Our air conditioning unit wasn't dead, but it was in the process of dying. We called Russett, who has handled our HVAC needs for decades. We found out Russett sold to Rite Way as of the next day, so we would be dealing with a company we knew nothing about. First, RW was immediately responsive and scheduled an installation project manager to come out the next day. Dominick Stephens arrived as scheduled and discussed options, features, and prices. He was personable and knowledgeable, and made an excellent impression. We made the decision and RW was able to schedule the installation of our new unit the following day. Is that efficient or what!?! The two installers, Arthur Mejias and Henry Arroyo, showed up at 8:00am as promised. They explained the plan and we were thrilled to hear that they had A-frame ladders to go over the wall so they wouldn't have to keep traipsing through our house. That also solved our kitty problem: Oliver has never been an outside cat, but he thinks he would like to go out. So we didn't have to worry about him escaping. Very appreciated. They really knew what they were doing and were incredibly polite. They did a very professional job, including the sheet metal work in the garage. They finished the installation around 5:00pm and then showed us how to operate our fancy new control box. If we were to rate Rite Way on a 1 to 10 scale, they earned a 10 in all categories. We recommend Rite Way and the three employees who made the project happen. read more

I witnessed extremely unsafe driving by someone in a Rite Way vehicle, license plate WHA 62N, on West Ajo Highway. The driver was weaving in and out of traffic, tailgating multiple vehicles, and flashing high beams at drivers ahead of him. He was also traveling at an excessive speed, including through a school zone. This behavior puts everyone on the road at risk and reflects poorly on the company. Rite Way needs to address this driver's conduct immediately and make clear that safety extends to how employees drive company vehicles. read more

Alejandro, who goes by Alex, with Riteway deserves a HUGE shout-out! Our water heater situation happened on a freezing cold day, (well the water felt that way), and he had our new one installed the next day. He also discovered a problem with our water pressure and went above and beyond to help get things sorted out. Then he fit us in the following day for a new water softener installation! What really stood out was how thorough and thoughtful he was. He checked all the faucets and connections, explained what he was doing, and took the time to make sure we understood everything. I know enough about this work to appreciate someone who does it well, and Alex was exemplary. Professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and kind--he made the whole experience feel like working with one of my old teammates. That level of trust and comfort means a lot. He is welcome back at our house anytime, problem or no problem! Thank you, Alex! The Flowers Household read more

I've spent about $30k with Riteway in the past 3 years. Based on my experiences with their services (HVAC replacement, split install, water heater estimate), I can't recommend them, especially considering the premium price tag. Here's a short list of issues we've had: 1 - Mini split makes loud ticking noise (Riteway has been unable to fix this; see video) 2 - Closet door left with gaps and won't open/close without force 3 - Sloppy ductwork has been ineffective 4 - Riteway (accidentally) broke our water heater, took no responsibility, and quoted $4,600 for a new one 5 - Work not completed for months; no proactive followups unless I call/email persistently Hiring this company is certainly the expensive way, but I'm not convinced it's the right way. read more

Very over priced, stay away from this company. Charged a 500% mark up for a thermostat. That's outrageous.

After attempting to have the owner reach out to me through email (I honestly did not expect him to), I now write this. In a national newspaper article I just read about how VC & PE (Venture Capital & Private Equity) are buying, either a stake in or just plain outright, companies across many trades I got curious and did a search of RW. They are a part of Redwood (PE) and Redwood is a part of Atlas Partners (Canadian firm). Why are the prices steep and why there are attempts to upsell? Perhaps commissions are a piece of it. Take a moment to learn about PE & VC firms and what their business model is focused on. BTW, Richard- still waiting for you to email me. read more

I had an AC unit installed by rite way a few years ago. I was very satisfied. Recently I called for the $88 special to have my plumbing checked and the kitchen area snaked. I had written a positive review for Daniel Ramos. I mentioned as an aside that my toilet was running a little bit. He said I needed new parts. He showed me a place to sign. No mention that this was for two $200 parts. Daniel was very charming, so I trusted him and signed. I really do not remember seeing a price listed. I would've said NO WAY. After he was gone, I tried to flush the toilet it would not flush properly. Then I tried the garbage disposal, which he had checked. The motor hummed and stopped. I reset the button. It popped out. I used an Allen wrench to unplug the drain. I should not have to be doing this myself. I then revised my original review to one star. The next morning, someone named Craig I believe called me and asked about my one star review. He obviously was not trained to deal with angry customers. It turns out they record your conversation. I guess they need a record of the transaction I assume in case they get sued. They offered a repair visit, which was very frustrating handled. They offered me $100 off if I removed my negative review which I accepted. Then I decided to read their reviews which I should've done in the first place. I am old and single. Many of the one star reviews talked about how older single women are upsold items, sometimes $12,000, one was about $42,000. Daniel did try to upsell me a water heater for $7000. I objected then it was $4000. I must say the employees were all very nice. I then checked the Better Business Bureau reviews. Many many one star reviews, which had been resolved probably because they offered them some money back. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

Yesterday, I received a complimentary HVAC maintenance check-up at a home I recently purchased. I have used RiteWay in the past at my other house, which I'm selling, and decided to use them for the complimentary check rather than go with another company offering the same service. Mike Davis did a fabulous job explaining all the things he planned to do, did everything he said he would do, and didn't try to "upsell" me after the visit. One of my two HVAC units was low on refrigerant, and after discussing it with Mike, I agreed to have him add a pound of refrigerant to the system. He even offered me a slight discount for that and didn't try to upsell me on anything, though he did tell me I might want to consider a duct cleaning in the future. I have two HVAC systems with a confusing configuration of thermostats and a remote thermostat, all of which he identified and matched to the units they control. I appreciated the time he took to explain how everything worked. I was pleased with his service, his professionalism, and his courtesy. I likely will not get other "free maintenance" checks from other companies and will stick with what I know. Thanks, Mike! read more

The service person was on time and was very efficient with hus analysis of the job. Very disappointed with the lack of pricing transparency. I recently received a proposal from Rite Way for an HVAC installation and had several questions regarding how the quoted price was determined. My concern was not about the quality of their equipment or whether professional installation has value. My concern was whether the price being presented was reasonable and consistent with fair market value for the actual scope of work. I specifically requested greater transparency regarding the labor, materials, quantities, equipment, and overhead and profit included in the proposal. Instead of providing meaningful supporting details, I was repeatedly told that their internal costs, labor rates, supplier pricing, overhead, and profit margins are "proprietary" and that they only provide a lump-sum project price. I understand that a company does not have to disclose its confidential financial information. However, there is a difference between protecting proprietary business information and providing enough information for a customer to reasonably evaluate a significant purchase. What concerned me most was the explanation of the overhead and profit component. Based on the scope presented to me, this appeared to be a relatively straightforward, single-trade HVAC installation. I questioned why the stated overhead and profit percentage was appropriate for this particular project, but I was not provided with a meaningful explanation beyond the general value of their service. The issue for me is that when the quantities, labor, material pricing, and other components of a proposal cannot be independently evaluated, it becomes very difficult to determine whether the lump-sum price is actually representative of fair market value or includes substantial markups. I am not saying a contractor should work without making a profit. I am saying that a customer making a significant investment should be able to ask reasonable questions about the price without being told that the information needed to evaluate it is proprietary. Ultimately, the lack of transparency left me uncomfortable with the proposal and unwilling to move forward without being able to better understand how the price was justified. I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes and asking very specific questions about scope, quantities, labor, materials, and additional charges before committing to a large HVAC purchase. read more

We were quoted a $3,000 repair. We sought a second opinion and it turns out there is a small leak and our A/C was fixed by a $100 addition of refrigerant and quoted under $500 for a repair of the small leak. What a HUGE difference. Summer heat is no excuse for bad quotes and taking advantage of people. I would like a refund of what we paid for the assessment visit. What a terrible way to get $70 out of someone. read more

This is a revised review from my most recent experience. I now better understand the timing of these types of bigger projects, and the unfortunate timing of an HVAC breaking down during the hottest time of year got the best of me. Brandon reached out to offer more clarification and apologized for any delays. Acts of nature are hard to take into account and it was just a frustrating time for me in dealing with both pet ownership and upcoming travel. This shouldn't be taken out on the company that did what they could to ensure the repair was done quickly and I appreciate the communication from both the owner Richard and Brandon after all was said and done. I'm glad it was done the "Rite Way." read more

An easy 5 Stars! 4.5 years after purchasing and installing a state of the art Mini-Split, something went terribly wrong and although it was running and using 4x the normal energy amount - it wasn't cooling anymore. A friend recommended Rite Way and I started the process to setup an inspection - see what was what. Within the hour I had an appointment the nest day. Tech arrived, diagnosed the issue in 10 minutes and presented 3 options. Turns out I had a 4.5 year leak on the high-pressure connection on the condenser unit. Had him charge it back to full, he tightened all of the compressor connections and I opted for their Maintenance Plan. Cooled Taj-Ma-Haul from 103 down to 88 in 9 minutes! Electricity usage was back to "new" levels, 800watts peak and down to 200watts to maintain temp (72f). Gladly will recommend Rite Way to anyone I know who needs this service! Thanks Rite Way! read more

We bought two identical Trane HVAC (heating and air conditioning) systems from Rite Way Heating and AC for the Oro Valley home we'd recently purchased. The Rite Way tech who did the Spring maintenance inspections of the twin HVAC systems in the home advised that each was nearing the end of its useful life, and suggested replacing both systems. If we did, he said, Rite Way would refund the $118 we'd just paid for the two maintenance checks: $59 x 2. The Project Manager then sent out to finalize the deal reiterated the tech's promise while sitting at the dining room table: if we went with Rite Way, and within two days to keep their crews working, the $118 will be refunded. A month later, we're still waiting . . . despite multiple "reminder" emails to the Project Manager - a senior-level Rite Way staffer reporting to the company owner. The PM never bothered to respond - nothing - going silent after cashing our nice, fat check to pay for the work in-full. Delivering as promised is the real Right Way to do business; happy clients again want to work with accountable home contractors, gladly providing referrals so friends and neighbors can avoid problems with firms having histories of not delivering as promised. I like easy. Trying to recover money promised by a home contractor is not, even $118 on a nearly $25K purchase. As such, we do NOT recommend Rite Way and will NOT use this company for future HVAC or other home contracting work they provide, nor will we refer this company to friends, neighbors or others looking for an accountable service provider. I want a contractor which keeps their word, and responds to paying customers AFTER the sale and full payment. read more

My interaction with Rite Way far exceeded my expectations. First, the communication was great. I got an appoint for the day after I called. (I was expecting to have to wait a long time in summer.) I just wanted to have my AC checked because it's old and I'm trying to avoid trouble. A Rite Way rep called me in the AM to confirm the appointment. The technician also called when he was on his way, which I appreciate, since I'm disabled. He ran tests and checks on everything: the AC, the ductwork, the thermostat, and he even went up in the crawlspace to inspect the furnace. He cleaned all the components, changed filters, and showed me photos of components so I didn't have to go outside. I also got a written report. The tech's name is Rene Munoz and I would ask for him again. Thanks, Rite Way! read more

Rite Way should be rebranded Wrong Way. Every service call as a premium member is just an opportunity to up sell. My original experience with the sales person should have been a clue. They came to my house to sell me a $47K system. However, they also suggested to inspect the system to determine if it can be fixed. The technician stated that the system may need a new controller and for a mere $300 it would work. Unfortunately, the controller fried and nothing worked. My friend who shall remain nameless had to go to YouTube university to learn and troubleshoot the entire HVAC system and found the problem. Five hundred dollars in total expense my dual system 2T and 4T work flawlessly. Maybe some day I'll get a refund-never read more

$59.00 tune up special. How could I refuse! Turns out Rite-Way is using false advertisement. No tune up. Just inspection. Rite Way is the WRONG Way. Had them install a Moen pull-out kitchen faucet a couple years ago. Now we need to replace it and cannot uninstall, as they took the proprietary valve wrench with them that Moen includes in the box-- I guess that's one way to insure a repeat customer. Unfortunately, this particular model is discontinued and we are now completely screwed as a result of the installer's incompetance. Additionally, the under-sink pipe installation was poorly performed and will need to be completely pulled out and re-done, once we've got the faucet removed. This is not the first problem we have had with Rite Way -- they performed a shoddy installation on our mini-splits, which created an unnecessary leak that they came back and failed to fix a half-dozen times, although we did get charged for each service call. I had to fix it myself, which was a non-trivial endeavor. Stay away from Rite Way -- I'd suggest Cool Willy's instead, at least for your mini-splits. read more
