Sushi Rolls
Kendra C.

3.5 We made a reservation for 6:15 on Friday night and had a good experience. The restaurant wasn't too packed and the service was friendly and quick. The dining area had cute modern decor with good lighting and a lively mood. We ordered several sushi rolls and a bowl of tonkotsu pork ramen. The sushi rolls in general were average; but we really enjoyed Salmon Godzilla and Thunder. The ramen had a rich, savory broth and the portion of pork was generous.

Food: go to sushi spot (beef fried rice is also amazing) Great service and ambience! Happy hour is a great deal

So I ordered this through grubhub. I'm typically really leery about ordering sushi that's not on a coastal state for obvious reasons, but this place wasn't too bad. My driver handed me a bag that looked like it came from a Tiffany & Co store, so I'm guessing this is more of a high-end sushi joint and not an AYCE, which typically have better quality fish anyhow. I ordered the sushi + sashimi for 1. I'm kind of wishing now that I would have ordered individual rolls. This was sort of a chef's hodgepodge of probably what their best sellers are. I had a California roll, I think with ahi. I had a piece of yellowfin, salmon, and a few others. There are also some nice thick slices of ahi and other fish. I would definitely like to go to this place in person, and actually get to explore more of the menu. I think this particular plate was around 35 bucks, so I kind of wish there would have been like a hand roll or maybe another special roll included with it. But all in all not bad. I mean the bag they send your food in probably costs a few dollars itself.

Crispy Brussels Sprouts - veryy oily which makes it yum yum

The food is decent and I definitely had a nice meal :) We got the Tonkotsu Pork Ramen, which was lowkey a lot (I did not end up finishing) and the Crispy Brussel Sprouts which were very good and very fried. The service is amazing! They let us stay wayy longer than we should have T^T Pretty great vibe overall, though the booths felt kinda sticky.... Anyways I recommend!

Takoyaki

Ambience is a great for a first date vibe. It's quiet enough to get some good talking but it's not dead. So you'll still have the chatter of people but not as loud as other places like a pub or family restaurant. The sushi was okay, I wouldn't say it's the best I ever had but it was fairly decent and fresh. The sushi rice was a bit dry, so rather than a soft pillow and good chew sushi rice it was a bit on the harder side. It honestly needed to be cooked with more water or added more sushi vinegar. But the fish itself was good. No fishy smell, bright vivid color to the meat, and the tempura was crispy. So we'll done there. The maki rolls could've been better. They use tempura crisps in their maki rolls as a filler instead of giving more of the fish. So it's a texture that I don't care for. The takoyaki was perfect. Came out hot, fluffy, soft, and perfectly cooked octopus. It was a sweet and savory appetizer with a good crispy outside. The spicy chicken wontons was perfect too. It was sweet savory and a hint of salty and crispy outside with soft inside filling. The dip paired nicely with it. Finally the fried green tea ice cream was perfect. It was cold on the inside, bitter but sweet green tea ice cream, and the crispy coating that wasn't too thick. Overall would come again.

Nice hidden away Asian restaurant. Nice ambiance! So many wonderful choices! I selected Kimchi Ramen. I know, not the best or creative choice but I need kimchi! I was served right away which was nice as I was running late. So tasty!!

This place has is a great food! I came for a work event and it was a great. The service was outstanding and they kept the glass full of water, they ensured that we were taken care of. I ordered a Marylin Monroll and another one that were very tasteful. They have great Old Fashions. They have great appetizers as well. We ordered a few different kinds and they were all good.

Took our boys in for their first sushi session, they loved it. Our server was attentive and was knowledgeable of the menu and what substitutions we could make. Our food was delicious. We went in on a Monday at 730pm and it was busy but we were sat right away. We got the rock and roll roll, spicy crab roll, the crunchy Brussel sprouts which were delicious!, sashimi dinner that came with sushi rice, egg drop soup, and sashimi. The presentation of the food was beautiful and clean. First sushi session was a success & we Will definitely be going back!

First off, this location is BEAUTIFUL. We came just before a huge rush of people, and knowing that there's a wait - we know it's a good place!! I LOVE this sushi place, and am only sad that I haven't came sooner!! I tried the toasted marshmallow drink & was so incredibly pleased. The husband ordered the teriyaki chicken & white rice & the portion was ENORMOUS. As you see from photos below, I also powered through 2 rolls myself - our server was WONDERFUL, he is a bartender sometimes, so he was able to suggest such a cool drink & when I tell you I will return for this drink alone. Yum.

Triple Tuna, Marilyn Monroll, Rock n Roll. EXCELLENT service and very fast delivery of the rolls.

Hello!
Christina W.

Loves it. Likes it. Makes me wanna tryz it... again and again. Located in a great area in Johnston and I keep forgetting to come here when I think of sushi and Thai/Japanese food. During COVID19 review: Ordered through Uber Eats...super fast and super tasty. Ordered the shrimp pad thai, no egg. Awesome amounts of shrimp and veggies. Good pad Thai flavor too. Presentation was very nice for take out! Delivery was over estimated for time but they delivered after ordering 15 minutes. This was during Friday lunch period. Order came to $18.xx for meal, tax, and Uber fee. Before the pandemic, I've visited and enjoyed eating patio side handfuls of times. Great service every time. Atmosphere is lovely. Looking forward to going back soon! Highly recommend for a date night, friends night out, or even a great take out option.

Starting with the egg rolls, when I took a bite, they were still frozen in the middle, and the wrapper inside wasn't even fully cooked. I did call the restaurant to let them know, and to their credit, they offered to remake them, which I do appreciate. However, things didn't improve much from there. I paid extra to substitute fried rice instead of steamed rice, but what I received was essentially just steamed rice with a slight tint. There were no vegetables, no eggs, and no real flavor. Charging extra for that level of quality is frustrating. The sesame chicken was also underwhelming. It tasted like plain battered chicken tossed in a sauce that had little to no flavor. I actually had to try to doctor it up at home just to make it enjoyable. The crab rangoons were okay, but nothing special. For a $30 meal, I expected much better quality and flavor. I hate to say this, especially since they've just opened, but based on this experience, it didn't feel worth the money.

We were greeted by a very friendly waitress, and she had us sit down because we were dining in and she would take our orders and bring our food. We started with crab Rangoon and they were hot and fresh. They were pretty good, but perhaps a bit more shell than the yummy insides. I had Mongolian beef. It was tender with fresh vegetables, but did not taste like the Mongolian beef that you normally have. It was rather plain so I added soy sauce. The accompanying rice was fresh and good. Friend had cashew chicken. Same thing - - wasn't like cashew chicken she ever had before. It actually had lots of green and red peppers and she had to pick those off. The lunch meals only come with rice. The place is clean and bright. I think I would give it another chance to see if I could find something a little more flavorful.

We try one new restaurant each month just to keep things fresh, so this time I suggested Fawn's. I'm really glad we did. I had heard so many great things about the food so I was excited to try it. When I saw the menu, though, I was a little nervous because they serve Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Laotian food. In my experience, restaurants that try to serve all kinds of Asian food rarely do one or all of them well. I ordered Pad Thai and my husband got Evil Jungle Prince. I was very pleased. It was the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. It was SO good! My husband loved his dish, too. It had chicken and vegetables with a spicy sauce made with red curry and coconut milk. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. We each got two meals out of our dinners. I love it when that happens. The place isn't fancy. It's in a small strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside it's very clean and well-kept. There's not much for ambience besides two flat screen TVs. It doesn't matter because it's the food that really stands out. The service was excellent, too. My husband had his iced tea refilled twice without even asking. Great affordable food and good service. What more can you ask for? If you love Asian food, give them a try. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes.

After they bought the business and before rebranding to Ariyan they did away with the all you can eat sushi option. Understandable, but it's one of the things that made Oh Sushi as popular as it was. Though the variety of options was less that Izumi or other buffets who offer ayce sushi in the metro... The quality of the sushi at Oh Sushi was above and beyond. This elimination really disappointed me at the time as well as others. That being said I knew that eventually I would get to Ariyan. My daughter and I stopped in this past Saturday for lunch. Parking is available in two nearby lots and on the street. Seating is all low top tables and chairs with a bench along the South wall. The decor is the same for the most part. Tasteful and modern yet traditional. The host station is now in the Southwest corner v. the Southeast corner (closest to the door). I'm not sure why they made that change... It seems a little awkward for the host station to be that far away from the door. It also eliminated one of my favorite tables to sit at... The menu is extensive with a wide selection of sushi and rolls. They also have some typical Chinese and Thai options available. I was happy to see two of my favorite rolls still on the menu. We ordered: 1x Anger Management roll 1x Black Panther roll 1x Orange chicken (spice level 3 with white rice) 1x Miso soup (came free with our order...one of the specials) 2x Waters Service was good. The young lady serving us was attentive and seemed nice. The specials were a little hard to follow... At the time we were there they were running 15% off of select items and a free side. I'm still not sure what we ordered to get the free side... Lol I tried a piece of my daughter's orange chicken. I liked it. The sauce had good flavor. The breading was starting to fall off and I think she would have preferred it a little more crispy. The heat level for a 3 was appropriate. The base flavors of my two rolls were the same as they used to be. Same components and sauces, but there was a weird grit to both rolls. It was hard for me to pin down what exactly it was. I'm still not sure if it was just a different rice or something else... Despite the difference in texture they were both good. But not the same... I shouldn't have expected them to be. While I was overall happy with my experience at Ariyan I'm not sure it's enough to make me drive over to Beaverdale anymore. I can get similar menu options at any of the Wasabis, Cool Basil, or Mandarin closer to where I live in the metro. I realize this review is somewhat jaded since I'm comparing it to the former business model... A place I held close to my heart. I almost wish Ariyan had changed it up 100% and not tried to carry over pieces of the Oh Sushi menu and experience, but not all of it. I would still encourage you to try Ariyan out! Especially if you are close to the Beaverdale area...! It might end up being your favorite new spot for sushi and Asian cuisine! https://www.facebook.com/ariyandsm/
