I had 4 companies investigated a random, occasional shut down of my central AC. Only Samson figured the cause while others tried freon that didn't work and wanted to replace parts for $1100 to see if they might be the cause. Samson found the cause, finding some minor deterioration in the windings of the motor (loss of insulation) but explained we did not need to do anything, and motor could last 2 or more years with the smart suggestion, given motor cost, to wait until it didn't work. Competency, honesty with knowledgeable technicians is a hard to beat combination. I can recommend them without reservation. read more

This is my number one Choice to keep my Carrier Ac roof unit up to Par. Unit installed with the house in 1979. That's a long life. I do my paid Annual tune up with Sampson. Today i have Dylan again and an assistant. They would change my ac house filter at no charge if i have the replacement. But i do it myself every 100 days . ....so its also due this week. ...I get them online now. This is a great Vendor. update later AM. : i needed two areas resealed that might weep or are weeping. And a exposed to the sun/weather insulated wire that finally is cracked and would let in water (rain). So, they offered me a choice i could do it with advice and pictures or let them go back up and finish the three items. So the new house policy is less ladder work for me , so simple decision. I called Samson on Monday morning when my A/C began blowing warm air. They had an appointment available at 7 am the next morning. Technician Christian came promptly within the appointment window. He went to our outside unit, diagnosed the problem (blown capacitor) immediately, and replaced it. He also checked all of the other components. He is extremely knowledgeable, and Samson's fee was highly reasonable. I highly recommend them. read more

Long and detailed, so TL;DR - Use these guys! Our Carrier 4-ton A/C went out one evening recently here in southern Arizona. Not a good thing when temps on the horizon are projected to be at 100 degrees or more. I did some self-diagnosis and changed the fuses in the outdoor disconnect box, replaced the capacitor with an Amrad (US-made, high quality), and installed a new contactor - all the common failure items. No luck. I'm wise enough to know that going up in the attic was a no-go at my age, so decided it would need the services of a pro, and did I ever get one! I had previously read a glowing report on social media about an HVAC company here in the area, so after reading their Yelp reviews, I gave them a call. Kyle from Samson & Sons Heating & Cooling came out the following morning, and before beginning, we discussed (and he really listened to) the steps I had previously taken, which helped him to decide where to start, and that was the air handler in the attic. In less than five minutes he had discovered the burnt remains of electric power wires at a burnt wire nut. Thank goodness it was all contained inside a small metal connection box, where charcoal SHOULDN'T be!. Since Kyle has previously worked as a journeyman electrician, he knows how to properly make connections using wire nuts (think twist wires together first), so that problem is highly unlikely to reoccur. This HVAC failure is complements of the original DH Horton HVAC sub-contractor, which I won't mention in text. Kyle told me he knew who the installing contractor was before I told him, as he had already noticed the ALUMINUM refrigerant lines crossing the attic. I believe they're supposed to be copper, but you KNOW which is cheaper! Kyle pointed out the electrical tape wrapped around the ferruled tubing connector, supposedly to keep air from oxidizing the aluminum tubing, which (after a long time) eventually creates a refrigerant leak (think dis-similar metals). In time, everyone in our development will likely have a problem with this. And so, we again have cool air inside, accomplished at a reasonable cost. These guys KNOW THEIR STUFF, and the science behind providing a quality job! Please, Mark, remain an independent, and don't sell out to "private equity" in my lifetime! Very nice, friendly, and the part that they fixed took almost 6 hours, we think the price was fair, we did get another quote that was way more than they charged us, so we felt they were giving us a fair price. I've used various companies to ensure that my rooftop A/C was ready for our dreadful summers and have never used one of them twice for the job. My unit is approximately 18 years old, but still works, and I was told last year that it would probably be the last summer that I would get from it, so I've been hesitant to have someone come out because I didn't want to hear "the bad news." Anyway, I researched and read reviews for various companies and decided to give "Samson and Sons Heating & Cooling" a try. I'm glad that I did! I didn't receive any "bad news," what a relief, and Richard was the tech, who was amazing! He did an interior walk-through & checked the cool air coming out of the vents in my livingroom, which were good, and explained the results. Then he headed up to the roof to look at my unit. When he came down, he let me know he was going to clean it, WHAT???? I've NEVER had that done before, and then he'd go over the pictures he took and what, if anything, was going on. He went back up with a hose and gave it a thorough cleaning. I was so impressed! I realize this is an extremely long review, but I was so impressed with Richard and the quality of work and his professionalism, that I needed to express it! The good news is I'm getting another summer out of my A/C, and maybe even a few more, but thankfully, there are parts available if needed. There were no problems found. She's good to go!! The only downside, and just slightly, is they're more expensive than other companies I've used, but, you know, the saying, "you get what you pay for," and I'm happy to pay the extra expense for the extra years my A/C continues working. My AC stopped blowing cold air just before the hottest part of summer! I called Samson and Sons on a Monday and was able to get an appointment for Tuesday evening. Tuesday came and went and the technician didn't show up. I called Wednesday morning and the company rep apologized and the technician was out a short time later. It was the same tech that was originally scheduled to come out the day before. He was very apologetic and fixed my AC quickly and only charged me for the part itself. These guys are excellent! 2 other AC firms were pushing to replace my 15 yr old AC unit. Jose from Samson recommended adding refrigerant and sealant which got the job done. He explained everything in great deal as he was servicing my AC unit. Cummings is the self-proclaimed #1 in Tucson, but they pushed hard for a new unit. Cummings did offer a recharge for $3,300+ which was over 300% higher than Samson's price. I'll be signing up for Samson's annual maintenance plan before winter season which seems like a great deal as well. I highly recommend Samson for your AC service. read more

He asked me to turn on and off the system and told me right away what the problem was and said he had the part he needed on his truck. Our AC went out on a Friday Night with friends staying at our place while we were out of town visiting family. Our home warranty company confirmed that the system was DOA by 10:30 on Saturday morning. I called Samson and Sons at 10:45, and got a call back in less than 90 minutes from Alex, who was able to provide a quote for a new system based on a Google Maps photo. He was knowlegdable, understanding and prompt. (Worth noting that the Samson quote was considerably more reasonable than other quotes I got for similar systems). He arranged to have a portable unit dropped off until they could get out to look at the situation first thing Monday. The new unit was in place by the end of the week, and every single interaction I had with the company was first-rate. We even got photos of the finished work when all was said and done. The entire interaction was handled via phone call and text messages -- all while we were out of town. That's not easy to do, but Samson and Sons when above and beyond. The business sent someone to look at a problem I was having. They couldn't find a problem with what was happening, but pointed out a lot of problems with how my unit was setup. I called the company that installed it and let them know what was found. Turns out there was a problem but not everything that was mentioned was wrong. So it's hard to trust anyone nowadays that's in trade work. Update: changed to 5 stars. Owner called and wanted to make sure that I knew what was found and that they'd offer any services to get the issues fixed. That is dedication to service. I first used Samson and Sons many years ago when the air conditioner stopped working in the middle of summer. They were the only company that didn't make me wait a week. The problem was diagnosed and fixed. I have used them ever since. There has never been an attempt to upsell. If something can be fixed, they very capably do that. When I wanted a mini-split in one room, it was properly sized. I love it! Most recently, I had my house reroofed and the roofer bent the condensate drip line, which burned out the condensate pump. Dylan quickly knew the problem was with the pump. Then he wanted to make sure it was draining properly. That was when he discovered the line had been bent.
