We've lucked into great Japanese and Chinese food across France, Portugal, and Spain. This was not one of those great places. In fact, this was one of our least appetizing meals of any type over 4 weeks of travel. Some of the worst ramen of any restaurant I've ever tried. The fried rice was not much better. With all the great restaurants in Barcelona, there is no reason to eat here. Noodles were not ramen noodles by any stretch of the imagination. More like pasta masquerading as ramen. It's kind of like a cool meets east modern japanese joint. The service was ok but the food was pretty good. I had the soft shell crab roll.. It had all the crunchy veggies and texture going on. The rice was a bit warm but cooked well. I would definitely order this again! Agedashi tofu was crispy and light in a fragrant broth. It was legit! Cucumber sunomono was obnoxiously large but tasted great: crunchy, sweet and tangy. I just have an addiction to sunomono and this one didn't disappoint. Slow service. Mediocre food. For Christ's sake they don't even have the name right. The name in japanese is spelt and supposed to be Kabuki but the restaurant is called Kibuka which is not even a Japanese word btw. Waiters took to long to come by to ask for our order. Mediocre food, horrid service. Food: The menu boasts a variety of Japanese fusion sushi rolls with different ethnic themes, such as a Thai roll, a Greek roll, an Italian one and more. I opted to try the Thai one; the rice was dry and grainy and the ingredients weren't too fresh. I also tried the salmon skin roll, which was slightly better. The quality of the rolls were what I'd be able to get at the equivalent of a Japanese fast food joint in California. Service: I ordered three rolls and a dessert. One of the rolls didi not arrive until 10 minutes after I had finished my dessert, as well as the other two rolls -- a full hour late. By that time, I no longer wanted the long overdue roll and told the waitress accordingly. The attitude and backlash I was met with was astounding. She had two other servers talk to my table (after conversing with them at length in very loud Spanish for several minutes) and say that they were not at fault for the delayed dish. One star for service because it was ridiculously slow. I Sat in the restaurant for twenty minutes before being served simple water. I had a different water bottle and The waiter rudely told me to put it away. I understand if it was outside food but seriously, it's water so I just don't understand. The interior is decent. The only reason I'm giving four stars is because the food was good. The mozzarella Uramaki was good and so were the tuna hand rolls along with the hot Philadelphia roll. read more

Going to a Japanese place in Barcelona ? I had avoided trying to eat at any Asian restaurants in Europe, especially Japanese food! But I couldn't hold it anymore when I was in Barcelona so I caved and found this delightful place. The staff are fun to observe, I've gotta admit. Freshness of the sushi itself are just average but the rolls and seweed/cucumber salad are worth ordering. When I was here it wasn't busy, but then again, that was before 9pm. Servers speak English and English menus are available upon request, as I recall. Although if I lived here, this wouldn't be my sushi fix but for other Japanese cuisines, it's worth a try. read more

This will sound odd for a sushi place review but, if you like south american desserts come to this place (yes, go figure). Starting from the end of the meal, we were surprised they had Dulce de Leche Flan (Pudim) and Brigadeiro - both traditional south american (Brazilian) desserts, in a sushi place in Barcelona... both desserts were good, by the way. Back to asian fare. Sushi rolls were good and reasonably priced (regular rolls EUR 5-6, special rolls EUR 10) - we tried the teka, shake, Ebi Tempura and Hot Philadelphia. The apps were A-OK (Yakimeshi, Yakitori, and Aguri Shake). Service was alright. Could be a 3.5, but gets the bump to 4 because of the unexpected dessert. read more

I've had lunch here and would probably consider it my favourite Japanese lunch in Barcelona. As other reviews have mentioned, good quality Asian food is very hard to find in Spain. As such, I think this place is awesome-- but if you've been to Japan, you can easily point out the flaws in cooking authenticity. The price for lunch and amount of food they give you are both awesome. Any lunch that's 15 or under is great in my book, but a lunch at that price that is so large you might have to take it to go? Well, that's a real winner. I had the wakame salad, california roll, vegetable tempura, and matcha green tea. I had a sapporo beer as well, though that was an extra euro. I thought my salad was weirdly amazing, and the california roll was surprisingly fresh. A bit soft- I think slightly crunchier cucumber could have helped. Vegetable tempura was not greasy, but a bit heavy and the main sign of unauthentic Japanese cooking. In my experience, this is one of the hardest things to find done correctly outside of Asia, though. Would definitely return; and if you go, I recommend that you sit at the bar! Watching the chefs make the sushi is super fun! Also, be there early or late- the queue for this place was out the door at standard lunchtime! read more

I'm so glad I found sushi in Barcelona using yelp! I ate so much yet had room for more. All the fish was fresh and very tasty. I had my usual, agedashi tofu, seaweed salad, tai nigiri, shrimp tempura roll and one of their creative rolls italiano with mozzarella cheese, tomato, and salmon. The rice to fish ratio was perfect. A lot of the other customers were looking on our table to see what we were eating. I noticed a lot of people were ordering from the prefixed menu. My first time at Kibuka. Friends had recommended it to me and I have to admit it was pretty great! The food is excellent. We were 4 people and ordered 7 dishes: sashimis, chicken teriaki, tempuras and some fusion makis. Everything was delicious. Had a chocolate coulant and Sensha tea ice cream for desert. Yummy. Sushi was great. I enjoyed it but the restaurant itself was plain. There was no decor and you are surrounded by white walls. The servers were not friendly at all as they did not have a menu in English. We did not understand the menu since it was in Catalan and they just didn't want to explain, so husband and I winged it. Ordered: Two waters Chicken Udon soup- very tasty Salmon Roe Fish Egg sushi- (it was supposed to be a salmon skin roll) but it was ok the fish eggs came out frozen though. Soft Shell Crab Roll- on the menu it only said Soft Shell crab so we didn't realize it was an actual ROLL with 6 pieces Shrimp Tempura Roll- which came out great and the batter was very light. The service was great but the fish didnt taste so fresh. The only roll I can recommend is the salmon roll with the camarlized onions. The crab and rainbow roll wasnt super good. But it also could be just a comparison to san Francisco sushi...it might be the best in Barcelona. read more

In the charming barrio of Gracia lies this gem of a sushi place. Their menu is really one of a kind. They have all the traditional sushi bites in form of nigiri, maki rolls and sashimi. But what makes this place so special is their selection of special makis, inspired from flavors from all over the world. How about a Mexican maki with flavors of cilantro, avocado and chili? Or thai maki with a dipping sauce similar to satay? Or Italian mozzarella and pesto? Or cerviche? They manage to incorporate all these particular flavors that you would associate with completely different types of food into wonderfully fresh and tasty makis that still ARE makis. I'm in Spain visiting my daughter who has been living and working near Madrid for the past few months. She was craving sushi like we can get at home. Pretty average. It's fairly good, but not like the best sushi ever. The people weren't really that nice, and when I asked a waiter about a food item that I had never heard of again she looked at me like I was stupid. The restaurant is super crowded too, so not great if you're looking for quiet. I wish I had liked my sushi more, and this restaurant is beautifully situated, but it's sort of expensive and really loud. The interior isn't that nice either, I mean not bad though, maybe I just didn't choose a good sushi choice. I think there must be better sushi in BCN. read more

This was among the best sushi I've ever had, and certainly the best meal (which is saying a lot) in Barcelona. Order the spicy tuna maki. It's simple yet perfectly balanced in flavor and spice. The California maki is another winner. The miso soup with seaweed was divine, and we split the fried rice with mixed seafood as the main entree. Perfect amount of food, reasonably priced. The best part is this is nestled in the heart of La Gracia neighborhood, so this is a local spot. No tourists here! (Except for us!) Enjoy! read more

Sushi tastes fresh, Miso Salad is one of the best I've tasted. Agedashi tofu is ok but I'm from California and my favorite is Agedashi Tofu from Honda Ya in Orange County. Fixed menu is a great deal. I went on my first visit to Barcelona after reading the reviews in Yelp! I live in Madrid and was raised in Asia. Unfortunately in Madrid asian food is not very good, they adapt everything to spanish taste buds. The decor was simple. The waitress was nice and helpful. They do not accept AMEX cards...so you need to be prepared with VISA card or cash.
