I visit this place every time I go to Barcelona! The views here are amazing!! However, the food is a hit or miss. The plating is great but sometimes the fish isn't the exact flavor I'm looking for. I had ordered two rolls and some nigiri. One of the rolls was almost frozen inside as if the salmon had been frozen and not fresh. The waitress also forgot one of our orders. Watatsumi, you are one of the reasons why I am in love with Spain. I am by no means a sushi aficionado but I do love sushi and I have to say I loved the food from Watatsumi. I still day dream about it even though I'm back in the states. Everything we ordered was so good, and the people in my party all loved the food they ordered. Our cab driver was an obvious foodie and he highly recommended we stroll through the terrace of the Espana plaza and check out the restaurants. One thing to note is that when you generalize "Espana plaza" most people include the Catalunya museum and magical fountain that's right across so I will specify that this is located in the old bull fighting arena and you have to take the elevator all the way up to the last floor and then an escalator that takes you to the terrace, it is not on the ground floor food court. Ask to sit outside, you'll have a magnificent view, but.. on wards with the food. So we're in Spain and its not surprising to see patatas as an app in a sushi menu, but I love the Japanese twist they added with the wasabi aoili; it was absolutely exquisite. The sushi I had was unlike anything I've had in the states. My vegetarian roll had caramelized leeks in wine, and it was so sweet and flavorful in the sushi, to contrast the various onion flavors, there was fresh chives on top as well as fresh avocado in the roll, and then the way that it was served on the slate plate; it was truly a work of art. (See pictures) My friends who had fish say it was fresh, and melt in your mouth delicious; they were all so very happy with their choices and claim to be spoiled now in their expectant sushi hereon out. The wine; a local Catalunya rose was.. say it with me: "devine". An absolutely perfect pairing with sushi and only 3,6 euro for the glass. I would love to have tried the dessert but between the patatas app and the vegetarian roll I was completely full. The only critique I can give is that in the beginning service was a bit mediocre. It took a long while for them to take our orders but upon looking, they seemed to be understaffed and once someone did come over, everything seemed to flow better afterwards. You can be sure that if I were to ever have the opportunity to come back to Barcelona, Watatsumi is on the list of places to visit. read more

Chose this restaurant out of all the ones on the rooftop for lunch with my parents, partially was craving Asian food and I was curious about Barcelona sushi. The fish was fresh and the presentation was so nice. Salmon sashimi, a shrimp tempura roll of some sort for my dad that doesn't eat raw fish, I think one of their spicy tuna rolls, udon, cha siu ramen and foie nigiri (I've never had this before and these were delicious, I could've ordered so much more). The udon broth was a tiny sweeter than o was used to but was still good. Ramen was also tasty. It wasn't super crowded when we were there for lunch. We relaxed, and enjoyed some rose with the great view from our table. It was a tasty meal, I'd come back. read more

Great view of downtown Barcelona, fresh sushi, good service - can't really ask for more than that! We ordered the 36 piece sushi/sashimi boat, which was filling for 4 people. We also ordered the red sangria - not too sweet and the fruit was ripe! We also ordered the matcha mousse that wasn't too flavorful, but the paired cookies were really good! I recommend dining here during a Friday or Saturday and getting a bird's eye view of the Magic Fountain show. Can't go wrong coming here! read more

Came to the Arenas De Barcelona for the view and some food and we stopped into this place that came through for the win on the food game. Me and buddy both ordered the Shake Teriyaki and overall it was delicious and I would definitely get it again for the price range. My only problem I had was the sauce was quite salty and for future references I would either ask for light sauce or ask for the sauce on the side. Other than that, English menus and staff trying their best to communicate as best as possible. read more

Service was okay, not great. Food tasted like something you'd get from a frozen meal in the grocery store that was heated up again- not rooftop, fancy-looking restaurant food. My boyfriend and I ordered very different things off the menu, but received the *exact* same thing (& yes, we read the menu so we knew what to expect- or so we thought). Only thing was mine had a fried egg on top... Same spices, same noodles, everything. The couple at the table next to us got the teriyaki chicken and again, looked like it came right out of the freezer. Would not recommend. read more

I was recently visiting Barcelona and we arrived at a weird time, and decided to try this place. It is at the top of the Arenas de Barcelona (basically a shopping mall) and does have great views of the city. There wasn't any wait when we went so we were seated immediately. The menu has lots of options. I had the chicken teriyaki, spicy edamame, one piece of unagi nigiri and one piece of tuna nigiri. The nigiri was okay, not the best, but not bad by any means. The chicken teriyaki had an interesting teriyaki sauce, but it was good. It was very filing after a long day of traveling. I had a friendly waiter, but again it wasn't very busy at the time we ate there. Overall a good experience, but it was a little more expensive than what I would have expected for the quality. Definitely better than a lot of other Japanese places I've had through Europe. read more

Bad service service with low quality of food. This is a typical tourist hot spot mall with a great rooftop terrace with view over THE whole city, which is great. On THE rooftop terrace are alot of restaurants which look amazing from THE outside and atract you to come inside. We also fell for THE looks of this restaurant, but quality and taste of THE food is very poor. I suggest check for other restaurants before eating here!!! read more

Slow, inattentive service by staff who do not even bother to greet you let alone give you water. We had to flag someone down and even then they brought our drinks to us but only two glasses for three people. It was a comedy of errors from there. read more

I have to say this place was really good-- we all tried the pre-set menu for 25 euro which included an appetizer, soup or salad, sushi, a main course, dessert, and a drink! Dropped in because we were in the area and needed lunch quickly. It's located on the restaurant (top) floor of a mall and we chose it since they seemed to have something that would suit our three-year-old and because we would be OK having Japanese. And what a lucky score it turned out to be! The service was gentle, humble and swift and they adapted well to us having two kids (we had a baby as well). We went for set menus (a sort of a menu del dia) for all of us and they were all lovely. Our son was served noodles, chicken, spring rolls and sushi with cucumber and mango (!) for €11, while the adults had a choice of soup as a starter and a choice of bento boxes for mains (about €13-14 if I'm not wrong). The food was delicious, served quickly but still tasted fresh, and all menus included dessert. Would definitely return if we had the chance. read more

This is most underrated restaurant that I checked ever! Food was delicious, interior iz cozy and it has probably the best view in Barcelona. And I don't know why it's rated as $$$ as prices are very cheep considering what you get! My recommends for everybody! read more

I was a bit concerned after seeing the previous reviews, but I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I ordered sushi, and it came out quickly and tasted fresh. I also sampled all of the other meals that my group ordered and was equally impressed. Moreover, the staff was polite and efficient, and the menus all included English. The food was a bit pricey, but the spectacular view made up for that in my opinion. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. read more
