A lovely Japanese spot located in central Barcelona city! The space was very quiet and intimate. The portion sizes are small, for an American. So, I would recommend ordering more dishes to share and try. Everything was fresh, but nothing really stood out to me and I wasn't a fan of the crispy tempura (batter to veggie ratio was off), the noodles, or the edamame (too oily). My favorite items were the eel pieces. Their menu is vast, so I wouldn't be opposed to trying out other dishes. We finished off lunch with a homemade matcha mochi with matcha ice cream. The food is good, specially the sushi and the ambiance is very modern but simple. I was a little disappointed that reservation was needed: even though, the inside was completely empty and had to wait until the next available time (note: no reservation showed up while we were waiting outside for our time). So it wasnt bad, it wasnt amazing, just kinda middle of the line. I read about the restaurant in a magazine and the food looked bright, and creative and delicious. But what was on the menu and what came out just wasnt as featured in that magazine. Now the glass of cava and tuna tataki with avocado cream were yummy, but I ordered vegetable noodles and fried rice came out instead. Service was fine. Minor hiccups here and there but I dont think I would return. Just expected a little more. read more

Um, wow. Just...wow. I'd always thought Los Angeles had the best sushi out of all the places I've sampled it in, but no. Barcelona has completely redefined my sushi expectations. All of their food is pure culinary magic, but their seafood is something else entirely - the stuff of foodie dreams. Excuse me, I'm getting a little teary with nostalgia. We actually found Nomo by accident. We were cluttering along the beautiful streets of Barcelona, on our way to another sushi joint. My friend and I, along with her boyfriend (who's a bit on the picky side, although he denies it...bless him) realized we were lost and asked a friendly local for directions. He told us where the place was, but helpfully added there's another great place just a few doors down from where we were standing: Nomo. We graciously accepted his advice and headed to Nomo instead of the other place. And we were so glad we did! The interior had us sold - beautifully dark and modern, littered with baby bonsai trees and a rainbow of sake bottles. To order your food, you simply stick numbered magnets (for quantity) onto a board with the number of whatever item you'd like. It was very innovative. So even before we ate, we were finding reasons to love Nomo. But once the food arrived, that was when we really fell head over heels. We ordered a complete buffet of incredibly fresh and expertly sliced sushi. Rainbow rolls, spicy tuna, toro, salmon, yellowtail, and some of the best eel I've ever had the pleasure of eating. My friend's boyfriend got a cooked steak entree and actually finished it (you don't understand how happy it makes me to see a light eater finish something). My family and my best friend loved it too. The staff was super friendly, and the owner even chatted with us. Great food and great experience. If you're ever in Barcelona and appreciate sushi, make sure to stop by Nomo. Let's start with the good things. Well, Nomo is located in one of the prettiest streets in Barcelona, which explains the slight over-pricing of its menu. I liked the dessert. Very simple vanilla ice cream paired with a chocolate mousse dripping melted chocolate. I also appreciated the eel uramaki, even though kind of biased by the extreme hunger I faced it with. On the negative side, I found the service to be pretty cold towards the customers. Moreover, the first dish, which was included among the "Suggestions" of the chef, was a big disappointment. Five shrimps covered in a spicy sauce resembling pre-packaged salsa brava on top of a bed of fried little noodles that left me confused for a while. Overall decent experience. Nevertheless, if up for a sushi, I feel like suggesting Kibuka for the quality and Toyo for the price. Peace out legends! read more

A really great Japanese restaurant in Barcelona. Good value for price, big portions (8 rolls rather than the usual 6) and delicious sushi. Be sure to try the Unagi to Foie, with foie and eel, as well as the Chicken Teriyaki with mushrooms. Overall, this is a great restaurant, reasonably priced and nice atmosphere. Delicious food! The tuna tataki with avocado cream was amazing. The Rainbow Roll was the most impressive version I've ever had. We also sampled the miso black cod, which was as good as any we've tried (we usually order this off any menu if it's on it). The vegetables in the vegetable tempura were julienned before frying, which made them more like french fries -- they flew off the table, everyone was eating them so quickly. The meat and vegetable gyoza was also very good (but they only serve 4 for one serving, down from the usual 6 we see at other restaurants). We saved room for the triple chocolate mousse which was satisfying and delightful. The only complaint I have, which sends them down a star, is that the service was really awful. The waiters are rushed and busy, running food from the chefs to tables nonstop, yet no one could really tend to our needs and give us water when we needed it, or the check when we were ready. read more

Been here around 5 times and despite the fact I got sick the last time I visited them, I will go back. Great sushi, good wines the only negative thing (mentioned in other reviews) is the service. Being a good waiter requires some skills, some waiters here are lacking those skills. But hey the sushi makes up for it and makes up for the clumsy service. Oh btw..you can't make any reservations. You show up and you will get a seat if there is a table available. Pretty popular place so try to be there once the restaurant opens. read more

The food was acceptably good, but customer service received from the Host was the worst I have experienced in 5 years eating out in Bcn (and I must stress that I am a frequent restaurant-goer ). He was specially rude, bossy, unhelpful, unreasonable, unpolite and arrogant. Restaurant owner must consider replacing this employee or providing him with proper training. Will never come back to this place. Sorry that the waiters did not get any tip, but it is the Host to blame. read more

Food wasn't that great to be honest... it was waaaay to salty. We ordered noodles and the yasai-yaki and it was a pain to eat them... I can't stand how people eat such salty stuff. Nomo was recommended to me by someone when I was visiting Barcelona. Being an avid sushi fan and having been to many great sushi restaurants (including having sushi at Morimoto) I was of course a bit skeptical that the restaurant would be as good as it was described to me. I'm happy to say it was THE BEST sushi I've ever had in my life. The flavors were pronounced, delicious, and balanced. And the creativity and sheer craftsmanship in the presentation is unmatched. I sat at the sushi bar on my second visit just so I could watch the sushi chefs prepare the food. They are artists, period. If you go, you must try the foie gras and eel roll. It was amazing. They had a special preparation with uni the night I was there. I've never been a big fan of uni, but their dish won me over. It's always pretty busy, but the servers are very attentive. If you want an amazing sushi experience, you have to try this place. It saddens me that I can't go back whenever I want to go. If this place were near me, they'd be getting almost all of my dining out budget. read more
