Honestly in my opinion this would not be my first choice because upon entering the restaurant I noticed all the glass windows and the door needed to be cleaned they were visibly dirty. Plus take those white drapes down from the windows. It reminds me of the movie "The Wizard of Oz" - what behind the curtain? In my opinion an exterior and interior tells me a lot about the upkeep of restaurant. Now for our dinners, we all ordered Hibachi dinners. My dinner was good , however in my opinion the chicken was a little too dry, but the steak was perfectly cooked. One thing missing from the Menu which I would have ordered instead of the Chicken and Steak was " Tofu and Vegetables" Hibachi. I have been to many Asian restaurants and Tofu is usually on the Menu. The Service was good, and it was hard to understand the Chef who was preparing our dinners because he had a mask on. I respect his decision to wear a mask out of safety for himself and others however as a customer my first thought was maybe he is not feeling well and came to work anyway because the other Chefs did not have masks on. I visited this restaurant on a Friday night with my family (two adults and two children). During our visit, the waiter was unprofessional and unwilling to answer basic questions. There were children seated near us who appeared to have been dropped off without adult supervision. These children were bothering my children. When I raised this concern with management, I was told this is typical for a Friday night and that if I did not like it, I should not return. It's always fun going to a hibachi place. What's good about this place is they have a very extensive menu, so if half of your group wants hibachi you can do that and the rest can order from their menu. They have everything from sushi, to rolls, combo plates and teriyaki. There are limited hibachi stations so it's best to make a reservation but specifically say it's for the hibachi. Half our table ordered the hibachi and the other half ordered off the regular menu. There are different combos available for the hibachi depending on your price range. They may seat you on time but everyone is waiting 45minutes to 1 hour until the hibachi cook comes over to the table. Not sure why so many negative reviews and they should not effect your desire to eat here. Chipotle reviews next door are terrible but Chipotle still has super long line every time. I've always had great experience here, especially compared to other Asian food in this area. Buddha is a national chain and there is a reason it's successful and located in several high-end malls in Westchester. I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars, but if Yelp had half points I would do 2.5. That's not a big difference, but they don't quite deserve 3. Here's why... First, they were either short staffed or it was just busy for a Saturday night. Since I had reservations for their Hibachi, they couldn't seat my party until everyone arrived. Which is understood. But, once we were all there, it took about 10 minutes for the maitre'd to come to his station. Then, another 10 minutes for them to seat us. Once seated, we were never attended to for at least 30 minutes. I realize the chef has to focus on and cook each table's food individually and that takes time. However, in the meantime they could've had someone else take our drink and app orders. That would've spaced out our meals and gave us something to munch on until the chef was ready. Not to mention, they could make more money that way. Second, while it didn't bother me, the place is very kid friendly and therefore very loud. There were at least four tables with six or more kids at each one. So, if you're looking for a quiet intimate dinner I don't suggest you do their Hibachi. There's another side and while I can't say the noise doesn't travel, I would suggest going over there if that's the atmosphere you're looking for. Last, while the food was good it was not great. More of a 3.5, if anything! Can't speak for the other reviews but I thought this place was overall decent! Nothing stands out as phenomenal, but it's not terrible either. The lunch hibachi is good value ($12 for chicken base, $14+ for seafood, etc), the hibachi chef is pleasant and engaging, and the portion left me full for the day. However, charging +$3.5 for fried rice supplement to the hibachi is kind of expensive (literally you're adding a few vegetables and the smallest bits of meat to the rice we already get). The food is salty, but this is expected when you see how much oil and butter is used while cooking. 3.5 stars isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's hard to get to 4 or 5 stars unless they really bring something innovative to the table. Overall, a solid Japanese grill in the White Plains area. read more

My co-workers and I had dinner here last night and the birthday girl chose this place. All I knew was this just opened a few months ago so I read the yelp reviews. Everyone seems to be a fan so I'm quite excited to try their food. The place was pretty empty when we got there. Only a few tables occupied and 2 hibachi dinners going on. The weather wasn't the greatest either - rainy and windy. What I liked upon entering this place was the big Buddha to your right. It's humongous and pretty awesome! The interior was not too shabby either. There were life-sized Asian statues by the sushi bar and the wall dividing the regular dining room and the hibachi area were nicely decorated. I'd post pics but the ones I took came up dark. Food - I can't wait to go back!!! Everything was delicious. We had the seaweed salad, rock shrimp tempura, and chicken dumplings for appetizers. The salad was fresh and spiced just right and the dumplings were so tasty! One order was not enough so we had seconds! For the main course, not everyone was a fan of hand rolls so we got some regular entrees as well. We ordered the crispy red snapper, orange chicken and some rolls such as the old man-c, out of control roll, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, green dragon and iso. The entrees came hot and nicely presented. The snapper was really crispy (just like they described) and had this really good sauce. The orange chicken was perfect. Not too orange-y like some places will do and not lacking the flavor either. Both orders came with rice. As for the rolls, everything was fresh! They were pretty huge, 8 pieces each and rolled tightly so they didn't fall apart. Nice presentation as well. Service was great! Or maybe because it wan't busy! The drinks and water were refilled without any of us asking and they accommodated every request made such as spicy mayo on the side, more wasabi or some kid's chopsticks since not everyone in our group knew how to use one. i told the wait staff that we had a birthday girl and he came out with an ice cream bowl after we had all finished dinner and sang for her. Believe the negative reviews for customer service. I went here tonight for the first time and the customer service was so bad we left without eating. We were seated to an empty hibachi table. We chose our seats at the end of the table. The table started filing up and then a young, inexperienced, rude server came up to me and my fiancé and said "I need you to move your seat so that this foursome can sit together". Just had delivery through GrubHub. I thought the food was pretty good. I would recommend it. The avocado sushi roll was great. There was a tempura roll which was also good. The cucumber roll was... OK. There was a mixed veggie roll in there as well, which was real good too. So many rolls... more on that later. Then I had the veggie dumplings which were great. And lastly, some miso soup. The soup was good and they gave like a big container full of it. Buddha's menu is extensive. There are LOTS of options and plenty of choices for vegetarians. I think the only thing I'd say as a negative is that they require a $20 order minimum in order to do the GrubHub delivery. Part of that is balanced by the fact that there was no additional delivery charge, but the minimum forced me to order much more food than I needed. Leads to wasted food and over-eating. One other minor thing, they should've sent more soy sauce. With all those sushi rolls, the little cup of soy was not enough. I even used up the couple of extra packets they sent, but I still ran out of soy before my rolls were finished. It turned out OK, because I couldn't eat anymore anyway. But still, I would suggest they err on the side of providing some extra soy sauce. What does that cost... 25 cents? The delivery was super fast. Probably... like 25 minutes or less. It worked out really perfectly for me in terms of timing. I don't know why they estimated the delivery would be 1 hour up front, though. I think I'll be ordering from Buddha again. read more

I was on the hunt for a new hibachi restaurant as I find most of them to be a little gross because of how dark it is in the dining rooms. Jokes on me - this was by far the grossest hibachi experience I've ever had. Our chef was nice, so were the servers. However, everything in the restaurant and at the table was dirty. The table was filthy, the side dishes were noticeably not clean. My husband, one of my kids, and I all ordered sushi to start. And all three of us got food poisoning. We eat sushi a lot so this was a clear indicator the fish was bad. Front of house was chaotic and messy. No one to answer the phone consistently.
