This park has made major improvements over the last few years to help keep it clean and safe. Several years ago, this beautiful waterfront property was an amusement park. After the amusement…read morepark closed, Rocky Point was abandoned for several years until the state of RI purchased it and reopened the property as a state park. You can still see the remnants of some of the rides, and there are informative signs throughout displaying the history of the property. I love the walking paths here, and I especially love poking around the shoreline at all of the little beach areas (some which are only accessible at low tide) and looking for shells and seaglass. Several of the walking paths are paved and are wheel chair accessible, and others a just a little more rugged with some climbing over rocks to get down to the shoreline. I also love the large fishing pier and this weekend my daughter and I relaxed on one of the benches out at the end of the pier and just enjoyed the sunshine. Rocky Point is an awesome place to spend time outdoors.

It serves the Masonic community and local youth programs. The grounds have several service oriented programs. The pool is used weekdays by youth service organizations like boys and girls clubs. I have been to Country Clubs that don't approach the standards that they maintain. The grounds are extremely well maintained and the views are spectacular. The staff is helpful and attentive to the grounds and the guests. The management is exceptional. They also provide good job experience for local high school and college students in the summer season. More than once I have just biked down with a book and just relaxed for a few hours. I can't have a negative thought about the facility and the services that they provide for the community. They are amazing.

There are stairs down, and a decent amount to be prepared for that both starting and finishing your trip. There are also some "bridges" over waterfalls with visible openings. Certainly safe, but just a heads up. I took a short stroll around the pond and then up to the left, walking behind the water. There are trail markers which is helpful. A nice quiet spot to enjoy a little time out in nature if you happen to be in the area; oh and parking on site which is always a plus. Can't wait to come back and explore more in the Spring.

Along that route are parts of a kids story book that engages with passerby.

The park holds a lot of sentimental value for the city because it houses the Roger Williams statue and tomb. Personally, I appreciate how well maintained the park is and how peaceful it is. On warmer days, it can get a little busy, but it's a great place to relax. When I'm need of a little reprieve I like to bring my blanket and meditate on the grass. I also appreciate its location being so close to Brown and downtown Providence simultaneously. It's convenient and peaceful.

A beautiful and historic park with views of downtown Providence. It is located right on a hill and has the statue and tomb of Roger Williams with his hand out. There were benches and a small path throughout. A great place to picnic, watch the sunset, and just relax. The Rhode Island State House and Providence Place Mall can be seen from there. There is no parking lot just street parking. The houses nearby are historic. This was a frequent stop for author HP Lovecraft. No wonder it is called "The Jewel of the City".
