I will preface this review by saying I live in NYC so I had sort of low expectations for food in Purchase, NY. However the food here extremely exceeded our expectations for Asian Cuisine. My co-workers and I thoroughly enjoy the Pan Pan Noodle, Singapore Mai Fun and Szechuan Dumplings. The Vietnamese Summer Roll were good, but the rice wrap was a little dry and tough. We ordered from this place from seamless for dinner and the delivery was pretty fast (about 30-40mins). We will definitely order from this place again. read more

Have been at both lunch and dinner and haven't been disappointed. The specials are pretty reasonable and I've had good luck with both the sushi and the dim sum. Actually went once for a special occasion to celebrate my son's first big bonus at his first job. They got into the moment and were delightful in their congratulations. In no way can I be considered a regular here, but I am remembered and I am greeted with mention of sushi temptations. The menu includes some Southeast Asian specials, including Indonesian and Thai dishes, which add a welcome variety. I really like the lemongrass shrimp and the peppercorn chicken. What a letdown. Girlfriend had previously eaten here several years ago, with rave reviews, so we tried it again. Clearly they have let themselves go. 1. Appetizers were not as described on the menu, and were subpar 2. Service was poor. With almost no one in the restaurant we expected it to be quicker than it was, but our waiter buzzed by us several times. He also did not hear us order an entree (in a quiet and uncrowded room), and we had to wait for it even longer than the initial order. 3. Not one roll looked as good as it did in the pictures on the menu, everything was small, hastily prepared, and lacking in flavor. Despite the large bill we actually left hungry...how is that possible?! Will not eat here again and urge you to look elsewhere for a better experience for your dollar. read more

Prices are pretty reasonable and when my coworkers and I went, they had a lunch deal for $10/pp where you had a choice of 1 appetizer and 1 entree. I was impressed with my first Rye dining experience. For $19.95, Water Moon offers a three course dinner including an app, main, and a scoop of ice cream or sorbet. First course was a spring roll. It was clearly hand made. Filled with mushrooms, the spring roll was cooked to perfection. I loved my Szechuan chicken and shrimp main course. It was a generous portion full of fresh vegetables (and not the ever so common veggies you usually get at Chinese restaurants). It had zucchini, mushrooms (both fresh and those really good Chinese dried ones), string beans, and peppers. There was lots of chicken and several substantial prawns. It came with both white and brown rice. In addition to being satisfying to eat, it was an attractive array of food. Dessert was a simple scoop of green tea ice cream. Mmmm.... love their sushi!!! They have some fun rolls and offer 4 naruto rolls which is awesome! Their Westchester roll is sooo big and so yummy! They also dont use a ton of rice which is nice! I have always gotten delivery so can't comment on the service. We did have an issue where we ordered about 6 rolls and then other food for delivery and they forgot one honour rolls. Then they tried to tell me that they'd give us a free roll next time. Unfortunately this was the only roll my cousin ordered ssooo I pushed them to send someone out with it. Food is okay but service sucks and has been consistently going down for the last year plus. We used to go every week or so but now we are down to once every month or so. The delivery of food is chaotic, slow and the quality is inconsistent. Our orders are consistently messed up. I think they need to turn over the staff, get in new management. Had dinner here last night and the food is very mediocre. This was my second time here and was hoping that the quality would have improved, but at least they are consistent. We ordered the honey ribs and they tasted dry and most certainly weren't cooked to order. They were reheated. Also had pad Thai, which was unremarkable and the shrimp seemed to be canned shrimp. The food here is decent, but it's not worth it for the nasty employees and terrible service. We ordered from them using GrubHub a handful of times before this incident happened. This time, we had ordered two meals. After waiting an hour for delivery from a restaurant that is only five minutes drive away, both meals were supposed to come with rice, but did not. We called and asked them to fix it, and they said okay. Twenty minutes later, we get a call saying they're "too busy" and we're "too far away" for them to bring the rest of the food that we had purchased. Fried rice had nice egg flavor; I usually put soy sauce on my fried rice but flavorful enuf without it. Clean, service was fast, but food was mediocre, and they are not very friendly. $4.00 for 2 small egg rolls that tasted like they came from the Costco freezer section. I had the chicken Lo Mein, and my friend had the Grilled Filet Mignon. My friend cut into his steak and saw it was raw on the inside. The waiter looked at it and 'argued' with my friend that was medium just like he ordered it. Maybe the Asian's 'medium' is the America 'raw'(?) They re-cooked it, and brought it back a few minutes later with no apology. There's at least 2 other Chinese restaurants in Rye that are much better. read more

I used to really enjoy this restaurant but it has recently gotten disgusting! Last night we ordered appetizers and there was a hair in the dipping sauce, the calamari salad had rubbery calamari that you could tell was previously frozen from an establishment like Restaurant Depot. The shrimp in the Pad Thai tasted old, smelled, and were inedible! General Tsos Chicken was all breading and a drop of chicken. Entrees came at the same time the appetizers arrived, when we asked the waitress to hold back on the entrees, she coped an attitude! Too bad, this restaurant used to be enjoyable and delicious! It appears as if no one cares. When asked to speak with the manager I was told he 'stepped out', he never came back! Don't waste your time or money! And when you think soup, you think simple. Do you think we got simple? Uh no. So then do you think it was good, uh no. So I got a wonton soup because I love a god wonton soup. So when I say the soup it had purple seaweed in it, wontons and carrots. Carrots in a wonton soup? Odd. But okay. So once I tried it (just the broth) it was "off". It tasted like ocean water. It was so gross. I didn't even put a dent in it and threw it out. My coworkers got varied things like sushi and other types of soups which they said was horrible as well. This is use to be one of my favorite restaurant to eat in. I'm not sure what happened to it in the last few months but tonight was just a combination of bad service and really bad food. We sat there for over an hour before our first dishes came out. That's after talking to the manager. The rest of the food came after that and you can tell that it was under the heat lamp for a while. Udon Noddles dried up. And shrimp and chicken way over cooked. The waitress didn't check on us even once not for water not for anything. the fastest thing that came was the check we went to the manager again and complain did not look like she cared . too bad to see it restaurant going this way because I'm never going to eat there again read more

Normally I would have nothing bad to say about Water moon, as I have been multiple times without complaints, however my most recent experience there was subpar. I went with a friend and we both sat down and waited over 45 minutes to get our food while other customers who sat down after us were being served their food. The restaurant was by no means busy but once I said something about our food the waitress then brought it out cold. We both got dumplings and they were cold and mushy. The waitress did not even apologize for the ridiculous wait time as well. I'm now much more hesitant to go to Water moon when initially it was one of my favorite Asian fushion resturants to dine at. :( read more

Our go to place in Rye! Whenever we feel like not cooking, we got to this restaurant. We ALWAYS get the spicy mango chicken dish. It's not spicy but it's the best Asian dish I've had. We have tried many other dishes which are all good, but I highly recommend the spicy mango chicken! read more

My fiancé and I order take out from them at least 2-3 times a week. They have a $20.00 minimum for delivery. We've never actually eaten there. We usually order the generals chicken and chicken fried rice and maybe some apps and it's always good! However the people that take the orders are not very friendly. We literally live 0.3 miles from Watermoon it's takes 3 mins to drive to our apartment, the delivery guys doesn't even come all the way up to our apartment he calls our phone and we run down which is perfectly fine except when the delivery guy complained about only getting a $2.00 tip. Let me mention again we live 0.3 miles away and we order 2-3 times a week. from water moon. So we probably won't be ordering from them again because of that. Other than that the food is pretty good to bad the people running that place are rude they just lost a good customer. read more

I love Water Moon! I have been coming to this restaurant for over 4 years now, and I am always happy with my meal. I love the location, which is right on the main street in Rye, and the decor is really pretty and upscale. We always start off with an app, either the chicken lettuce wraps, edamame or the spring rolls - all delicious and come out promptly. My husband and I usually order sushi - he has tried a variety of them, and they are always fresh and flavorful. I usually order the vegetarian sushi entree or sesame chicken - all great! The prices are pretty reasonable considering the location. The staff is really attentive and friendly, and are always around if you need anything. I would recommend Water Moon to anyone who loves Asian Fusion, because you can really find anything delicious on the menu and you'll be happy with it! read more

Having relocated from MAINE, I figured that I'd have better luck in New York... I figured wrong. This place had great reviews for its sushi, which I've had and agree with, but for Thai, go elsewhere. Found this on groupon and am happy to say it was a pleasant surprise! Summer rolls were refreshing and was paired w/ tasty sauce. Dumplings were well done and did not disappoint! Sushi was a feast for the eyes and well executed- beautiful presentation and was fresh. Atmosphere was better than expected- it was random Tuesday night so relatively quiet but perfect for us as service was attentive and the waiter offered the perfect suggestions. Best Chinese delivery we've found yet near our new house. You can use GrubHub to order, which means you don't even have to talk to a human. Love it. I was not pleased at all with this place. For first, I ordered their tea, which tastes like bath water. Their salmon entree was just as gross as it's unapitizing appearance. I went there for lunch on a weekend day with my four year old. The staff were courteous and patient, especially as my kid asked for some chopsticks to take home with her lol. The dining area is spacious and clean. The food service is fairly quick and the waiter was attentive to ensure we had everything we needed. Water Moon has good asian fusion food and dependable sushi. The service can alternate between being rushed and annoyingly slow. Entrees don't arrive together and the staff needs to be reminded to bring rice, once you get their attention. The crowd is an eclectic mix of couples, groups of families and tables of high schoolers, which can make for a noisy meal. read more
