We had a shower go out in a guest bathroom on a Saturday and Picture Rocks Cooling, Heating & Plumbing, was recommended on a Tucson community page on Facebook. We contacted them and they were prompt to send a service tech out to look over the issue. After the assessment, replacing the shower body (valve and cartridge) was necessary. Plus having to cut into either the tile and/or the drywall to get to the pipes, would be an additional cost with their contractor between $200-400. Because we thought we could replace the shower/tub set fixtures and cartridge ourselves, we bought the entire kit at Home Depot for the fraction of the cost they wanted to charge us for the set. Picture Rocks told us they would start the repair that morning and would have to come back that following Monday to complete the repair. Their estimated price was $1650 without the contractor's price. However, they were giving us credit for the set we purchased but they couldn't warranty it only their labor which was understandable. I called a family member who is a licensed HVAC and Plumbing company owner in Phoenix. To make sure we were getting a fair cost, he told us they were charging us way too much to replace and install the entire shower body. His company charges for that type of installation up to $800 with no issues. He was taken back by the estimate and told us to find another company. Needless to say, we found a fair, licensed and knowledgeable Plumber here on Yelp. We waited on his estimate and to our surprise, his price was significantly lower and in the same range of what our family member stated. Minus the dry wall repair, which we can do ourselves due to being a small square cut out and the price was fair. Therefore, due diligence is necessary in getting a fair price, even on a holiday weekend (Easter). Don't go with the first recommendation, in a long run, this will save you money. read more

Once they finally sent the 3rd invoice, I decided to get a second opinion. In order to get a second quote, we called these guys to inspect my recently passed, father-in-law's heating and air conditioning unit as part of the sale of his house. These guys quoted $4700 to fix an air conditioner that was not broken. We called the company all ArcticAir to come out and inspect the air conditioner that they installed only three years ago, and he showed me how everything was still working perfectly. I needed refrigerant for my two carrier air conditioners. Picture Rock Cooling, Heating, and Air Conditioning came out to service them. They said each pound of refrigerant is $149. I asked them if that was a high price compared to other companies. They said they were in the middle, that there was five or so higher and five or so lower. I needed 10 pounds which cost me $1490 today I called another company because I still have a leak in my system and down the road. I'll need more refrigerant and they said refrigerant is $65 a pound I don't think that $149 is middle of the road if this company is doing it for $65. They also said new air conditioners run from around $14-$24,000 solutions that I talk to today said it'll be about $10,500 for a new unit. I suggest you look elsewhere for service, if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg to get your air conditioner fixed. read more

I had two other companies come out twice and they could not explain in detail, as the Picture Rocks technician could and did not have the equipment to fix the plumbing issue. My air/heat pump unit was installed by PRPH five years ago. I have had nothing but trouble with it constantly needing more coolant, each time this costing me several hundreds of dollars. I had PRPH come look at it the first few time then was not confident with the tech or company when the unit kept breaking down. Others companies weren't any better. Finally I called Goettl and they were able to diagnose the problem ( dye doesn't lie) and it sure didn't. Morgan from Picture Rocks Cooling Heating And Plumbing got a cat out of the ductwork under my house this evening! And he also found the other cat that was hiding behind the drier. We thought both cats were in the ductwork (I had just adopted these cats; I had no idea they knew how to remove vent covers and would descend down into the ductwork!!) and since we at first only retrieved the one, I was stressing about where the other one was. He was kind enough to check and doublecheck and triple check, with the cameras, to figure out the configuration of our ductwork (which was a bit unusual I guess) and make sure that the second cat was not in there. He also crawled around under the house to check to see that the cat hadn't somehow gotten out of the ductwork and into the crawlspace. To get the first cat, he had to disconnect the ductwork while under the house and reach up in there to grab the cat, and he had to take apart a portion of the heater inside the house. Throughout the task, this guy was confident, competent and careful and I sensed he really cared about the cats. The company truck says "Integrity and Honesty" and I agree. Nowadays some folks just do their jobs and we are thankful if they manage to do it correctly, but then sometimes if you are lucky you get surprised by someone like Morgan who does his job and goes above and beyond. : ) I'm Very pleased and will definitely come back to Picture Rocks Cooling, Heating And Plumbing when I need help again, and recommend them to others. read more

We had PR install our HVAC system about two and a half years ago. They were super helpful, answered all of our questions, followed up with maintenance visits, all was good until a month ago. Following a strange haze coming up thru our floor vents, the smoke alarms went off and then the AC died. We called PR and were told it would be five days before a tech could come out. Five days? It was basically, we're booked, so take it or leave it. When we asked for a suggestion for another HVAC company, the response was go ahead. We did call another HVAC company, they got us in same day, didn't matter that we weren't their customer, they got us in and the tech was outstanding. We've since reached out to PR via chat (online) and emails asking for someone to contact us, and so far, we've received nothing. To say that we're disappointed is an understatement. Based on the recent lack of interest or concern, I can't say that we would recommend them. read more

I had Picture Rocks Cooling and Heating come out to check out our AC unit. It was running almost full time and barely able to keep the house cool. They said the unit was on its last leg and needs to be replaced. They said the unit was a poor design and very undependable and will fail soon. We ran a couple more days before I called another company in town. They came out within 3 hours and inspected the unit. It was dangerously low on refrigerant and it would have NOT lasted another week if we kept running it- in other words we would have burned it up if we listened to Picture Rocks. The reputable company I called serviced it, cleaned the coils, gave me lots of tips to keep it running at peak performance. It's worked flawless since and easily gets the house into the high 70's. I am very disappointed in Picture Rocks Cooling and heating. I feel they are either unskilled or deceptive. I will never use them again! read more

They did not have an explanation why they forgot the appointment and only asked if they could reschedule. Very disappointing. I had a complete indoor/outdoor unit replaced on 4/1/16 in a rental home I own. Picture Rocks was very quick to install the unit and take my money. The home had current tenants that were scheduled to move out in July of 2016. When the tenants moved out I finally got a good look at the unit in August. I went to change the filter and soon realized there was no filter or filter mounting bracket. I checked indoors at the return and once again the same. I called the office and was told that their tech had been stopping by the rental house every couple of weeks and no one answered the door. So the filter mounting kit was never addressed.. I asked why no one had called me, being the homeowner and the person who paid for the unit. This is still unresolved. I called this morning and have yet to hear anything back. So basically Picture Rocks was fine with leaving a new unit installed without a filter or a way to install one. Thanks Guys. read more
