I was a case-study in how NOT to maintain my dryer duct: It had been almost 20 years since it had been cleaned. We bought a new drier, which shut down due to restricted air flow. I had had a competitor come out the day before Omer's visit; while friendly, all they had was a hand-operated floppy brush more suited to HVAC ducts. They had no luck, and suggested I just move the dryer out to the garage and put in a new duct! Omer arrived with 2 different cameras, and a range of stiff brushes which he worked with his drill, in very tight spaces, and was finally able to dislodge what must have been a 10#, soaking wet mass of lint. He installed an upgraded flexible duct and a new outside duct cover, and cleaned everything up. I've learned my lesson: call Lady Bird out annually, and request Omer!

However, I would have appreciated clear before-and-after photos of the duct vent, both from the inside and outside. This would have allowed me to see and better understand the difference before and after the cleaning. The company was also slightly more expensive than some of the other options I considered. At this point, I'm not sure whether the additional cost was justified compared with the lower-priced alternatives. Providing detailed before-and-after photos would have helped demonstrate the value of the service. Overall, the customer service and professionalism were good, but I believe the company could do a better job documenting the results and demonstrating the value of the service.

On Tuesday, a guy named Ron from Clean Air Pro came with a drill-powered chimney sweep kit that costs $40 online. He refused to use the proper equipment, claiming a chimney drill power kit is how they "always clean air vents." The online statement on clean air pro specifically says "we use specialized equipment - vacuums and rotary brushes, among others-to complete our tasks." And it was very different from the top notch service I received 3 years prior... Their office first said they'd get back to me in a day, but then the owner, Ben called and did his best to make it right. Ben managed to find a team that could make it out the very next day (which is very short notice, so was much appreciated) A crew including Alex from Houston came to do a "fix" - and they did a phenomenal job! They not only put plastic to cover surfaces and protect from dust, they washed the registers and primed them, they vacuumed (see pic) with the proper equipment, got so much dust out , they sealed off the sides of my register boxes since attic dust was coming out (such great attention to detail!), they even cleaned out the box under my AC that I thought was beyond hope! So grateful to the company for making it right, to Alex and crew for the hard work, and to Ben (who's following up with more training to ensure his team follows exact same procedure as Houston).

He first showed me the picture he took of our downstairs attic and then the part that to me was very hinky was when I asked to see the picture of the second unit, it took him several minutes of scrolling through his phone to find another picture that showed a moldy unit. (If the picture was just taken it would've been right there next to the first picture.) Estimate was over 3K. I had another company come out two days later and they said we had no mold and the estimate $1100. I'm going with the second company who spent 30 minutes going over everything and making sure that they provided an accurate estimate versus the service we got from Clean Air Pro. The other major negative was the person didn't even put up the stairs back to the attics and left my back door open to the garage.

They did a thorough inspection and identified problems with lots of dust in the HVAC ductwork and dust and some mold in the plenum. I was shown photographs of the problem areas, and was given a very reasonable price to have the HVAC ductwork and plenum cleaned. Throughout the entire process, the crew were courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. I was shown photographs of the work when the remediation and sanitation was done. I was very impressed. I was most impressed a few days later when I realized just how much better my daughter and I are breathing now. I highly recommend these folks.
