I went in here hoping for a quick dinner before a movie and I was surprised by how big the place was. It has a modern feel to it with the metal tables and chairs but feels fresh and clean. I started with the steamed veggie dumplings which were amazing paired with the sauce. It was soy based but wasn't too salty and had a nice, balanced sweetness to it which I loved. Then came the chicken chow fun and it was big enough that I had to take the rest home which made for a great lunch at work the next day! I loved how each bite had a new vegetable in it; eggplant, broccoli, carrot, mushroom, jicama, peppers, onions. And LOTS of noodles. I really enjoyed it! I had a very nice lunch here. for the table we ordered the chicken curry lunch special, the sesame chicken lunch special and some sushi. The hot and sour soup that came with the lunch special was just that: Hot and sour, just perfect! The yellow Curry dish was amazing, and my girlfriend really enjoyed the sushi which was fresh and delicious. The sesame chicken was also quite good, nice and crunchy. Surprised Water Moon isn't rated higher. I've never had something I didn't enjoy from this restaurant. The apps are all tasty, the entrees are good portions and very tasty, and the sushi is yummo. We do a lot of takeout since it really convenient. We love all the dumplings, the Viewtnamese salad is a fave, and the lomein, Thai fried rice, and moo shu are delish. The restaurant is always abke to seat you if you walk in and the takeout is always quick. We love this spot!! read more

We hadn't ordered from Water Moon in a few years but used to love the place. Our most recent delivery order was estimated to arrive in 65 minutes but was here in 45 minutes, so we were pleased. Unfortunately, the food was room temperature rather than hot. We ordered three dishes: the Sambal Sauce Entrée which is supposed to be spicy but, although the flavor was pleasant, it only had the slightest bit of hotness; the Broccoli Soy Ginger Sauce Entrée was OK but there was no trace of ginger in the sauce; the Lo Mein was drenched in a sauce that tasted like it was 80% straight soy sauce and not enjoyable at all. We used order from here from time to time as it was higher quality food than some of the other places around but after this experience we are unlikely to ever order from them again. read more

I happened to be in Rye this evening, so I decided to check out Water Moon and get some sushi rolls to take away. They tout a 25 Zagat rating on their front door so I was expecting sushi excellence, or something very close to it. Unfortunately, when I got my order home I almost immediately began to lament that it was just your every day, run of the mill Westchester sushi and nothing special at all. The naruto roll was the best of the bunch, very fresh and quite delicious with the accompanying sauce. The salmon and tuna rolls however were totally forgettable and were about what you'd find in any average sushi spot. Don't get me wrong, the sushi was definitely eatable, it's just that some of it was poorly made. All of the non-naruto rolls quickly unraveled after being hoisted up on my chopsticks, and I didnt really like that the fish inside some of the rolls were tiny non descript pieces, very much resembling scraps. Saw the new addition of Water Moon to seamless and wanted to check it out. The food was awesome. My friend and I started with some the miso soup, dim sum and fried pork dumplings. The miso soup had great flavor to it and the liquid didn't separate. Both the dim sum and dumpling were also great so much flavor I could've just ate that for my whole meal. My friend ordered the garlic green bean and chicken bento box. I tasted her chicken and it was also very good could use a little more spice to it. I had the Thai curry chicken which again could've used more spice to give it a better flavor. With the appetizers alone I could give this place 5 stars. But the service was a little weird. As soon as we sat down our waitress brought water and asked if we were ready to order. Immediately after we sat down. We didn't even have a chance to look at the menu. And the place wasn't packed it's not as if they needed to get us out quick. We would be half way through a portion of the meal and she would ask if we were done. I used to come eat here in rye and it was good but recently I have had the worst service and even worse delivery... I live down the street and I physically had a delivery man try to pry my door open to tell me that a five dollar tip was not enough for going down the street... I have never in my life experienced that kind of abuse it was disgusting and even when I was a server and bartender back in the day I would've never treated anyone like that... Can I just start of here saying I almost died when they gave me their "peanut free Shanghai noodles." Even if they don't accidentally almost kill you the food is still not even enjoyable in fact it's disgusting. I was trying to enjoy my Sunday afternoon when I ordered almost 50$ worth of Asian food. When I came to the Shanghai noodles, again I asked the waiter if it was peanut free and he assured me I had nothing to worry about. Then I began to hive up and my throat closed in. Excellent Food, but can be inconsistent depending on the chef. Here are a few of my favorites. Beef Pad Thai is so good that I find myself craving it. I'm not a big pasta person but this dish is so delicious I find myself eating the leftovers! Seared tuna salad is my new favorite. Nice portion.. Steak and Jumbo shrimp. The vegetables are so perfectly cooked I find myself eating them first and wishing I could just have a plate of them! I would not recommend their BBQ ribs or their wonton soup. read more

Just ordered delivery from Water Moon. The food was OK. Unfortunately if you're ordering for delivery and the place doesn't seem to know how to do deliveries it just makes for a difficult experience. I ordered a soup and got no spoon. I didn't get any silverware, period. I ordered sushi and got no container for the soy sauce. I didn't get any napkins. I'm staying at a hotel, so where am I supposed to get this stuff? Oh, and the delivery guy was kind of rude on the phone when he arrived. In terms of the food... The veggie sushi was fine. I didn't like the cucumber one, but avocado and tempura ones were good. I didn't like the hot and sour soup. The chow fun was decent. Probably needed some hot sauce, which I forgot to request. Plenty of food, due to the $20 order minimum. Overall, the food was similar to another nearby delivery place, but with the negative service experience, I see no reason to order from here next time. read more

Watermoon is one of Rye's neighborhood gems, as zen as 'zen' gets in Westchester. Reasonably priced, altruistic with selections - the cuisine, well-defined in its menus, features distinctive flavors from Asian & Southeast Asian countries, as well as innovative fusion that accommodates Western palates. Watermoon's Thai Red Curry, for instance, deviates from curries found in Bangkok restaurants, but simply put, it works. Flavorful, adequately spiced, well-portioned and just delicious. Happy to find a variety of sushi platters and special rolls, thanks to the restaurant's recent expansion of its Japanese selections. I've long been on the lookout for the ultimate sushi rice - my extensive search spanned Japanese restaurants throughout Westchester/CT, the speckles of little Tokyos in Manhattan, Queens - NY's supposed authentically "Asian" hub, more Asian-friendly states in the West coast, and a few within Asia itself. But whoa, Watermoon's sushi chef had his rice down right - totally unexpected from an Asian fusion restaurant, in Rye! The Spicy Titanic Roll was stellar. I usually prefer my makis very thin on the rice, but I couldn't get enough of the slight sweet, slightly vinegary, just-the-right-amount-of sticky concoction. 5 stars on that & the hefty slivers of avocado. It was however, a tad skimp on the fish. Consistency may be the issue here. As the nosy foodie, I tend to glance and scout around. Another table's Spicy Titanic abounded with thick slabs of fresh salmon. Perhaps it's all about one's luck. Nevertheless, I was satisfied. I will need to go back to Watermoon - and I honestly don't mind - to cover all items in the menu. For first-timers, I suggest the dim sum sampler. The huge bamboo basket of assorted dim sum & dumplings gives a pretty good introduction to the bounty of dim sum options. Dim sum here is not Chinatown caliber, but stands on its own. Enjoyed my dining experience here, quite immensely. Service is friendly, helpful & accommodating. Some frustrating timing issues though when the kitchen got swamped. Hope to see improvements on my next visit, but I'm not thwarted. read more

I visited Water Moon a few times in the past but my last visit for lunch completely won me over. I ordered the lunch special which consisted of miso soup and your choice of 2 rolls. I decided to get my usual shrimp tempura and tried the spicy crunchy salmon. I'm not sure if it was just because this was my first meal of the day but the sushi tasted amazing and was just the right amount to fill me without feeling stuffed. I definitely will be visiting again for lunch. If you're in the area definitely stop by water moon. You won't be disappointed! read more

After reading the other Yelpers' reviews, I wasn't holding my breath about Water Moon. A lot of folks were displeased with either the service or the food or both. While I can understand the complaints about service (the waiter had to be asked two separate times to refill the water at our table), I thought the food was quite good. My dining companion and I both had the prix fixe dinner special (offered Sunday through Thursday), which includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $19.99. The hot and sour soup was tasty, and the chicken pad thai was very flavorful. My companion seemed to enjoy his meal, too. Not a bad deal for Rye! One quibble: they charged me for both glasses of club soda I had, which is always a pet peeve. But the decor *is* nice, as others have noted, and ultimately this is one I'd recommend for anyone looking for a decent meal in Westchester. Probably deserves 3.5 stars, but I rounded up to 4. read more

After an evening of below average service in an empty restaurant, the crafty waitress attempted to take advantage of me and my teenage friends. She decided to tack on a steep gratuity fee that was not disclosed to us ahead of time. We were initially in shock, but came to the conclusion that it must be policy; we figured we misunderstood or did not see on the menu. On our w-out, we checked with the hostess to confirm the gratuity was not a mistake. After asking, she hesitated for several seconds and gave us a shaky "yes". When I order tempura shrimp I expect it to be ummm tempura not the same as the order for my friend which was Crispy Walnut and Prawn Chicken, both our shrimp was panko crumbed and had same sweet sauce - overall fail in terms of food quality and actual order, don't bother, plenty of better places to get Asian in this area that care about quality and food. Been there twice already and both times the food as been really really good. I am in LOVE with their dumplings! Id suggest munching on those while waiting for your food! Drinks are okay too. Only reason im not giving this a 5 star review is because the staff tend to hover while youre looking at the menu, or while youre eating. In addition, they bring the check wayyy too early. I ate here a few times about a year ago and after having bad experiences I declined to return. But a few weeks ago I decided to give it another chance. Not only was the service abyssmal but the food was barely edible. I predict this place won't be around for much more than a year or so. I hope it gets replaced with a really good gourmet Chinese restuarant, which Westchester is sorely in need of. I ate at Watermoon last night with my husband and my gay husband. We had a very good meal. I was pleasantly surprised by the wine bottle specials. We were able to grab a bottle of South African Sauvignon Blanc for under $20. They also had a decent pre-fix menu of three courses for $20. The Dim Sum was pretty yummy, too. Service was quick and friendly. My lasting impression was that Watermoon was a glorified Chinese restaurant with an above average menu and atmosphere. I enjoyed Water Moon even from the moment I first stepped in the door. They've got this big wall with water flowing down it...it's a pretty awesome sight. Then there was the food. I ordered sushi for lunch: spicy tuna roll, eel roll, and salmon roll. They were good, though not amazing. The hot & sour soup was tasty, had a good amount of spice, and was vegetarian as well (normally places put some pork in there). The appetizers were tasty too. Water Moon lost a star, however, for committing one of my biggest pet peeves. The waiter told me I could not substitute the Miso soup that came with my meal for Hot & Sour instead. Yes, I realize one costs more than the other...and the waiter should have warned me about that. I was willing to pay the difference. Instead, he just said "no, it can't be done." After I argued a little bit (and told him I was willing to pay the difference) he caved, but wasn't happy about it. The rest of the experience was positive. Four stars, well deserved. read more

He ended up throwing out a portion of the drink & replacing it with water. 2. Waiters brought us lukewarm water. We originally asked for tea. They said they were out. 3. Ordered rib appetizers. They were undercooked & extremely fatty. 4. Waiters were very inattentive during entire meal. 5. Wonton Soup tasted bland. Noodles tasted undercooked. Fried rice was insipid. Lo Mein too greasy. I've been to Water Moon a few times, and I've never been disappointed. The best appetizer on the menu is the calamari salad with a lime vinaigrette. YUM! The seared sesame tuna with soba noodles and a wasabi dressing is their most popular entree and it is delicious. Only downside...it's very loud...not ideal for a first date. read more

I ordered take out last week and was just really disappointed. I chose the Thai crab rolls and general tso chicken. The crab rolls came with some kind of pineapple salsa and had a ton of shell inside. The salsa made them incredibly soggy and unappetizing.
