Nice little spot I never new existed until today. Walking/Biking/Jogging paths, picnic areas, dog park, fields and even a beach. Park was clean except for the abhorrent amount of dog poop everywhere. They provide dog poop bags and trash cans so there really is no need for people not cleaning up after their dogs. Plenty of parking throughout the park. read more

A nice neighborhood park in Warwick, RI. This place has a paved walking/bike path that is three miles long. Also, it has baseball fields, picnic areas, restrooms, a dog park, and Buttonwoods Beach. The roads to get into the park is windy and even creepy at night. There's even an old cemetery in there. A playground is available for the little ones. The beach is on the small side and I personally think it doesn't look too clean; it does the job with cooling you down if you don't want to drive to the beaches in South county. The park is serene but it does get busy in the summer; you might have a hard time finding parking at the beach parking lot, in season. The path is really nice and paved with some hilly parts. I've biked and walked it many times and the view of the Narragansett Bay is beautiful. A great spot to walk your dog, exercise, bike, bird watch, and it's handicap accessible. read more

Very pretty city park and I feel well qualified to say that since I ran a half marathon in and around the park using its trails. Great views and tree cover, plus some fun small hills to give you a workout. read more

What a great park! Came here for a run while visiting Warwick. This is a fairly large park and features several baseball fields, a huge dog park, a beach and a fitness trail. It is very well maintained and I felt safe while visiting. My fiance and I decided to run on the trail that goes around the perimeter of the park. By my Garmin, it was just over 2.5 miles. The path is asphalt and it's well maintained. Signs say it's one direction (sort of clockwise) and recommend walkers to the left and bikers to the right. On a Saturday morning around 7:30 we saw a few bikers and several walkers and one other runner. It's fairly flat on the southern side but there are a variety of rolling hills on the north part so it will give you a little challenge. You may want to put on some bug spray before going on the trail. The bugs were feasting on my ankles. Really nice to see dedicated, well-kept green space like this. read more

This is an underrated gem of Warwick. There are lovely paved paths with nice views. They also have a story walk.

I have grown to totally love walking the trails in this beautiful bayside park! Every inch of the trails are so beautiful. I love the fact that I am in the woods, but I am walking on a paved trail. The sights of coves and the bay are lovely & I enjoy meeting so many dogs being walked by their owners. Very picturesque and yet so close to the city streets and establishments! read more

Warwick City Park - Shore at sunset - Parks Near Me - Warwick, Rhode Island

I've been taking my dog to the North Kingstown dog park, but lately, for whatever reason (perhaps this unseasonably cool weather?) it's been missing one key ingredient - the dogs! So on Friday evening, I took my Labrador retriever, Rosie-Roo, to the dog park inside Warwick City Park instead. It was our first visit. We arrived around 7 p.m., and boy, were there dogs - lots of 'em! Now, Rosie has only interacted with one or two dogs at a time, but there had to be about a dozen dogs there. I was hesitant to bring her inside, for two reasons: One, I was not sure how she'd react around a large number of dogs. Two, she is not spayed yet, so I'm always nervous bringing her around un-neutered male dogs. In a less-busy park, it's easy to ask another dog owner if their male dog is neutered, but I wasn't sure how to proceed, so at first, I stayed outside the fence. Fortunately, another dog owner noticed my hesitation, and I voiced those two concerns. He told me there were two un-neutered male dogs, but assured me the dog owners there, who are regulars, keep very close tabs on their dogs and would intervene as necessary. So, Rosie and I took the plunge .... Now, I'm no expert in animal behavior, but when a newcomer enters the dog park, it can be a bit intimidating, as the dogs all rush over to meet the new dog. There's some tackling, chasing, rough-housing, barking, etc. that goes on, as the dogs determine their rank in "the pack". Rosie was in the middle of a very intense dog pile, that resembled a very physical football game, minus the football. None of the dogs were vicious, and Rosie took it all in stride. As expected, some of the male dogs, shall we say, 'took a liking' to Rosie, but as the man who initially greeted me promised, all of the owners were very attentive and either pulled their male dog away from mine, or activated an electronic collar designed to stop unwanted behavior. One German shepherd with one of those collars was a quick learner ... after a few times of trying to get frisky with my dog, he left her alone. Eventually, things settled down. Rosie became an accepted member of the pack, and I was able to relax a bit. Rosie and a black dog who was about her size got along very well, and she enjoyed the wrestling and running. I read the other reviews of this dog park on Yelp, but I did not experience any negatives they wrote about. I did not step in dog poop, and owners cleaned up after their dogs, as far as I could see. I found the owners who were there between 7 and 8 p.m. Friday to be friendly, helpful and attentive to their dogs. Some reviewers complained about the fact the dog park is sand, not grass. I suppose grass would be the ideal surface, but it would require more maintenance and would probably not stand up to heavy dog traffic. The sand seems to be a more dog-friendly surface than wood chips (I imagine sand would be easier on dogs' paws). And, it really wasn't as messy on my dog as I thought it would be. It's probably more of an issue for us humans - I didn't have the best choice of footwear for my first visit, and will definitely wear my work boots next time, instead of moccasins. All in all, it was a good first outing for Rosie and me. I definitely plan to bring her back. I have an appointment to have her spayed next month, and after she heals from the surgery, we'll be able to enjoy the dog park even more. read more

The beauty of Warwick City Park is quite nice at any time of year. Winter too, but I can only imagine it to be just as amazing. It's quite blissful and mesmerizing. It's nice to visit other parts of Rhode Island this time around. Last time was in Newport and Providence, this time it is in Warrick. I was here on a lovely Saturday morning in May 2019 to run multiple laps around Warrick City Park and have fun doing so with a small group of like minded people and friends. One lap was less than 3 miles, which was a small sized park for Warrick, Rhode Island. I did enjoy the views of bay on the bike path, which was amazing and a feast for the eyes and the mind, especially when you see a lot of tress on the trail, water and lots of it seems to be the break your mind wants to see during these multiple laps. Practically, all of the walking paths are multi use for walking, running, and cyclists. The path is wide enough to have both cyclists and runners together, but best bet is to avoid each other on the path to be safe for all involved while crossing. Since it was on a Saturday morning, it was a beautiful morning for a run here in beautiful Warrick Rhode Island and what a nice end to a crazy marathon / half marathon series called The New England Challenge. Warrick Community Park was the venue for such a challenge here in Rhode Island and it was very nice and beautiful in 2019. The overall experience here at Warrick City Park was definitely ideal for just about anything legal and outdoorsy. Perfect for families with young kids and anyone who loves the outdoors. I myself enjoyed the views of the bay and the greenery that encapsulated the area. The park itself was kept clean by the good folks of the city of Warrick, I'd imagine. There were multiple parking areas around the park at various junctions. The main parking area probably had over 30 parking spaces, whereas the others had maybe 10-15 a piece. Like all community parks out there, there is no admission fee associated with this park, so you can come here anytime you want, assuming park hours are enforced from 7am to 10pm daily. For the most part though, I enjoyed my time here at Warrick City Park and I encourage you to come here if you are in the area. I enjoyed myself and hope you will too. After completing my long distance event, I took the time to dip my weary feet into the cove, where the water was semi murky at that time. The water was semi cold and it felt so good after running a long distance that morning. If you feel the need, Warrick City Park has a Beach section that has great views overlooking the bay. It's not just the walking trails that makes the park awesome, it's the beach and open water that attracts many to come here too. I spent about 45 minutes in the water and soaking up the Saturday morning before heading north towards Boston. There were a few people enjoying the beach that morning and possibly the best kept secret in Warrick, Rhode Island. The park is located at 185 Asylum Road here in Warrick. I probably stayed in the park for about 6 1/2 hours that morning before we headed out. It was an enjoyable and scenic moment of my time here in Rhode Island. I'd recommend coming here, if you are in the area. It's nice to come and de stress yourself after a day of travel or a tough day at the office. The bay will help calm yourself and put some perspective in your life. It helped me see the bigger picture, when it came down to it and thats meaningful and soul enriching. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+ read more

I love this city park! There are a ton of trails to go on--you can walk to the beach, walk to the baseball fields, or enjoy a stroll through pathways that are enveloped by trees. I loved coming here during summertime because the trees shaded me from the hot sun and I was still able to enjoy a walk with my dog. Very dog friendly park and lots of trash cans every 1/4 of a mile or so. I also love bringing my dog to the dog park to socialize with other dogs. Owners do a great job of picking up after their dogs. They also are adding a water fountain for dogs so that's exciting! read more

Sadly, this park is a disgrace... because of BAD DOG OWNERS! I had high hopes for this park, but after leaving and sniffing in my car and thinking "WTF?", I realized there was dog poop all over my shoes. Seriously people, pick up after your dog(s). It was all over the place. If you don't want to clean up, stay home and step in your own dog's shit. read more

Warwick Park is also called City Park by the locals and it is a hidden away so only the locals really know where it is. It has several picnics areas, large playing fields and even a dog running area. There is a lot of undeveloped area, plenty of trees and a small beach for swimming. Since it is surrounded by water on 3 sides. there are some lovely views. City Park also has a bike path around the perimeter. It's only 3 or so miles so not much for biking but it is a great place for a short walk since the path goes through the woods and by a lot of nice water views. The park does get a bit crowded in the summer but there is plenty of parking and in the winter it is a nice place for some quiet since it is frequently deserted. read more

Wonderful medium size park. Contains a loop trail about three miles long, mostly flat, paved suitable for walking or biking and several unpaved trails. Also has a dog park, ball fields, picnic area and beach access. Small parking area, enough for weekdays but probably overrun on weekends and nice summer days. Separate parking area for the beach. The entire park seems well maintained. read more

We recently moved to Warwick last week. We decided to try out Buttonwoods Dog Park with our three pups. I'm not usually a fan of dog parks as not all owners are are diligent about watching their pups and accidents can and do occur. Anyway, we walked in the small dog area with our 3 ready to have an afternoon of fun. The first odd thing that happened was when we first entered some really strange woman walked over to us and just stood there with her arms crossed. I said hello and walked past her. She never said a word just kept staring at us in a confrontational manner. We met a really nice family with sn adorable terrier mix that our pups loved. Great! Then this larger white dog came running over full speed and rammed full force into our 14 year old dog. Knocked him flat. Our pup started crying. He's blind and was minding his own business. The family that owned him did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation! They all just stared at me. I was furious but let it go. I rescue and I know there are clueless (stupid) pet owners out there. But if that were my dog that rolled another dog he'd be leaving the park for the day. I decided to be the bigger person and let the situation go. When I walked past there was a really old couple and I complimented their dog. They just stared at me and not in a friendly manner. What the heck is wrong with the people at this dog park? I can't recommend anyone new going there. Owners with the exception of Breezys family are cliquish and rude. Not a good first time experience and we won't be back. Those people deserve each other read more

What a great hidden RI gem! I am not sure what some of the other reviewers problems were (one star because you stepped in poop?) but I find this park to be a great place to go for a jog, sit on the beach of just to take a stroll. It is never very busy and there is always a parking spot near the spot we are heading. The paved bike/walking path is exactly 3 miles and there are posted signs every half-a-mile. It is one way and bikes stay on the right, walker/runners to the left but not everyone follows those simple rules but it is a small price to pay. It is a great path to take small kids on a bike ride since it loops around with plenty of "shortcuts" if the kids get tired - unlike the bigger bike paths that require you to completely backtrack if the kids want to stop. There are also bench's placed along the course to take a pit-stop and enjoy the views. The beach is a beach - with no crowds and no traffic you can sit on the beach watching your kids playing in the water while your friends are waiting in traffic to pay ten dollars to get into some of the bigger beaches in the state. If you live in the area consider yourself lucky to have such a place to go to, free of charge, and take advantage of it! read more

I recently discovered the beach here- I figured it existed becauseof the water views but never took the time to explore. We took the dog for a sunset walk on the beach (yes we brought poopie bags). It was peaceful, easy parking and quite nice for an evening stroll on the beach where the dog could enjoy the smells and sights of the ocean. I also just want to address the dog park here. I am a self proclaimed overprotective momma to my dog and so I am leary about where I will allow my boy to be set off leash. I find that owners do not really adhere to the basic rules- small dogs in one pen and large in the other. There are small dogs immersed. I get the concept of the dog park but there is just something sort of unsettling as there are so many different types, sizes and temperaments of dogs all loose while owners seem to be very focused on their own socializing either with other owners or by cell phone. I will utilize this park but only if there are no other dogs or dogs who we know well. read more

I love having a park so close to home. The park has a nice walk/bike path with some great views of the water. Warwick city park also has a beach area and a fenced in dog park(which my dog loves as much as I do). The areas are kept clean and there is a small playground for kids. If you haven't been get outside and go for a walk or a romp at the park with the dog. You will enjoy yourself and your pet will thank you. The dog park is great but has some downsides, there is no grass in the fenced in dog area so your dog will be a filthy mess when he or she is done rolling around. Not all dogs are dog park dogs and the large dog side of the park can get a little intense from time to time depending on who is over there. I have a medium sized dog and I keep him on the small dog side and normally have no issues. Make sure to bring a clean water bowl and fresh water because with all the dirt comes muddy gross bowls and water. Please also bring doggie bags and clean up after your pet. The park does a pretty good job of keeping a supply of them available but they do tend to run out from time to time. All things considered the park is a great place that Warwick can be proud of, so let us all enjoy it!! read more

I want to give an updated, upgraded review of the park. I starting using the walking trails and I'm a huge fan. They're generally kept free of debris and snow and are great for those of us who want to get out and enjoy the fresh air. Nothing challenging about these paths - but for a brisk walk, they serve the purpose. I especially enjoy the lovely water views as you walk along. read more

Such a great place to walk the dog. The trees along the water makes it cool to walk in the summer heat. The park is HUGE

Awesome park tucked away in Warwick! 2.5 mile walking/bike path is what I utilize the most. Great to walk even in the winter. They say it closes by dusk/dark but we've been in there way later and no one has given us a problem although a Warwick Police cruiser does go through. There is a playground and a little beach with bathrooms, although the women's has been closed for awhile according to my wife. Great areas for baseball soccer games or just open fields to hang out in or throw a football/frisbee or whatever you'd like to do in an open field. Dog park near the fields but I don't own a dog. Never hit that up much. They do have a small radio controlled car track that I always see a few people using. I've been meaning to buy something to use on the track but haven't found the time. I am jealous of those that live close by as we live about 10-15 minutes away but it's worth the drive to walk/run/bike, chill by the water, play some sports or just have a picnic. read more

I love taking my little pooch to the dog park here. They have two sections- one for bigger breeds, one for smaller ones like my own. For the most part the owners are aware of their dog's temperament and keep an eye to make sure everyone is behaving and having fun. The only thing the dog park could use is a water hose. I've seen other parks provide these and its a nice way to keep the pups cool in the summer and refresh those water bowls. The park itself is nice as well. There is a great 3 mile walking/biking path that is through a mostly wooded area so great for a summer afternoon. The beach seems fairly clean although I've never actually gone in the water here, just walked along the shoreline a bit. They have a playground for the kids and a few picnic tables. I believe there is a restroom building there as well, near the playground, but it is only open during the summertime. Other features: a ballpark, roller hockey rink, and a dirt pit for remote control cars. read more

CITY PARK DOG PARK: If you live in West Warwick or Warwick there are not many options for dog parks, City Park has you covered. This is about two acres of fenced area for your little friend to run and frolic with his buddies. The dog park is mostly dirt (kind of like a big litter box) and has no extras other than some plastic chairs and a bench for the people to sit on. If you bring your dog make sure to bring a bowl and some water as there is no hose or other water source in the area. Also, if your dog is a jumper be careful, the fence is very low in areas and it doesn't take much to get over! This is definitely not the best dog park I have been to, not even close, but I really can't complain as it is free and there are usually a bunch of other dogs for my baby to play with. One great thing about this park seems to be the people; everyone I meet is very friendly and I have had some great conversations with the other owners. read more

Great FREE community location, beautiful landscape includes plenty of trees and shade, a paved walking/running/bike path, hockey rinks, multiple fields for use in youth sports (we have had soccer, football and even baseball practice here!), picnic tables in some areas, a small private beachfront of sand and designated swimming area with lifeguard on duty during normal business hours, restrooms, playgrounds, dog park that has separate areas for large and small pups, plenty of open grassy fields to let the kids run and play, so so many possibilities for families looking to spend the day outdoors! I have to add, I have visited the beach a few times now and for some reason you do not get the ocean breeze in this location?? Maybe bc it is a small cove? Water is clean enough to swim in designated area but I would recommend water shoes as it seems a bit mucky. Overall, what an awesome spot to have available for anyone! City park is one of those hidden gems. Tucked into a residental neighborhood, Warwick City Park has a little of everything. Someone was murdered on the bike path here in 2013. Why has that not been mentioned by anyone?
