We love Sushi and order once per week. After major disappointment with our previous spot on Greenwich Ave, I narrowed down to Kira. I love it's location and the cozy feel inside. The staff is friendly as well. The food never disappoints in flavor as it is always consistent. I will point out that with the recent spike in price their menu has increased in price and I understand. The sushi/sashimi combo went up by few dollars but the size of the sashimi and sushi has shrunken. So I am disappointed by that. If you increase the price you shouldn't shrink the portions. Amazing ambience, the staff were all so welcoming and helpful. The waitress was attentive and noticed we were struggling with their extensive menu and offered to recommend a few dishes for us. I got volcano roll and tropical roll, and both were so fresh and delicious. Tasted friend's sushi and I can say the same for the other rolls as well. It was truely a melt-in-your-mouth experience. I wanted to get another roll but I was getting full so I ordered a la carte Uni (Sea Urchin) Sushi and it was so tasty. It tasted very clean, had the signature briny uni taste and super buttery. Came in for a late lunch with friends and was seated immediately. Was greeted by a friendly waitress and was offered water immediately.The waitress was very considerate and gave us recommendations of popular rolls. Food: I got two rolls on the lunch menu, the twin and under the sea roll. It was super fresh and delicious. Also tried rolls from my friends plates. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their rolls. Service: Attentive staff that made sure our water glasses were constantly filled. That's a plus in my book. Cleanliness: No problems with cleanliness here. I did use their restroom and it smelled clean and looked clean as well. Decor: There is stone wall behind the sushi chefs that is very unique and beautiful. Forgot to snap a picture of that. The restaurant gave a casual and relaxed vibe with greenery all over. I ate there with my sister, and the Japanese food is excellent. The establishment takes all major credit cards and parking on Greenwich Ave. is free after 5 or 6. They don't really have a lot of desserts, but they have green tea ice cream. Once I ordered take-out and the staff gave me a glass bowl to take home, but I returned it the next day. They are located next to Davis Feliz. I had chicken teriyaki that was good as well as a steak that was excellent. read more

Great lunch special and service. The bento had large portions and amazing quality. The tempura was so crispy.

Food is decent, service needs some improvement. Pleasant enough but inattentive. When I walked in there was an employee at a back table sleeping with his head down on the table top. He stayed like that until half way through my meal. Not only does this not look good it is extremely unhygienic. Then the server had her back to me talking with another employee for a while and I had to get her attention to order. I was the only one in the place. When I was ready to pay I couldn't get anyone's attention until I stood up and put my coat on as if I were going to leave. Maybe they are better when they are busier....? read more

One of the best sushi places I have ever eaten at. I've been to many sushi places and I can tell you that the food here is super fresh and delicious! The tuna just melts in your mouth. I had the sushi pizza which was amazing, yellowtail jalapeño also very good, the Lava roll - love it!, Stein roll - also delicious, and the Hawaiian - phenomenal. Service is superb, the staff and waiter are super friendly, we appreciate they stayed a little bit after closing until we finished our meal. You must try this place! read more

We have ordered lunch/dinner here numerous times and ate inside once. The place is intimate with just a few tables and a sushi bar and the decor is lovely. I love the stone/pebble wall that they have. Solid sushi but not my favorite. Love the shrimp tempura appetizer that they have. They do deliver as well but sometimes it takes longer than expected so I'd rather just pick it up myself. Lunch prices are cheap and you get a lot of food, esp when you order the box. We ordered a salad and expected a small size but they bought out this huge portion, plus we ordered 5 different Sushi Rolls. My friend was craving sushi as we were going from Stamford, CT to Jersey City, NJ so I decided this was on the way. We tried going to a newer sushi place in the area, but that was an hour wait. Didn't fit our agenda. A different friend recommended Kira, so I decided why not? After eating and paying the bill, I decided that it was...just okay. Nothing spectacular. With that being said, it was pretty pricey for just ordinary sushi. I've been doing hand rolls at Japanese places recently, and I've had fresher tuna hand rolls in other locations. The miso soup was just a tad bit too salt. The seaweed salad was pretty good, but the portion was underwhelming. I think the best thing we got was actually the veggie fried rice. You get a good amount of food for what you paid for ($9.95). The sushi? Not as worth (at least $6.00 for regular rolls/han. If I were to go back and give this place another shot, I would go for their lunch specials since you get more food for less money. read more

We came to Kira on a rainy afternoon, hopeful but with modest expectations. We left extremely happy. Kira is a little bit hidden off Greenwich Ave and has an unassuming appearance from the outside. But inside we found a busy, cute little sushi spot. The menu is a mix of traditional and more modern interpretations of sushi. We found the wide variety of fish to be impeccably fresh, cut generously and served in an attractive manner. All of this is what you might expect, but don't always find. What we rarely see outside very high end sushi places is attention to smaller details: the nori crisp (likely toasted) instead of limp, the sushi rice well vinegared and the right temperature, etc. For a suburban sushi place in CT, for me, this is as good as i've seen. read more

I've been coming here for years and I still consider this my favorite close to home sushi spot. A lot of people say its pricey for sushi but it's super fresh and so yummy. My favorite rolls are California, sweet potato, avocado and rainbow. Dinnertime can get a bit busy but if you order take out or pick up they are very good with timing. If you dine-in, each roll is beautifully presented and fresh, I repeat fresh! The staff is very kind, quick and seem to work well together. The restaurant itself is a bit hidden & small but it's super cute. The decor is elegant, not too much but still appealing. I don't mind paying a bit more for good sushi and let's face it, this location is right by Greenwich Avenue, obviously it will be a bit pricey. read more

I visited Kira Sushi twice. First time was fine, nothing special, I ordered 3 rolls lunch box. Affordable price for Greenwich. But sushi is the same (so-so Chinese) quality as Tengda around the corner. Except Tengda has better ambience and not stuffy. I visited Kira Sushi again for the second time last week and unfortunately, it will be my last .. here is why. I took my car to Audi dealership for 5k service at 11AM and craved for rolls. I checked Yelp for restaurant's hours and it showed that it is open at 11AM. Great! I could go for an early lunch. I tried to open the door and was greeted by an unfriendly face saying that they are not open yet .. (then why didn't you lock the door so customers couldn't walk in?? .. then the lady locked the door behind me). Unfortunately, restaurant doesn't open until 11:30AM on a Saturday. No problem, I sat and waited on the bench outside. 11:30AM came around, the lady unlocked the door. She noticed that I've been sitting outside and waited for 30 mins. Nice customer service would at least poke her head outside and say .. ok .. we are open now and welcome us in. But nope. I decided to walk inside, .... once again ... was greeted by more unfriendly faces. This short bad blonde hair asian girl walked up to us and simply pointed her finger to the table and said 'there'. My blood started to boil a little, but I kept calm. Once I sat down, she DROPPED the menus with attitude in front of our faces as if she's angry that we were there so early ... didn't say a word and walked away. That's when my experience started going south. I was going to get up and leave, but there was another (better attitude) lady came and asked what we would like to drink. So I remained sitting down, but vowed to never step my foot inside this restaurant again. It's not like they have the best food here and when customer service sucks so badly, it's a guarantee for a no point of return here. If that blonde girl had a bad day or not a morning person, she should just go cool it elsewhere instead of being a B-iatch to customers. I hope Kira's manager is reading this. If I wasn't being civilized, that blonde chick would get a taste of my sass. read more

I've ordered from kira sushi a few times when my ex bf was in the mood for sushi and we were at his restuarant.... I sat down to dinner once. Other than the wall of water behind the sushi men, the restuarant isnt anything impressive. It's small and tucked away in an area where you think you're being led to a dumpster almost. I prefer delivery of the sushi... then I can put it on a plate myself and make it look all pretty without having to pay for a tip. I also get the feeling that we paid less for the delivery sushi than in house but I can't remember exactly. I believe we ordered about 5 or 6 rolls for delivery and paid only $40 for it and when we were at the restaurant got only 4 plus a seaweed salad and two soups and ended up paying a lot more than that... a lot more. Don't understand how that works. The night we went was also a slower night... not many people there yet the staff still wasn't extremely attentive. Depending on the layout and the feel of the restaurant I tend to get claustrophobic in small restaurants which happened to me here but ironcially never happened at Piereangelo's which is probably smaller. I'm a weird person I suppose... All in all... I'd suggest the delivery option and make it a home sushi night! read more

Hard to find such authentic food in the Greenwich. . Their black hijiki is so fresh and is very hard to find once you get out of NYC. The staff is super nice and friendly. They prepare each selection to perfection. I requested an item off the menu....an avocado hand roll with sweet potato tempura and spicy mayo inside and they made it perfectly! The decor is elegant without being pretentious. I will go back soon. read more
