and finished the job. All total he was at the house less than an hour and spent most of his time trying to find where the water shut-off was located. The actual repair was less than 10 minutes. We were charged $262 for this service. My wife paid the tech because what is she supposed to do? It seemed like a lot of money, but what do we know. Upon further reflection, we decided to do a little research. The part that the tech replaced was a plastic piece called a bathroom faucet cartridge replacement. A quick search online and discussion with any hardware or plumbing store reveals this part can be purchased for as little as $9.99 or even as expensive as $34. Hmm? Seems like we were charged about $225 for labor and that's assuming they will tell us the part they used was at the high end of cost. I must be in the wrong profession because $225 for less than an hour of work (more like 10 minutes of actual work) is a great wage! Surely this is a mistake. We contacted Cal's Plumbing and were told that they charge by the job and give no regard to the cost of the part or how long they are actually on the job working. We were basically told tough, this is the charge, nothing they can or will do. Even after bringing our concerns to them, nothing. Their website says they are honest, trustworthy, and have integrity. We did not experience this. Not sure how they got all those 5-star reviews. We were happy with the tech and the scheduling process, but the charges are outrageous. $262 for less than an hour on site, 10 minutes of work, and at most a $35 part. Buyer be warned. If you want to be overcharged, then Cal's is your plumber. Otherwise, I suggest seeking someone else. read more

Before calling Cal's, we dealt with two other plumbing companies that gave differing explanations as to our plumbing problem. We requested a video cam inspection from Cal's to determine the plumbing problem and why our two toilets with a shared wall between them backed up at the same time. The plumber showed my husband and I a view of the camera showing the obstruction, and I took a picture, but the company has failed to provide us with a working video copy which our invoice states was provided. We paid $399. The video file "copy" was emailed and we were unable to open the file using several apps on our laptop. We then drove across town with a USB drive to have them load a copy for us. Still unable to view/open the file. File copy provided both times lacked the dot (.) and file extension identifier. They also failed to return our insurance company's call inquiring about the location of the obstruction. They needed more detail for the estimate. For the repair of the obstruction alone, it was over $11,000. Not included the recommended additional work. Seems that if they were willing to stand by their estimate, they would be willing to provide information that would actually lead to a sale/repair job. read more

The good: They do good work, let me get that out of the way early on. You pay for the good work, but that is to be expected. The work: They replaced my main line to the street, installed a water heater, and moved a gas line for my stove. It took several days all together. Nick was personable, hard-working, and cared about the finished product. The bad: While installing a new line, they ran the line directly into the house and skipped over the front-yard faucets. I brought that up, but they said that they could come out and run that line, too, presumably for an additional fee. read more

I can't say enough good things about Cal's Plumbing! We called them in after using another company to unclog a toilet and drain that caused damage and was unreliable. Cal's the the rescue! Nick showed up not just on time, but early! And did all the work we requested, and informed us of problems we did know about, all quickly, efficiently, and professionally! He even came back a couple days later when I heard water dripping to make sure there wasn't a problem and assure me the new water filter was operating correctly. This outfit is unbelievable good! On May 8, 2019 we had a major problem with our septic system. Every toilet in the house was inoperative. I called our then plumbing company, who completely misdiagnosed the problem. The other company told me that there was no problem with the system from the house to the septic tank and that I should call my septic company to pump the tank. When the septic company pumped the tank, they concluded that it was virtually empty and simply was not getting any input from the house. In desperation, I called Cal's Plumbing late in the afternoon. They immediately sent someone out, who correctly diagnosed the issue. The line from the house to the septic had "dropped", just before the tank. They had a crew out first thing the next morning and by 11:00 AM our toilets were back in operation. read more

We had friends from out of town coming to lunch and to not have an available toilet would've been absolutely terrible. Crisis averted!
