We did lunch there the other day and ordered 5 lunch specials of different kinds. To our surprise, all 5 dishes tasted the same whether it's pork or shrimp or chicken. Obviously they used the same sauce for all 5 dishes to save time (or money?) which is very unprofessional. We went in there with great expectation and came out with great disappointment! Even though I live around the corner I have never been in Water Moon. I have ordered delivery at least 15 times which included a mix of sushi, chinese, thai and japanese entrees. Some of my favorites are eel/avocado roll, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, steamed veggie dumplings, spring rolls. Things I don't care for, Chicken Pad Thai is too sweet with thai basil and never has enough chicken or sprouts. The edamame is not salted like at Haiku. You are a pretty safe bet with any of the sushi. read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, I don't know what happened. Change in management? Different sushi chef? I'm not sure but the quality of food dropped dramatically, worse sushi ever. The customer service was horrific. They took my order wrong and when I called to tell them they would not take responsibility and would not make it right. Terrible experience, terrible place. I was really looking forward to a nice Asian dinner with some friends, and this would have been the case had it not been for the staff's shady business practices. Food was pretty good, but the service was below average and the staff was extremely unfriendly. When it came time to pay the check, our waitress brought out a bill that was way more than any of us had expected. As it turns out, the staff tacked on an 18% tip without disclosing this to us. I can't say for sure but I feel like it has to be illegal to add a tip without disclosing this information to customers. Regardless of its legality, this is certainly an extremely scummy and shady business practice. Then, when we tried to ask the hostess about an automatic 18% tip policy, she hesitated and tried to lie to our faces about it, telling us it was indeed policy. She then proceeded to rush off and talk with our waitress about the tip behind our backs. On top of all of this, our waitress even tried to overcharge us when she claimed we were short two dollars. We knew we had counted right and when we checked, she went back on her accusation. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from the deceptive business practices of Water Moon! read more

Omg!! Giving 4 stars because I ordered in. I ordered General tso chicken .. soooooo good and fried dumplings .. sooooooo good too! Service was very slow even though restaurant was empty. the soup was cold, sent back and returned cold again, explained that the soup container was left open. the spicy tuna roll arrived 30 minutes later. the thai curry arrived cold as well. the fire wok had mainly onions and peppers very little fish. I have never been so compelled by a restaurant's food that I then made a yelp account simply to write this review. If it was possible to give zero stars, I would. While I have always lived in the area, I have only been here-- in person-- a handful of times. This was my first time ordering pick up and it was atrocious. First, it took 25 minutes to get our food, which is unheard of in my book for takeout. My mom ordered general tso's chicken, which was actually fried dough balls with a tiny piece of chicken inside. Truly, the ratio of deep fried breading to chicken was like 4:1-- we opened it up to double check. Gross. Disgusting. I ordered the vegetarian sushi entree (avocado roll, sweet potato tempura roll, & cucumber roll), of which I only ate one out of the three rolls. The avocado roll was fine, hard to mess that up. The cucumber roll was bad, but for no good reason. The sweet potato tempura roll however was, ungodly. Again, these people seemed to have been heavy handed with the breading & frying tonight. The tempura breading dominated the roll, and to make matters worse, they didn't even use sweet potato. I don't know what it was, it wasn't even orange! It was basically a roll with rice (starch), tempura (starch), and maybe a regular potato (more starch). All in all, what we received was not what was advertised and just inedible. DO NOT ORDER FROM WATER MOON. Today was the third occasion that I was flipped off and told to go f*ck myself by the delivery driver whom I gave a $4.00 tip. I live five minutes from the restaurant. After walking back inside, he proceeded to open my front door and continue shouting at me. Very scary. Very dangerous. This will be the last time I eat sushi Water Moon. Water Moon has some of the best sushi I've ever had. Their spicy crunch tuna rolls are the best I've ever eaten.

Asian fusion is trending now. You get good varieties in one place. I enjoy dining here, fresh sushi plus other Thai dishes. I give this place 4 stars because it is hard to find decent Asian fusion restaurants in the area. read more

This is the WORST Asian restaurant I have ever been to. The sushi was terrible and tasted fishy! Their sesame noodle had the worst flavor....even 5 boys left some behind. Their dumplings were filled with some sort of meat with seasonings which should never be near meat at all! Food is good, delivery is a disaster. The last time I called the woman on the phone could not understand me and I could barely understand her, and they sent me chicken and rice instead of chicken lo mein. I called back and told them and then they sent me chicken and rice again. Called again to tell them they messed up but I was done trying to get my meal, and they were not friendly and did not own up to their mistake. Tonight I ordered for delivery and they kept calling me telling me the driver was lost. My name has been in their system for a few years now, and they repeated to me the correct address when I placed the order. We have been going to Water Moon since they opened and have introduced many friends to the restaurant. We heard (and confirmed) that there are new owners and we went with friends last night. Sadly, turned out to be probably our last visit. Everything was a disappointment. The staff was sloppy and unfriendly, service was terrible, one of us is allergic to peppers and the waitress didn't think that meant all dishes without peppers. When we told her she said "sorry" with no offer to change the dishes. The food was horrible, tough duck, bland spare ribs, just nothing like what we knew the food to be like. Btwn the food, the unfriendly staff and a bad attitude we find it hard to give it another chance. Interested to see other comments on the Restaurant. read more

Randomly stopped in here for lunch with a group of us and had quite a bit of food off of each section of their menu (e.g. sushi, apps, noodle dishes, etc.). Everything was really delicious and we kept ordering more and more as a result. My husband and I split the honey baby ribs. Visited this restaurant while spending a day in Rye. I live in Queens, NY and we have pretty good restaurants in NYC, but I have never ate at a restaurant like Water Moon. We ordered from their sushi menu, their thai menu and the chinese menu. Everything we ordered were made spot on! The rolls were big. The portion size were just right and most of the all the service from Kevin, our server, was the best. Will definitely take the trip up to eat here again. read more

Ordered takeout but did not receive all the food I paid for. When I called to tell them they need to rectify it the person I spoke to was very rude and I never received my full order. To spend $44 and not get all the food I paid for is outrageous. Like bruh what? Get yourselves together. read more

So where to begin? First called to order lunch at 11am and was told to call back at 11:30 since they weren't open. Called at 11:30 and was put on hold for 5 minutes and called back...again. Placed order, then had to reverify order. Gave address and specific directions. A half hour later my phone rang and a man said: your food is here. He wanted me to leave me office and take the elevator down to the lobby to pick up for four people. Nope. I had to call the restaurant and tell them to have him come to my floor to deliver it. When I went out I told him orders are generally brought to the office....he snorted. We had all ordered lunch special rolls with crunch. The rolls we got were firstly crunchless...only one piece of sushi in one box appeared to have a pinch of crunch on it. It was like they said: lets decorate one piece with crunch and all four orders are covered. Again...nope. The nori was rubbery like it came from a two day old open package. The rice was so dry and rubbery it was ridiculous and the rolls themselves were dry rubbery and bland. Soy sauce was also delivered via a myriad of tiny packets - no small containers for this place....miso soup also closer to dish water than soup. We will not be ordering anymore.
