I've been to this park twice and I like it enough to go back again. Their playground has nice trees around it that provide cool shade. It has one large pavilion with several benches right next to the playground. I've noticed their tennis court is well kept and never busy. The parking lot is a bit far from playground, far enough that you can't see the playground from parking lot. I feel more comfortable going with someone else.

Lots of shade

There is only one thing I love this park, really., It has a lot of shade, which is VERY hard to find around here. Negatives: parking lot is far from playground (not that I mind walking) thing is that playground is very secluded. I always make sure to go accompanied, as there is only one pathway and if alone and something where to happen, no one is really around to assist. Doesn't give you a sense of security, at all. Sand. I hate sand. Sticky, dark, dirty looking sand. No restroom ( you would have to walk over to main pavilion for that). I recommend this park for sunny days, when you just NEED to get out of the house. Be sure to call a friend to come along.

Here is some info about this wonderful area - Named after the Cuban patriot and poet who devoted his life to the idea of liberating his country, Jose Marti Park is a 1.7 acre green space along the Miami River, just minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Miami. Popular with locals and visitors of all ages looking for a quick escape, the park features a public riverwalk that runs the length of its grounds with benches where you can read a book and watch boats float by. Recreational Activities Among the park's recreational features are indoor and outdoor basketball courts, an indoor gym, recreation building and picnic tables. Younger visitors can play in the park's large playground, which features a variety of structures for climbing, swinging and sliding, plus a covered play area and a grassy field for kickball and other games. There's also a learn to swim program and water aerobics classes. Yoga & Community Activities In need of a little centering after a hectic day? He was a poet, revolutionary philosopher, journalist, translator, professor, publisher, and author of "Cultivo Una Rosa Blanca" . He dedicated his life to the promotion of liberty and political independence for Cuba. His death during a battle against Spanish troops at the Battle of Dos Ríos was used to rally people to the cause of the independence of Cuba from Spain. The land the park is on has a lot of history. This area was used by the Tequesta people around 400 AD. In 1982 while developing the park, underneath I-95, an ancient Tequesta camp was discovered. Pottery shards, shell tools, arow heads, and a woman's grave were excavated. In 1959 Fidel Castro took over Cuba transforming it into a communist state. Refugees began fleeing the island for Miami. In 1980, 4,000 Cuban political refugees who fled Cuba during the Mariel boat lift took refuge in a tent city here for two months. On October 27, 1984 the park opened and was dedicated to José Martí. The park is located directly on the historic Miami River where today you can enjoy stunning views as the boats sail by. Park amenities include a public pool, playground, outdoor fitness equipment, basketball court, picnic tables, and a community center offering summer and winter camps, and youth and teen programs. The park also has a bust of José Martí donated to the city by Cuba in the 1950s. José Martí park is part of the Miami River Greenway, a 6.2 mile trail that begins at Bayfront Park and ends at NW 24th Ave. The trail links neighborhoods, businesses, cultural attractions, historic sites, and nine public parks along both banks of the Miami River.

Before most of these soccer fields and adult leagues popped up around the Miami area, South Florida Club Sport was setting up soccer leagues at the KSP field (even before it expanded and is what it is today) and let me tell you, they know how to organize sports very, VERY well. I've played in several leagues for SFCS from 2005 till now and that just shows you how awesome they are. Not only was it a great way for me to stay in shape but the best part about it was I also met and made lifelong friends through the various leagues I joined throughout the years. Additionally, I've had many interactions with the owner of the company, Steve Arsenault, and he is nothing short of professional as well as friendly. He's always open to feedback from the league members so if you ever find yourself thinking of ways to improve the league you're playing in, just reach out to him and he'll be all ears. He also tries to set up other social events and trips for the league members which is always appreciated and enjoyable. What else is there to say except that this company has consistently established solid leagues for all kinds of sports and has brought the Miami community together in a social and fun way. If you're new to Miami or a native Miamian (Broward County counts, too), make it a point to join one of their leagues. You will not regret it! Their motto to me should be, "SFCS - making adult soccer leagues cool since the early 2000s."

Terrible league. They cancel every week because of rainy fields, even when it doesn't rainread more

This is one of the most stunning places to kayak in Miami! The ecotour takes you along the shoreline of Crandon Park's Bear Cut Preserve, one of the only natural beaches left in the greater Miami area. The kayaking and pace is leisurely and the route is shallow (max 5 feet) which allows you to see the beautiful seagrass beds and sand flats. At one point we even saw a stingray glide beneath us! The tour takes you to the northern end of Key Biscayne where you get to check out a fossilized mangrove reef, a structure that formed over 6000 years ago and one of only two in the world, which was teeming with fish! After checking out the reef, we glided in to the mangroves where we could literally hear a pin drop, it was so quiet. Such a peaceful spot for a water break and to learn from our naturalists about the importance of the mangrove ecosystem not only for wildlife but for humans too. Overall, our naturalists were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and curated a great experience for us! After the 2.5 hour tour, we decided to have lunch in the courtyard of the nature center before checking out the exhibits. We learned that the nature center is run by Miami EcoAdventures and a non-profit, the Biscayne Nature Center and they also have Miami-Dade Public School teachers on-site who run field trips during the school year. They have some great displays featuring things like shells, sea beans, marine debris, sea turtles (complete with shells and skulls!), and some live exhibits including tanks with seahorses, jellyfish, and a collection of colorful reef fish. They also had an interpretive touch tank where we got to see some of the critters we saw on our tour (sea cucumbers and sea urchins) up close and learn from another knowledgeable naturalist about the special characteristics of each! From there, the naturalist gave us a trail brochure from the front desk and oriented us to one of the trails in the shaded hammock adjacent to the center where self-guided trail markers taught us about some of the unique plants and critters that call this ecosystem home. We spotted some beautiful flowering plants and watched as a woodpecker popped in and out of a dead tree. The brochure also outlined other self-guided trails, including two that form a loop into the northern portions of the Preserve that meet at an overlook where you can see the fossilized mangrove reef and mangroves from above. Overall, I highly recommend paying a visit to Miami EcoAdventures at Crandon Park, whether you're there for one of their exciting ecotours or just looking to get some insight into the unique ecosystems and wildlife while exploring Bear Cut Preserve, one of Miami's truly hidden gems!

A great community resource... if you can access it…read more The park and pool's website information has not been updated. Hours and cost information listed online are not correct. The pool is lovely and well-maintained. You can swim laps, paddle around, or take swimming lessons at different times of the day. I tried to use the pool a couple of times during the day but wasn't able to because it was either mysteriously closed or had no public access - swim lessons were being given. The changing rooms are a bit... Spartan and rustic - nothing but a few benches in a concrete box. Do not go by the hours listed online. You have to physically go to the pool and look at the noticed posted at the pool entrance. (see photo) The price online is also wrong. The fact that it is late June and the Recreation Center sill has a lit Christmas tree in the lobby lets you know that oversight and management is nearly non-existent. If they don't have the leadership to pack a Christmas tree in a box, then certainly don't expect the website to show current information.

I was worried they wouldn't take credit cards since it's such a low fee, but they do. The pool didn't feel like a typical 25 yard length, so I asked the lifeguard and he says it's a 33 meter pool. Bear in mind as you plan your workout. Pool has five or six lanes and is flanked by bleachers and some very basic changing room/shower facilities. Lap swim hours (pictured) are pretty extensive Monday through Friday. Less so Saturday and Sunday but still workable. I came in the middle of a work day and had a lane to myself.

I've now taken three weekend classes from 9:00 am - 10:30 am. It's so much fun! Classes take place at the rooftop of the Conrad which is great if you live in Brickell. Clinics consist of a warmup, hitting drills, and a variety of games that change depending on the day. Over the weekend, I've seen classes range from six to 15 people, but can't speak for the weekday evening classes. There are levels of ALL sorts, from those just starting to way advanced players. You usually break up into two groups divided by skill level about half way through. The music is bumping and Jason has all the equipment you may need!
