Air conditioning wasn't working. I called a local "reputable" HVAC company (who shall remain unnamed) to come take a look. They told me two motors were shot, and I was looking at $3K-$4K to replace. Probably wasn't worth repairing since my system was older. Didn't sit right, so I called Samson & Sons. I've used various companies to ensure that my rooftop A/C was ready for our dreadful summers and have never used one of them twice for the job. My unit is approximately 18 years old, but still works, and I was told last year that it would probably be the last summer that I would get from it, so I've been hesitant to have someone come out because I didn't want to hear "the bad news." Anyway, I researched and read reviews for various companies and decided to give "Samson and Sons Heating & Cooling" a try. I'm glad that I did! I didn't receive any "bad news," what a relief, and Richard was the tech, who was amazing! He did an interior walk-through & checked the cool air coming out of the vents in my livingroom, which were good, and explained the results. Then he headed up to the roof to look at my unit. When he came down, he let me know he was going to clean it, WHAT???? I've NEVER had that done before, and then he'd go over the pictures he took and what, if anything, was going on. He went back up with a hose and gave it a thorough cleaning. I was so impressed! I realize this is an extremely long review, but I was so impressed with Richard and the quality of work and his professionalism, that I needed to express it! The good news is I'm getting another summer out of my A/C, and maybe even a few more, but thankfully, there are parts available if needed. There were no problems found. She's good to go!! The only downside, and just slightly, is they're more expensive than other companies I've used, but, you know, the saying, "you get what you pay for," and I'm happy to pay the extra expense for the extra years my A/C continues working. These guys are excellent! 2 other AC firms were pushing to replace my 15 yr old AC unit. Jose from Samson recommended adding refrigerant and sealant which got the job done. He explained everything in great deal as he was servicing my AC unit. Cummings is the self-proclaimed #1 in Tucson, but they pushed hard for a new unit. Cummings did offer a recharge for $3,300+ which was over 300% higher than Samson's price. I'll be signing up for Samson's annual maintenance plan before winter season which seems like a great deal as well. I highly recommend Samson for your AC service. read more

My AC stopped blowing cold air just before the hottest part of summer! I called Samson and Sons on a Monday and was able to get an appointment for Tuesday evening. Tuesday came and went and the technician didn't show up. I called Wednesday morning and the company rep apologized and the technician was out a short time later. It was the same tech that was originally scheduled to come out the day before. He was very apologetic and fixed my AC quickly and only charged me for the part itself. I first used Samson and Sons many years ago when the air conditioner stopped working in the middle of summer. They were the only company that didn't make me wait a week. The problem was diagnosed and fixed. I have used them ever since. There has never been an attempt to upsell. If something can be fixed, they very capably do that. When I wanted a mini-split in one room, it was properly sized. I love it! Most recently, I had my house reroofed and the roofer bent the condensate drip line, which burned out the condensate pump. Dylan quickly knew the problem was with the pump. Then he wanted to make sure it was draining properly. That was when he discovered the line had been bent. I was told by 2 of the big size HVAC companies in town that my compressor was not working and too old to replace including the whole unit was too old to find parts. I then set up meetings with both to discuss quotes for a complete new unit. After those meetings, my neighbor suggested I reach out to Samson And Sons. I did thinking I may get a better quote for replacing my unit. Dylan, the technician, came out and I explained the issue and asked about a quote for a new unit as I knew the size I needed. Dylan asked if he could look at my old unit before we discuss a new one. "Maybe I can fix it". In no less than 10 minutes, Dylan told me it was the contact switch to the compressor and not the compressor and, he had the part with him. Our AC went out on a Friday Night with friends staying at our place while we were out of town visiting family. Our home warranty company confirmed that the system was DOA by 10:30 on Saturday morning. I called Samson and Sons at 10:45, and got a call back in less than 90 minutes from Alex, who was able to provide a quote for a new system based on a Google Maps photo. He was knowlegdable, understanding and prompt. (Worth noting that the Samson quote was considerably more reasonable than other quotes I got for similar systems). He arranged to have a portable unit dropped off until they could get out to look at the situation first thing Monday. The new unit was in place by the end of the week, and every single interaction I had with the company was first-rate. We even got photos of the finished work when all was said and done. The entire interaction was handled via phone call and text messages -- all while we were out of town. That's not easy to do, but Samson and Sons when above and beyond. The business sent someone to look at a problem I was having. They couldn't find a problem with what was happening, but pointed out a lot of problems with how my unit was setup. I called the company that installed it and let them know what was found. Turns out there was a problem but not everything that was mentioned was wrong. So it's hard to trust anyone nowadays that's in trade work. Update: changed to 5 stars. Owner called and wanted to make sure that I knew what was found and that they'd offer any services to get the issues fixed. That is dedication to service. I had an ac outage on eve of 4th of July and made a desperate attempt to call around, pretty much leaving messages. An hour later I got a call back saying Dylan would be out between 9 and 11 am got a call at 10 from Dylan saying he would be about 20 minutes. 18 minutes later he showed up and was done diagnosing and repairing (was a capacitor), and accepted my payment by 10:44. Wow, not what I expected over a holiday weekend. Efficient, extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Just amazing in this day and age to get this kind of friendly, competent service. Seems like these guys don't need my review, but I will give it anyway! They helped us with financing when we couldn't really afford to buy a system flat out. But we paid it off quickly. Our home had a swamp cooler and a furnace; it costs us a fortune to heat our home in the winter, and our home never got very cool in the summer. We would get massive energy bills in the winter (we're talking $600ish dollars). We got a great deal from Samson and Sons, with financing. The financing company had some pretty bad reviews, but we really didn't have any issues with them. We also paid off our balance within a year. With our balance paid off, we needed a checkup. Most companies stop caring about you once you've paid (they got your money, why do they care?). But Samson and Sons came out the day we called for some simple maintenance (literally about an hour wait, on short notice). They fixed the issue, and haven't had an issue since! We've had the system for about 5 years now, and any time we call them (for routine checkups), they schedule us for a checkup without hesitation. Always friendly, and always willing to make any problems right. The techs have been extremely friendly and happy to help. read more

For anyone wondering if all these great reviews are real (like I kind of wondered!) let me say this one is real, and I suspect all the others are too. We have been in our house for 2 years in Marana and the A/C is original to the house, so 40 years old. It has never worked that well. We had at least 4 different A/C companies come out sent by our home warranty company. Each one had a different idea, and each idea failed after 2 weeks or so. We finally went out on our own and found Samson and Sons on Yelp and are so glad we did. Jose came out and diagnosed the problem within minutes and we set up an appointment for the following week. Jose and Kyle showed up right on time, texted to say they were on their way, and were in and out in about 2 hours, as they'd estimated. The cost was fair and came with a follow up visit in a few months, and a 1-year warranty. We've gone from being miserable in our hot home to being cool and comfortable. Had them replace 2 A/C units in August 2022. They were here from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with 5-6 men working on removing the old units and installing the new ones. They were courteous, efficient, and took the time at the end of a very long day to explain the new units. Just had the winter tune-up service for the units with Dylan.
