We tried the egg roll which was my favorite thing we got, a spring roll which was fine, green beans in garlic sauce which were average, friend pork dumplings which were good, sauce was tasty, crab Rangoon which were a bit tough but the flavor was good, and roast pork loin mein which was so light on sauce it just felt like it was lacking flavor. All in all we thought it wasn't worth the almost $90 price. We will be on the search for other Chinese takeout options. Came to China Garden to get food to go. Their staff was very friendly and family oriented. I was highly impressed with the taste and quality of the food. I got the sesame chicken and pork fried rice - they tasted fantastic! I really appreciated that the fried rice wasn't oily like other places. My boyfriend got the chicken & broccoli and it was the best C&B I've ever tried! It was seasoned so well and the chicken was perfectly cooked (not dry). The customer service is horrible! the owners and kids working at the register and taking orders have nasty attitudes. the food we ordered was completely wrong and when we called to try and get it replaced they told us NO. Run of the mill Americanized Chinese food that is ok at best. Ordered via UberEATS so can't comment on the location itself. Food came quickly and was still warm. The moo shu chicken and egg foo young were both decent/tasty. The big miss was the Pad Thai- some of the worst I've had- my bad for venturing outside of Chinese but the Thai option was closed. The fried rice was lacking in flavor and the dumplings were just ok. Three stars may be a stretch but it got the job done. Would look for other options next go-round. read more

This place is a disgrace of a Chinese food restaurant. I've lived in Rye for 20 years and avoided this shop until recently, when I was in dire need of a quick, greasy bite to eat. I ordered the lo mein, the chicken fried rice, and a chicken with snow peas. 1) the wait: called ahead to order pickup. Was told food would be ready in 15 minutes. Arrived 20 minutes later only to wait another HALF HOUR for the food to be cooked in front of me. There were two other customers in the entire place, they were also waiting. Staff was kind, but unhelpful. 2) the food: the chicken tasted more like wet cardboard than anything that was once alive. It was as chewy and dank. The fried rice was dry, tasteless, and sad. I had to smother every dish (including the lo mein, which was also tasteless) in soy sauce that I had at home. Even my fortune cookie was a disappointment. The cookie itself was good.l but the fortune wasn't... Such a disappointment! I wanted this place to become my new go-to, but after this experience (and the unsolicited criticism of this place by a friend, which prompted this review), I just can't recommend it to anyone. read more

Last night was my third visit over the last 15 months and I think I've seen enough to give a fair review. I hope the owner actually reads these, I know I did when I owned my restaurant, as there usually is some things that need to improve buried in all the complaining. The food was good, not great but fresh and not soaked in oil. It wouldn't take much for the chefs to kick the food up to great as it seems they use quality ingredients and don't cook the life out of the veggies. If not for the following issues I'd rate them a solid 4 and probably go again. So here is my beef, and mind you I've seen similar issues every time I've gone but last night was over the top. The whole staff, looks like family, was eating when I arrived. 7:30pm. Still dinner hour and customers were coming and going but no one was working. When they did get up to help most seemed annoyed. The son, is like 10 or 11 is taking orders. I love small businesses. My son worked at my place too. But this kid is not feeling well and coughing all over the food he is bagging and giving to customers. He doesn't mention that there is an automatic charge added to your credit card if you pay with one. The guy before me ordered online but his telephone number was one number off and they couldn't figure out which order was his. The kid is 10, let him help of course but he can not be expected to function as an adult and customers want to get their food and go home to their hungry families. My bill was .50 cents more than I was told. Not a big deal but just tell me first. Felt sneaky. None of the employees washed their hands after they returned to work. One of the cooks, not the one cooking my food thank goodness, was flossing his teeth while cooking food. One of those floss picks. Gross, picking out the stuck food with his fingers while flipping the wok. Not one utensil, napkins or sauce was in my bag nor offered. I'm not a regular so I don't know they have poor customer service. I ate my food, which again was good but not great, kinda grossed out by the coughing and dirty hands and teeth picking. I have been a chef for 30 years and owned or run more than my share of restaurants so I understand the challenges a small mom and pop face, and I'm willing to cut them some slack in some areas but not these. I won't be back. Which I hate to say given I really want small businesses to succeed. I would have spoken with the owner but she was on the line cooking, she cooked my food and not easily accessible. It wasn't just a one time observation but all 3 visits. Maybe they will read this and clean up their act. I can only hope. read more

Very nice staff and love the new vegetarian menu! Delivery is fast and easy, and the prices are reasonable (which is not always the case in Rye). I recommend trying the vegan spare ribs! My non-vegan friends tell me their General Tso's Chicken is also excellent. read more

Classic Chinese place. In my opinion, this place beats water moon for actual Chinese food. I'd definitely recommend any dumplings, spring rolls, and soup. I have ordered from this place many many times. The food is the best Chinese in town. The prices are high, but you pay for the quality that you receive. Wow has this place gone down hill. Used to come here in highschool for the Chinese fix. Just tried ordering again 5 years later and the hot and sour soup tastes like socks. Not even spicy. Dumplings were edible but almost under fried. Szechuan chicken also barely seasoned. Sad :( read more
