Our plumber from Kinsey Plumbing Services contacted A-Best for an emergency water damage removal and restoration due to a flood he caused during a cleanout in our guest bathroom, which also resulted in several adjacent rooms being affected. Although A-Best wasn't able to come out that day on such short notice, they did arrive early the next morning ready to work. With a device, they probed all over our entire home to ensure wherever there was moisture detected, would be quickly dealt with to avoid mold and deterioration. Since buying our home last November, we had new carpets installed and it was hard to watch A-Best slicing it in segments to slip these high-powered fans underneath. They assured us that when the job was complete, it will look like nothing ever happened. I was skeptical, but took their word for it. After four days, A-Best came to retrieve their fans and dehumidifiers to start the process of putting the carpets back together, but there was one area that gave them a bit of trouble. Lacking a certain tool needed, they promised to come back the next day. Ramon did such a great job finalizing the repair and also vacuumed and steam cleaned the carpet back to its former glory. They were right, I can't tell that anything ever happened. Although this entire service was comped by Kinsey Plumbing, I will not hesitate to contact A-Best for their business again. It always makes me happy when businesses can take criticism (no matter how sassy the criticizer may or may not have been) and effectively make improvements. Below is an excerpt of a message that was sent from A-Best Customer Care about a month ago: "We're very sorry to hear about your experience with trying to schedule a carpet cleaning with A-Best a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, our customer service issues were due to a negligent secretary/receptionist, who no longer works for A-Best. In addition to replacing the secretary, A-Best is now under new management and working diligently to get back our good name. " Well, that diligence paid off. Customer service has been great since I received that message, so A-Best and I hugged it out. I now have a brand new looking area rug (I forgot the rug was once not so brown!), and my bedrooms have squeaky clean, hair-free (ahem, Lilly.) carpet. read more

I purchased a $49 Sofa + Loveseat Cleaning from Groupon and ended up with a $210.00 cleaning of every room in our 1,700 square foot home. I've worked in sales before, so I understand the power of the upsell. I understand that offering such a small introductory price opens the door to bigger sale. I bought a Groupon to get my carpet cleaned in June 2013. This has been IMPOSSIBLE. My groupon expired and they haven't replied to when they will be able to come and clean my carpet. They promised to schedule it for the next available appointment and it still hasn't happened. I was trying to get my Geoupon voucher refunded and the company told me they would still give me the service so I didn't get my refund. Theorem customer service is terrible. I really don't understand how they're still open. read more

Edit: After reading my review A-Best replied (as you can see below) and offered to honor my expired Groupon. I'm scheduling a carpet cleaning with them and if everything goes well I will update this review. ... Don't work with these guys. They won't return your calls. I purchased a Groupon for A-Best. I called the phone number on the Groupon voucher and left voice mails every day for weeks. A-Best never returned my calls. The Groupon expired. Now Groupon the company will not issue me a refund because you have to request a refund within 7 days of purchase. How are you supposed to know that a company will not return your calls only 7 days after purchasing the Groupon? So, somehow I am responsible for knowing that A-Best changed their phone number without leaving a forwarding message at the number printed on the voucher or contacting people who had purchased their Groupon. I'm out of $60 and angry at A-Best and Groupon. What a crappy way to do business. Don't work with these guys. They won't bother to call you back. read more

I purchased a Groupon and have been trying to schedule an appointment. Apparently there is something wrong with their phone line. First day I called I got a message saying the number was out of service. I called the emergency line and the nice guy on call took my info for Tammy. She *DID* call but I had left the office for the day. The next day I tried calling and got voice mail but the mail box was full. I kept calling and no answer. Today I sent a web form from their site to request an appointment. Nothing all day. I called and got the same line is disconnected message. I called the emergency line again to give my info to pass on. If I don't receive a call back to make an appointment today I'm going to work with Groupon to get a refund. This is ridiculous. If I *DO* get an appointment, I will amend my review based on their service, but it doesn't look good now. 4/5/13 Got through on the line and got a voice mail box that *wasn't* full. Left a message. Bought a Groupon for upholstery cleaning. They were on time and did a fabulous job! They even gave me a very fair deal on my additional ottoman and extra long couch (not included in the Groupon). These guys were great! They got stains out of my sofa and carpet that had been there for years. I was shocked, really. I thought those stains were of the permanent persuasion. There are too many negatives about this company to name. First of all, I have never dealt with a more rude person than the one who showed up to my house when I called about some water damage I had. Ben was like a used car salesman. Very full of himself and completely disrespectful when I mentioned calling another company for a second opinion. I'm so relieved I did get a second opinion because it turns out that Ben doesn't even work for A-Best Water Damage. He has his own company, not sure what is going on with this. After some research, I found that not only is A-Best Water Damage not a licensed company, they aren't even insured! Please think twice about hiring this company. The best decision I made was not signing a contract with them. I can't imagine what trouble I would've ended up with otherwise. read more

I purchased a Groupon to have a sofa and love seat cleaned by A-Best. The guys were right on time for the appointment. It was the first time these pieces of furniture had been cleaned in 12 years, and with 4 little kids, they needed it bad! A-Best did a great job. I asked if they could clean the cream-colored upholstery on my dining room chairs, and I am sold on these guys after seeing the results! The cushions had become discolored (a very sad shade of gray), and one of my kids had scribbled with a red ink pen on one of them. A-Best had my chairs looking like new again! Even my husband was impressed! A-Best steam-cleaned the carpet in my dining room and my living room, and they steam-cleaned all of my stairs. They did fantastic work, and I was especially thrilled by how affordable they were. I have recommended them to friends and family who have also been happy. The ones who left negative comments were not joking. I purchased a groupon and wanted to add to the services so wanted to pay more directly to them. I have called now for over 6 days, left messages, and emailed and have not heard back once from anyone at this company. I will be contacting Groupon at the end of today requesting a refund. It should never be this hard to talk to someone about paying them and coming out to work. Why they offer Groupon or even open things up for services currently I have no idea since they do not return calls or schedule anything. read more

After writing this review and speaking to the Manager, I realized that there were some extenuating circumstances that led to the poor communication and lack of response with my first service. I received a phone call, an apology and an offer to make things right. I have since used A Best for all my carpet and upholstery cleanings, and have had very satisfactory service. Tammy is promt and professional when I call or e-mail, and Landon does a great job and is always professional and helpful when he comes out. A-Best recently came out to clean my carpets and they did a great job. They were really easy to work with and Tammy at the offices was so nice. She answered all my questions and really worked with me to find the right deal for my carpet and my wallet. I lucked out and got an appointment right way. Chris was the technician that came out and he was really nice, professional, and even offered me a few times on the types of cleaners I could use myself (since I own a Bissell home steam cleaner) to help prolong the life of my carpet. I took him a little over an hour to do the whole house (a one story) and after words I was amazed at the results. It looks practically brand new, which I wasn't sure would happen since mine is a light colored carpet. I would totally recommend these guys they were great and well worth the money. read more

My plumber called A-best after a small flooding problem. Bobby showed up within an hour, did an assessment and, much to my amazement, told me that the damage was very contained and that I could handle it myself with, Lysol, a blower and a small space heater. I purchased a Groupon for A-Best carpet cleaning. They honored the groupon even though the cleaning took place after the expiration date (the appt. was booked prior to expiration date). Landon was efficient and thorough -- the carpet looks and smells great! He was knowledgeable about carpet care and answered my questions. I appreciate that he didn't try to sell me additional services that I didn't need. The cleaning was excellent, but their scheduling process was a bit cumbersome, which is why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. read more

Our studio was damaged from the recent flood in Austin. I called several different services but most were booked out to long and others wanted a down payment on estimated cost. We (roommate and I) live in a rental house, and our washer flooded two small rooms, one of which has carpet. I initially chose A-Best based on positive reviews and their BBB rating. One of their guys came out after hours that first night and was very helpful and considerate, so we had high hopes. We were quoted an initial price, and a week of drying and restoration before everything would be back to new. It took 4 weeks. Again... 2 SMALL rooms, only one with carpeting, the other was cement and unharmed aside from needing to be dried. Many times the appointments that were set, the guys no-showed for. There was no communication as to why there was such a delay. We weren't given a billing statement until the last week, even though we had been requesting a written statement since the second day. We received a call from Collections through their company, despite previous 3-4 phone calls from us, to A-Best, trying to set up payment. Again, 2 appointments were made for their guys to pick up payment, and both times they no-showed. It turned out to be incredibly frustrating, and was a game of "Who called A-Best last? What time were they supposed to be here? Do you want to call to reschedule this time or should I? How many times have we asked for a statement?? How many weeks has it been??!" Very disappointed, and extremely happy to have the walls dry and the carpet replaced... FINALLY. read more

I am changing my review b/c the person who schedules finally got back with me via text by the 6th day of waiting for someone to respond to my phone calls, email and filling out the online form. I had decided after no response from the company that I would request a refund from Living Social on Friday, but I got a text Sunday offering to schedule me the next day. I decided even though Living Social would have given me my money back in Living Social Bucks to use on another deal (you can't get a money back refund if over 7 days), but since they were willing to come so quickly to make up for the lack of response, I made the appointment. The guy who handles the paperwork and explained the upgrade options was very impressive and a very nice young man. The upgrade option was very reasonable- only $20, but he did not pressure me when I declined it. The cleaning process went quickly and with a few tips from the guy, we were able to dry the couch and love seat quicker than I thought. I am shocked how well the seat cushions came out. I have never had them cleaned and my son just turned 3- there were spills all over the couch. The only disappointment was that the arms of my couch didn't come out as well as the seat cushions. I did sign a paper saying that it is possible that not all stains would come out- or something to that affect and I acknowledged that. Just wanted to update that my experience did get better after someone properly contacted me. read more
