    Several months ago I took advantage of Parker's summer special to check out my AC for $39. I'm always skeptical because these are a money loser unless they can find something to charge additional labor or parts for. The tech was diligent in checking everything, and I was surprised when he said the motor start capacitor was good (typically these are the first things to go and the easiest to convince the customer if they are bad). I knew mine was good because I recently replaced it. My concern kicked in when the tech showed me the rusted evaporator coil. He said it was bad and my entire HVAC needed to be replaced. I argued that the system was running fine. He pulled out his leak detector and said, "you're almost at 100 units, this is a bad leak and probably won't last a month." The tech then looked around (to see if anyone was listening to us) and whispered, "this is a rental right? You know, this system is pushing potentially contaminated air into your house and your tenants are breathing this." What the tech didn't know, is that I am familiar with refrigerant leak detectors, as well as HVAC systems. 100 ppm is not alarming in the least. No concerns whatsoever. Additionally, the galvanized end caps are rusting, NOT the copper tubing which contains the refrigerant. The system is running just fine, so far. Yes, it could fail, but not as immediately as what I was led to believe. I entertained the tech's request to have an estimator stop by. One just happened to be "conveniently in the area." It was over 30 minutes before the estimator arrived, so they were obviously not in the area, but it is what it is. The estimator came back with three options; $25k, $22k, and $19k. I asked how quick the turnaround was to replace the system. I was told it could be completed within a day. With that, I told both the estimator and tech that I would wait until complete failure before replacing. Now the fun begins. Over the next several weeks I get calls, texts, and emails from the estimator and office people following up to see when I want to schedule my new HVAC system. I never responded to any of them, yet they kept on coming. Talk about high-pressure sales tactics. How many elderly, or unsuspecting people fall victim to this? Now, to sum it up, I did have my HVAC checked out for a small fee and no immediate upcharges on the spot, so I appreciate that. But, maybe, it was because a larger fish was yet to be caught. Who knows. I'll stick to the smaller, independent HVAC contractors who are just trying to put food on their family's table.

    The water connection from my house to the street decided to break and leak just before the Jul 4 holiday. Fortunately, Anthony from Parker & Sons arrived to the rescue. He did a great job explaining the reasons for the break, his repair solutions and the costs for the job. He replaced old, corroded, cheap components and tidied the area after he was done, all while being diligent and meticulous. What a relief to have the water back on in my house while the sun was still out! Thank goodness Parker & Sons was available to help in this emergency! Highly recommend.

    My experience with Parker & Sons in Tucson was extremely disappointing and frankly alarming. They were hired for an above the roof electrical conduit installation. For just about $3000, the quality of the work was unacceptable. The conduit penetration flashing on the roof they installed was the worst I've ever seen, amateurish, and obviously rushed (attached photos). Also, some of the cover plates on the conduit pull-elbows were even left loose. It's hard to believe this passed any kind of visual inspection by the technician. A neighbor had initially pointed out how bad of a job it was because they were able to see it from their house. Even worse, the hot AC wire inside the circuit breaker panel was visibly stripped and torn as it was pulled into the conduit. I had to temporarily wrap it in electrical tape myself to prevent any kind of short or arcing. This isn't just shoddy workmanship, it's a serious safety hazard that shows a complete lack of attention to detail or care for electrical/fire safety. On top of all that, the crew left trash and bits scattered around the property and even up on the roof. Discarded materials, bits of wire, tape, and other debris were simply left behind for me to deal with. I called Parker & Sons again to have someone look at the work (under warranty). They had a different technician come out to look at it again. The new technician agreed with my concerns and assured me they'd do everything they could to fix the conduit flashing on the roof and repair or replace the damaged wires, and they would notify a supervisor. I haven't heard back in two weeks now... The overall craftsmanship was far below acceptable standards and customer service is sub-par. Again, for close to $3000, I expected professional work from a company with their reputation, but what I got was careless, messy, and potentially dangerous. I absolutely would not recommend Parker & Sons to anyone for electrical related services.

    Exhaust fan was fixed and new switch installed the next day. We signed on to their customer saving plan which helped to save a lot of money.

Samson found the cause, finding some minor deterioration in the windings of the motor (loss of insulation) but explained we did not need to do anything, and motor could last 2 or more years with the smart suggestion, given motor cost, to wait until it didn't work. Competency, honesty with knowledgeable technicians is a hard to beat combination. I can recommend them without reservation.

The air flow from the registers read 80. I had a very positive experience with Todd from Rincon. When I showed him the figures, he speculated my AC was low on refrigerant. He gave me a price estimate assuming refrigerant had to be added to the AC unit. After checking pressure readings on my AC unit, he added two pounds of refrigerant to the AC unit and the air flow temperature started coming down. He then checked for possible leaks and found one which he was able to repair. During the time he was working, Todd answered my questions which helped me better understand what to expect regarding my AC unit. I am delighted to report that the inside temperature eventually dropped down to the thermostat setting and the air flow coming from the registers was 20 degrees cooler than the inside temperature. Todd indicated that is what I should expect. The next day everything is working as expected. The Inside temperature matches the thermostat setting and the air flow from the registers is 20 degrees cooler than the inside temperature. Todd was easy to communicate. He was able to repair the leak and didn't charge me for it, which I appreciated. I will be requesting him for any future servicing my AC might need.

The tech on the other line seemed confused as to why I was calling and asked if I "tried the office"...I said I did and "I got you"...his response: "I am the 24 on duty tech"...I must say, kudos to them for getting such a high yelp review! It is obvious I was "taken for a ride" by their website and they are not as big as I thought--their quality is probably going to suffer over the summer...In the end, highly recommend going someplace more established. I called them to service an AC unit that was blowing but not producing cold air. My technician, Andrew, called to let me know he was running early, again a pleasant surprise! He had my AC unit up and running in less than an hour. He explained exactly what had happened, a bad breaker apparently, and fixed it in a jiffy. Rates were very reasonable: $99 charge for breakdown service plus a very reasonable cost for a breaker repair. I will DEFINITELY call Platinum again if my AC goes out.

Juan came out and…read moreassessed the room in my garage's needs and picked the right sized mini-split for the room. He gave me several different options as for the SEER ratings and brands. He was very professional and patient answering all of my questions. They were able to install it on the day I preferred. Conrado, Diego and Juan showed up that morning and Juan took his time explaining the install to Conrado and Diego. I had requested that they didn't run the electrical lines on the outside of my house so they ran them up into the attic. My install was a bit abnormal in that the run for the refrigerant line was longer than the standard 15' so Juan came back the very next morning to finish installing more refrigerant into the system and get it fully up and running. Juan also spent a few hours adjusting the insulation above the room in the garage and took photos so I could see his good work. These guys didn't cut any corners. They were professional from start to finish. Their website is top-notch along with their vehicle wraps on their vans. They are doing a great job in this industry and it is nice to know I have them in my corner!
