I was to leave town for the holidays and decided to check my house for problems, one of which has been my ancient hot water heater. This was an incredible 35 years old, qualifying for the some kind of world record. Sure enough, water was leaking onto the floor. And on Sunday afternoon. So I left a message and wrote an email. Within an hour or so Helene responded that the owner, Neil, would come the next morning. Neil was on schedule and offered to try to fix the leak, but it was due to an old fitting that might result in a bigger leak, and anyway replacement was overdue. One reason I'd postponed this for so long was I knew the job wouldn't be easy. The unit was jammed into a very small utility closet next to the HVAC. Neil gave me a very reasonable estimate, I could leave and the repair would be done in two days. As it turned out, the person I was to visit developed Covid. So I got to see Alix and Daniel do the work. It was not an easy job, many connections were outdated and needed to be brought to current code. The new unit is better insulated than the old so it was larger as well. Plus the old unit weighed a ton due to years of mineral deposits in the tank. But these guys made it happen. I was called about 5 minutes before the window started to see if I was still available. The technician arrived exactly on time, right at the start of the window! After a short explanation of my needs he just said "OK, let's take a look at the space and talk about it." He explained every step of what they'd do to install a tankless water heater, he looked at the whole area to check for pipes, electrical access, spacing inside and out for a condensation line - making feel very comfortable that it would be planned before the installation to avoid last minute issues. A big plus, he told me he'd be part of the installation team. He also told me I should go ahead and get another few quotes. I think these guys are confident they're giving the prices in the sweet spot of costs. Then we spent time just talking about landscaping and plants! I'm not in a hurry to start this project, it's on my list of improvements and I'm just starting to investigate. However, I'm extremely impressed with the service given at this stage, the thorough approach in explaining, and the honestly. We chose a Daikin 5 ton air handler, Daikin 5 ton heat pump, all new sheet metal boots and ducting to each 11 registers .
