This is a great place to do your laundry if you stay in NYC. Wash Land is just a couple blocks up from the Sheraton which made it convenient. Most of washing machines and dryers were working. They work by a card you purchase and it's cash only. I recommend you check the place out before you try. There was a nice hispanic gentleman there who answered all my questions. For a small bag of laundry you might want to spend $20 and bring your own detergent. $2.00 for the card, and you have $18 left to use as credit on the machines. We went there around 7:30 am and there were a few people there and machines in use but we found machines to use. Not much seating but lots of tables to fold your own after. Save your card so you don't have to pay for a new one and you can load more cash onto it. read more

However, the attendant took care of us right away gave us a ticket and said everything would be ready after five.. $18 for up to 10 pounds of laundry seemed pretty reasonable. I've got a lot of respect for this laundromat: it's a cheap, reliable operation and you get what you pay for. On one end, you can wash and dry your own clothes in the coin-operated machines. This is a time-tested method and certainly the most cost effective. Budget around $6 for small loads and $10-12 for medium and large loads. Or, if you want the premium experience, drop your clothes off for full service. It's a dollar a pound +$6, so you save a tiny amount the larger your load. They wash everything nicely and even bleach the whites, then fold and package neatly. It's often $20-30 more expensive than doing it yourself but the results are fantastic. I've heard rumors about pick-up/delivery but I can't speak on those services. The employees do wonderful work under stressful conditions. Since moving to the neighborhood I haven't done laundry anywhere else. read more

The machines only take quarters so you have to bring quarters, or cash a they do have a machine that gives you quarters for you cash. Washing machines cost $4.50 (small load) $8.50 (medium load) or $10 (large load). Dryers cost 25c (one quarter) for every six minutes. The men are nice, but the machines don't take always take the quarters well, which is annoying when quarters are the only option to pay. read more

Laundry coin operated machines in Hell's Kitchen. This is the place to go late at night on a rainy day and your pants gets wet. Wash Land Laundry closes at 9:30 PM. Out having diner and then dessert. Totally forgot about the pants in the dryer. Hours listed on Yelp is correct. Ran in and the pants were still in the dryer. Lots of machines available to use. Will be back again. read more

We just got our bed sheets and towels taken from the dryer before they were even done. We are hoping that whoever took them accidentally to please return them. Your bed sheets and pillow covers are still in the Laundromat. So please return them and take back yours. Large machine wash $5 Regular machine wash $2.50 Dry 0.25 for 6 minutes - it will take more than 0.50 to dry your clothes Drop off wash and fold service is available per pound with same day service. A bit more than buck a pound. Detergent, bounce, generic bleach is available for purchase. Change is available at the counter. The Asian lady is a bit rough so fair warning. Watch your wash-she decided to add additional liquid (detergent??) to a customers cycle without his permission. Sucks cuz the customer was very sensitive/allergic to certain detergents. He left, with his wash not completed. The lady wouldn't apologize or refund his wash. read more

Seems like many city dwellers don't do laundry here in New York. They drop it here, and pick up or coordinate a delivery. Employees works very hard. Folding laundry, putting it in a plastic bag, organized piles, and to deliver by bike. I couldn't be able to find a coin operated laundry near by Columbus Circle. 2.50 for a load & 0.25 for 6 minutes don't make me complain. Secure place to do laundry because employees are always there. We were international travellers staying at Dream Midtown on 55th St between 8th Av and Broadway. We used the self-service which was great. 3 options for washers, with small washes $2.75 per load all the way up to larg washes for $7.00. We used the large wash which easily fit a weeks worth of clothes for 2 people (including some bulky jumpers and jeans). The wash worked a treat and the dry was pretty good. Drying on medium heat we did one load for 30 minutes with most things drying correctly. Could've done with an extra quarter in the machine (6 min) but that was my fault. The operator lady's English was so so but then again could've been my accent. They sell all the washing stuff you need, even massive machines bags in case you fold your clothes like we did and they don't fit in what you brought it in. She gave us a plastic bag to deal with the rain outside too which was nice. For anyone travelling into Midtown who needs a wash, this seemed to be the closest we could find and highly recommend from a self-service perspective. If you want a bite to eat while you wait, walk downtown on 9th Av to Island Burgers and Shakes. Good feed and quick service which matches nicely with the wash cycles. read more

Not sure why there are bad reviews. My quarters got stuck in one machine, one staff member kindly got it unstuck and my quarters all went in without any problem. It's was $.2.75 for the regular machines and $6.00 for extra large. They have detergent, chlorox2 and fabric softener for sale. Plenty of machines open on a Monday night at 5pm. This place is a bit grimy inside, but the machines work well. The staff is super-nice (though they will give you a slightly condescending look if you tell them a machine is broken and all they have to do is push the coin slot a little harder than you did to make it work). It can get a bit crowded at peak hours, so i suggest going at 7am on saturdays or sundays so you can watch the people doing the Walk of Shame down 9th ave. while your clothes get clean. Ugh! Too many people in this laundromat, how original it's called 'Laundromat,' and only 3 benches, what do I ride the subway and supposed to sit next to somebody? The 'owners' (I don't even know who they freaking are, like I like to KNOW MY laundromat) didn't play any Skrillex, just some Spanish mariachi pop music. That's not even on my spottily playlist. And WHO even takes Spanish beyond Junior year? Duh, the category for Best Latin Jazz album wasn't even a Grammy category in 2012. ugh. And the other customers, it's like they didn't even WANT to be there. They just sat there on their phones depressingly contemplating their mortality during candy crush breaks. When I do my laundry, I'm trying to have fun around me, not the clickity clank of dryer sheet free loads. When I do laundry I want it to be fun. And their service, it's like when I wanted service I had to actually ASK for it. As if the outside didn't say SELF-SERVICE. I KNOW it says self, BUT THIS SELF WANTS YOU TO DO IT FOR ME FOR FREE. OMG. NONE of the washing machines had Kelvin temperatures included. How cold is cold supposed to be? I don't want these clothes to shrink finally. And I don't use Kelvin, but SOME customers one day MIGHT want to if they would bother going the extra mile. You want me to be specific? Fine. Here's the scoop: I wanted 7 dollars worth of quarters and only had a 10 (fml I know, right?) so when the guy counted out $3 of quarters from a $10 roll then I counted the remaining for $7 of quarters and omg there was one quarter short. And when he made this 25c mistake and I had to walk 10 feet to ask the guy for a gum ball's worth of money back he gave me this snarky flaccid look and asked "Did you check all of your pockets?" as if I wasn't standing there in my PJ's embarrassed to ask for 25c. I don't even have pockets in my jammies or my new Uggs. Ugh! He gave me the dumb quarter but whatever I was so over it by then. The masseuse wouldn't offer Lomi Lomi massage massage so yeah that wasn't an option, and when I requested that one quarters guy from earlier to fold my clothes he couldn't do it for free. On top of that he didn't even know origami animals beyond elephant, swan, octopus or turtle folds. I don't know about you, but when I go to Bikram Yoga on Mondays, I need these lululemon yoggs to be folded like Fieval Mouskewitz; not Speedy Gonzales. I'm not doing Anasara yoga anymore, NOT acceptable. What am I, a Warner Brothers cartoon working on Friend's Universal Principles of alignment? Totes NOtes. Then...all the customers attacked me with BS questions like, "Excuse me, can I grab this basket from under this table?" "Is this your sock on the floor?" "Are you finished folding here?" I came here to relax with my girls, not get hit on by some bearded guy from whatever country pretending to do his laundry trying to peek at my underwear. Then when I was practically rushed off of the table by him, he actually wiped off the table where I JUST folded my clothes as if I wasn't RIGHT THERE and didn't just wash and dry my clothes. Wowzies. NOT fetch. At all. And some dude was eating pizza. Like who does that? And when I left the place it was STILL RAINING outside so my clothes almost got freaking wet. FML soooo mad, I'm never going back except every 6 weeks. As if playing candy crush, streaming music, smelly pizza creeping into my air while Kelvin-free temperatures turn my quarters into thin air with AP Spanish-level music peeking through my stupid Spotify commercials while receiving an inept backrub wasn't nightmare enough, now someone's staring at my body by Victoria collection. blurrrggghghg. Three words of advice if you just moved near this laundromat: WASH AND FOLD I went here ambitiously on my second week in new york and was shocked, humiliated, and left uncomfortable. I went around 10am on a Tuesday, and it was hoppin'. The first thing that I noticed was the frantic, loud Korean woman who owns it. She was constantly yelling at every customer. The machines were fine. Nothing fancy but got the job done. The one thing that did creep me out was this dude who kept staring at me while i was waiting for my clothes to dry (had to run the dryer again about 30 min) and then got closer when i was folding my underwear. I'm not sure if it was the warm room, the smell of laundry and chemical cleaners, or the fact that the owner started yelling at a customer, but i got the courage to yell at this dude. He left, and I just packed up my clothes and got out of there too. Found a cheaper and faster wash and fold service on the west side of 9th ave btwn 54&55. read more

This laundromat inspired me to use a wash and fold service for the first time in my life. (A wash and fold service at a different laundromat, of course.) It seems like a pretty standard laundromat for the area, in terms of price, size, and level of cleanliness. The reason my rating is so low is just that the first time I went here, one of the washing machines ripped one of my dresses. I showed the guy working there and I couldn't tell if he didn't understand or just didn't care. I didn't even expect him to really do anything, I just wanted an acknowledgment that it happened and maybe an apology... no dice. And, I completely agree with the other poster that the dryers in this place are just awful. Every time, I end up just bringing home my still slightly damp clothes and hanging them up to dry the rest of the way. Clothes are expensive to fix and replace, so I would prefer not to bring them back here, where they will be torn and improperly dried. read more

I do not like writing mean reviews but I have no other option at this point. I just spent an hour watching two different people search for my laundry. About half of my work out clothes (I'm a Pilates instructor, so they are good quality), all my underwear, some towels and two sheets were in the bag and my bag was empty - the clothes were no where to be found. I was very polite - I understand mistakes happen, but the lady running the place started telling me I must have forgotten what my bag looked like or I must have already picked them up. The number on the bag didn't even match the ticket on my bag. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!!! I lost at least $300 worth of clothes to them tonight and I cannot afford to just go out and buy new clothes. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but words can't really describe how upset I am right now. On top of it all, the woman was extremely rude to me. There was a younger guy there who seemed nice and I think felt really bad but she kept yelling and told me there was nothing she could do. TERRIBLE customer service - I'm so disappointed. The ladies that work there are very sweet, but I showed up literally minutes after "last wash" and the guy refused to let me wash my chair cover. I understand that last wash is to keep people from staying over business hours, but I politely explained that I just needed a wash only since I can't machine dry. He kept refusing me so I guess they really must not need money. The guy wouldn't even look me in the eye when I explained to him I just needed to wash my seat cover because guests were coming. I went the place on 10/51. Much nicer staff. The equipment here is ok. No frills laundromat and the drop off is super pricey. I go to this place because I live in the same building and like many other HK residents there is no washer/dryer in my apartment. Try not to go there over the weekend, I think weekdays in the afternoon is the best time. Otherwise you have to wait for dryers, since the place also does wash and fold sometimes the use them all at the same time. It's pricier than some other places, but the machines are relatively new and clean. read more
