How these guys won best large business in Tehachapi is beyond me--but it's clear the Tehachapi gov needs to get their heads out their collective asses. Also, why would you choose a national corporation to pick as "best big business" here? Might as well pick Walmart. Dumb. They miss our trash frequently. This time it was the recycling. We tried to call several times and no one answers. Instead, they say to leave a message and we'll call you back but no one ever has--after 3 separate calls and voice messages. I'm starting to think no one works there. Or, perhaps the employees have been replaced by cats; that would at least be funny, but the truth is, it's not funny, it's ridiculous. We needed our septic tank pumped and made a list of companies that provide that service in the Tehachapi area, one of which was WM, because besides offering trash pick up, the do septic services. So, despite the negative reviews, (nobody is that bad, are they?) we called their office, every day during the week, different times between 8:00am and 2:00pm. The phone rang, and rang, and rang, and rang. We won't be using their septic services because we never spoke to anyone to get an estimate. Conversely, three years ago, we called Benz for the same service and the technician came out around noon that same day, discovered he brought the wrong truck for the job, drove back to town, returned with another unit and was done before 4pm. We are on a KEEP FULL BASIS and these IDIOTS ran us out of propane for the second time. The first time was over a year ago and I just chalked it up to them learning their jobs. For almost 20 years we had Benz and never a problem. WM ran us out this morning. We called WM and they said that they would try and get someone out to deliver our propane. After speaking with a friend that had the same problem with WM a few years ago they switched companies and are now with Kern River Propane. I called KRP and spoke with Carla. Carla was kind enough to set up a temporary tank to be delivered today. 30 minutes after speaking with Carla the portable tank was delivered and installed. Tomorrow our permanent tank will be filled. Stay away from the idiots at WM and go with a company that knows customer service, KERN RIVER PROPANE!!! read more

Upped my dumpster rate for having some branches sticking out of bin.. said it was "unsafe" for the driver. I question the people running this company at the top, as they must just feel like with a monopoly on trash pickup, the couldn't care less, and it shows. read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE: Extra Hidden Charges May Occur!! Waste Management hereafter referred to as WM, took over for Benz Sanitation here in California City. Benz never gave good performance in many areas and was sued for illegal practices. *More of how this relates to WM later. So we decided to give WM a try in pumping out our septic system as they are our current Sanitation Company for Cal City, of which we enjoy their services. We call and requested the septic pump out. They said it could be done by the 14th of June 2021. Agreed price was $300 US Dollars. After a day of no show, we call WM back. WM stated they were backed up and would reschedule within two days. After two days no show We called WM again the receptionist apologized after going over our request and discovering she had written down the wrong address, and someone would be out the next day or two days after, and the driver of the truck would call a half hour or so prior to arrival. June 18th, the next day we received a call about 6:30 am the WM driver said to expect him in 30-45 min. The Driver arrived removed the 2 caps from the extenders and proceeded to pump out the septic (solid) tank. He was very polite and seemed to know his business. So far things appeared to be ok. When it was time to pump out the leech tank, aka deep-well, half way through the WM worker said his pump was no longer pumping or that something was clogged. He then checked his truck's tank, sounding it with a hammer, and said his truck's thank was full and he would need empty the truck's tank. (It is my understanding. I may be wrong, that truck tanks are emptied in between pump outs). So I said, that's ok. I will pay you $200 now and the other $100 when you come back and complete emptying the deep well. He said he did not know if that could be done. I re-thought the situation and said the job is not finished so when you empty your tank, return and pump out the deep well. I will pay the full amount of $300. He said he would need to call his supervisor to see if that could be done. When talking to the supervisor I was informed that my septic (solid) tank was one tank and that WM charges $300 for 1500 gallon deep well pump out. And that my deep well was mostly like clogged from laundry and other detergents, possibly tree roots, and that I would need to pay an additional $300 to finish pump out the deep well, after the driver returned from emptying the WM truck!!! I replied to the supervisor that our system is maintained with Rid-X and that our laundry soap and grey water were not emptied in to our septic system. I replied to supervisor this extra charge scenario should have been mention before the driver showed up, as customers rely on a professional's knowledge of septic systems types. These pricing details should have been covered at the time I requested the septic service. Not after the tanks are being pumped to be told there is a 1500 gallon limit and doubled the price to complete pump outs. The supervisor replied we are professionals. I replied granted you are, but it should have been a informative common courtesy, to make all the details known when scheduling the septic system pump out. He agreed. I replied to the supervisor that all the septic companies we had dealt with being in our home for about 28 years, none ever charged separate to pump out the deep well it was included in the quoted price. *In further conversation with this supervisor, he said this was standard charging practice for WM., and that he formerly worked for Benz Sanitation in Cal City and that it was standard practice there. Of note: A previous encounter with Benz when our home was only 10 years old, we needed a septic system pump out. Benz was called on to pump out all the tanks. Within a few weeks after pump out, we experienced sewer backup. Calling Benz for a re-pump out, we were told Benz would not re-pump out without charging a second full price pump out and that we needed a new deep well. Price tag $3000.00 US! So, we sought a second opinion. We had a second Sanitation Company to come out and check things out. The second company said it was no problem but that the deep well and septic was not fully pumped out. The second company completed the job, we did not need a new deep well. I've paid WM the $300.00. I will not be using WM Septic Service again. Because this handling by WM. A low Score for this review is given. Again Customer Beware! read more

I have no idea why I didn't search yelp before we even entertained using WM for propane. We are new owners and when we moved in we realized that there wasn't propane in our tank. Called in a panic to set up service and get an emergency fill. No response.. got in touch with the person who was supposed to set up account. Was told that someone would get in touch. (Insert cricket chirping) so after freezing and not being able to cook or shower for nearly a week(all is run on propane) we are having their tank taken out and replacing with a company that knows what customer service is. Look at the reviews. THEY SUCK. It seems they do not like being forced by the city (or county?) to pick up and haul away large bulky items for free....as local law requires. So what do they do? The make appointments for pickup of large bulky items AND THEN THEY JUST DON'T SHOW UP. No call to re-schedule, or apologize -- they just f-ing ignore customer requests. I'm on my FOURTH promised date for a bulky item pick up that has been completely ignored. My next step is to go to local government and tell them WM is ignoring the promises they made to obtain their franchise to pick up trash in my area. read more

2 employees came to my home in bear valley springs to pump the septic tank. They were unable to completely empty the tank. When I asked why they were unable to empty it, they said that it was nothing to worry about and it is really a common issue with septic tanks. Well, I didn't worry about it, unfortunately, months later I discovered that the septic tank was flooding the yard. Naturally, i called then for assistance; i was told they were going to look over the file and then then call me back. They never called me back. I called them two more times over the ncext 2 days and they still never returned my call. I've been forced to contact another septic service company to try and resolve this issue. I feel they were under an obligation to explain to me that there was a potential problem (which i have now learned would have been clear to any competent employee in this industry) in fact, i was told that they absolutly would have recognized that a tank that will not fully drain needs further inverstigation. After this, largely due to their complete failure to be helpful with current problem (which may or msy not have been prevented or exasperated by their inaction, I think they deserve the rating i gave them and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
