    Sashimi and caviar appetizer

This is one of those places where you want to make sure to eat before they start racking up more Michelin stars. The decor and ambience is very nice, but not pretentious or unapproachable. We were seated at the sushi bar and the servers were attentive and accommodating. We opted for the extended tasting menu and this was truly one of the best meals of my life. Multiple times throughout the meal, I found myself thinking "I didn't know food could taste like this!" They also have an amazing sake list that is worth exploring. Each dish was presented and explained in a way that really showed how much time, effort, and passion each chef put into their food. This was truly a revelatory experience for me, the next time I'm in Barcelona, I will be back. You cannot find a better meal for the price.

I went to Spain last month for my birthday so I decided to treat myself something nice. In a one Michelin star restaurant, I didn't feel the atmosphere is pretentious. The deco is contemporary and comfortable. The staffs are friendly and attending. I ordered from their tasting menu and I was in heaven. It was started with a cup of dashi and chips. They made the daishi in front of you with the coffee maker, not the mr coffee, it's the artisanal one. You don't see this everywhere. Then the appetizer start serving Scallop with truffle Shell fish sunomono Sashimi appetizer 3 types of ebi sushil Seafood tempura Crab tempura with sautéed mushrooms Mackerel sushi (the freshest Spanish mackerel I've ever taste) Tuna hand roll (the richness of the tuna is almost like chi toro) Chi toro sushi Anago sushi Dessert assortment I would definitely go there again whenever I visit Barcelona.

Reputation well deserved as fusion japanese. We got seated in front of who was perhaps the sous chef. We opted for the 2nd omakase course. Our amuse bouche was a trio that started with fried satoimo slices with foie gras dip, with deep fried baby squid in dashi broth and anchovy with apple drizzled liberally with yuzu We had an amazing dashi with shiitake mushroom broth. Followed by spanish caviar with yuzu gelli with mashed pink turnip Baby octopus with mirugai and razor clam with yuzu gelli, ? sauce and blanched green onions Nyumen with sea cucumber (best i ever had) and spanish asari (chef substituted the pork out for me). Broth was spectacular, dashi but tasted different from the shiitake soup. Semi grilled sashimi lobster with a round robin of dipping sauce as follows - lobster head foie with yuzu, toasted sesame seed, NOT kikkoman soy sauce, sea salt accompanied by rice cracker lobster and bits of blanced lobster Black truffle slices with chu toro, toro (diced and sliced) and maguro with uni and freshly grated wasabi Spanish beans tempura, with yuzu foam and grilled black cod Ama ebi and baby ebi with veggie and fish cake with ebi + yuzu dipping sauce Wagyu tataki with brown rice and fried nori We had to skip the sashimi course (would have been maguro agari, anago and a temaki). I was ready to exploded at this point. But we also had a 2 course dessert. Since dessert is reserved for a separate stomach - we had it Yogurt ice cream with yuzu Shunka tiramisu - dorayaki cake, green tea marscapone, chocolate craker and home made expresso ice cream that was so strong I thought it punched me in the face when I tasted it.

What an amazing experience. Made reservations after ready several blogs that all pointed to this being an amazing find in Barcelona. I had my bucket list set to dine at a Michelin star restaurant and so happy that this was my first. I made reservations 2 months in advance to insure I would get in as I was only going to be in Barcelona for 3 days. I had one of the tasting menus and was totally impressed by the creativity and more so of the flavors. This is not an American typical sushi and I knew that but it was so much more that I expected. The food was all top quality and the presentations were over the top. I truly enjoyed every course and the fact they change your chopsticks with each course too. But the very best part of it all was the Waygu beef.... I'm still dreaming about it.

Really great Japanese restaurant. Had one of the degustation menus. Unfortunately I don't remember everything I had but most of it contained raw or only partially cooked seafood. If you're not a fan maybe this isn't the place for you. The waiters were very friendly and the food was beautifully plated. I think this is a great restaurant for date night and also girls night out!

I went there with a group of friends. The food and service were excellent. We had a menu a goof variety of the restaurants dishes (which I recommend if it is the first time you go)

A custom made plate to look like the Japanese flag, WOW!

I arrived for a late lunch (according to American standards, of course, as it was probably perfect timing for the rest of the Spaniards in the restaurant) and was quickly seated. I had gotten my filling of tapas during my stay in Barcelona and needed a bit of palate cleanser with a hearty, flavorful bao filled with meat -- a bit like an Asian taco, if you will. I stood firm in my order despite it feeling like heresy as "ramen" is in the name of the restaurant and a quick look around me revealed that most of the tables were definitely enjoying their ramen. Still, with things like pad thai and kimchi on the menu, I felt like I had permission to indulge in my cravings. I dug into a starter of some chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken) that came with some homemade teriyaki sauce on the side. The chicken was perfectly crispy and the teriyaki sauce complemented its flavor instead of being too overwhelming. But the order did seem a bit on the pricier side at €7.50, which is basically the same price as one of the baos, so I think I would've ordered an extra one instead. As for the baos, I got three: the pork, the chicken, and the shrimp. They all tasted very similar to each other -- the pickled cucumber and carrot on the pork and the sauces on the shrimp did most of the heavy lifting, so I barely tasted the difference in meat. There are other places that ofter this bao delicacy in Barcelona (my reco would be Boa Bao) so come to Koku Kitchen for the ramen and gyoza instead. I did appreciate the decor of the place, especially the flower placed in a brown apothecary-esque bottle and the dim, hip vibes of the bathroom.

Well I was curious to see how good or bad ramen place would be in Spain. Well curiosity killed the cat and my wallet for wasting my money . Restaurant was packed. I thought we would wait but was asked to follow one of the staff. Went downstairs and saw another dining room which was cool. Also packed with people so I was little excited to taste the food. Ordered angry chicken bao.. Don't know why it was angry because it wasn't spicy at all. Took a bite and was trying to figure out what the sauce was.. Little taste of peanut. Bao was alright but not worth the money for how much it cost for one. Then got the pork gyoza. Not bad, not much flavor but wasn't horrible. Then the main dish I ordered spicy miso ramen and pad Thai.. Why I ordered pad Thai at Japanese restaurant in Spain? I have no idea. Presentation of ramen was good. Tasted the broth and I was confused because it tasted sweet and lacked in miso flavor and no spice what so ever. Ramen was cooked little al dente. Employee was nice enough to offer chilli.. So added about 4 spoonful and tasted little better. Over all the ramen was pure disappointment, probably the worst ramen I ate at a restaurant. Then the pad Thai.. Tiny little bowl only with shrimp cut in half on top. I thought I was disappointed with ramen but man... This dish was utter failure.. No way anything near pad Thai flavor. It tasted like egg fried noodle with shrimp on top. It lacked in so much flavor. So dinner was pretty sad.. I could not recommend this place to anyone.. And holy smoke 5.50 for side of kimchee.. What the heck.. Can't wait to tell my mom how much they were charging for side of kimchee...

They said it is not allowed to share a menu and everybody has to order a menu for themselves. It is written on the menu that the menu is for minimum two people (which basically means that you cannot go there alone!) and when we asked for 2 menus to share between the 4 of us they said there is no way (There are 3 menus of fixed 40, 65 and 50 euros per person). This rule is not mentioned in their website or their menu whatsoever. When asked, the waiter who claimed to own the place said "I have to run this business and profit, and I cannot allow this". He was rude and trying to embarrass us to force us to go with his scheme, to rip us off by what basically was minimum of 40 euros per person rule! We decided to leave and asked for the bill for 2 bottles of water that we ordered and he said that is a gift from them (in a rude and downgrading way) and another waiter tried to charge us for them at the exit. Our reason to leave was that we did not plan to eat that much and spend that much that night, but mainly because of their arrogant, unfriendly and rude behaviour.
