After negotiation with my neighbors and the utility company, I was ready to move forward. They offered a free estimate and the guy they sent was outstanding and explained to my neighbor and I what needed to be done (Jesus). They quoted me a very fair price and showed ultimate patience while I collected the money. Once I called them, they were ready to start the next day! They sent Marcelo and Diego and both of them did an outstanding job keeping me in the loop and fixing and filling my hole. I also greatly appreciate how clean they left the back area. There was a little bit of confusion with the hydro jetting, but Marcelo was able to work through it and provided some of the best service I have ever gotten from a repair company. I am glad that Yelp steered me to this place. They were very nice, very good, and kept me in the loop the whole time. I really appreciated them sending me texts of what the workers look like and their names. Thank you to Jesus, Diego, and Marcelo!

I did find that J Sewer and Drain to be overpriced for the job that was done. However, they do offer a 10% senior discount which helped reduce the cost.

Communication with First Chicago, as well as updates the day of were great - they let me know when they were coming, and showed up pretty close to that time window, which is all you can ask for! Alek and Chris came out to address the issue, and showed us what was going on, as well as why it happened. They were great to talk with, as well as educate us a bit on plumbing, as this is an area both my wife and I are not experts in at all. The fix was prompt, and I feel very relieved and overly satisifed by the job they did, and how quickly they did it. I can't speak too much to value, not knowing too much about the cost of these projects. However, I can say that I was charged the amount that I was initially quoted, which is always appreciated. To me, the amount I paid for the work they did, as well as peace of mind that any potential leaks are addressed, was acceptable. I will absolutely recommend First Chicago Plumbing to my neighbors and friends if they have any issues with plumbing. Thank you Team! A+

I'm very disappointed with how our service call was handled. We contacted Apex because we had an…read moreactive kitchen drain blockage in a multi-unit condo building, with wastewater already backing up into the lower unit. Apex knew the line was clogged, yet the technician arrived with a rented camera and without a rodding machine or the equipment needed to actually clear the blockage. The camera could not get past the heavy grease/sludge obstruction, so the inspection was never completed. We were still charged approximately $700, and then told Apex would need to return the next day with a rodding machine for an additional charge. This was especially frustrating because the purpose of the visit was to diagnose and help resolve an active blockage. Sending a technician without the equipment needed to open the line meant the visit did not restore flow or prevent another backup. That night, around 3:00 AM, wastewater overflowed again and flooded areas of my kitchen. We later learned that another established Chicago sewer company quoted roughly $250-$300 for a camera inspection, which made the HOA feel that the amount we paid for an incomplete camera attempt was excessive. I understand that every company has its own pricing and equipment policies, but the bigger issue for us was the way the job was scoped. For an active sewer/drain blockage, I would have expected Apex either to arrive prepared to clear and camera the line during the same visit, or to clearly explain beforehand that the camera could not be completed without a separate rodding service. At this point, we do not plan to continue using Apex for this issue. I hope management reviews how this call was dispatched and priced, because this experience left both me and the HOA feeling that we paid a substantial amount without getting the problem resolved, zero value.

Okay, I got the picture, someone wanted into my house immediately. I yelled that I was on my way and scrambled to the door. I opened the door to find our head engineer, who gestured at water soaking the hallway carpet- coming from my home. Uhhh. Ughhhh. I grabbed my house guard and let him in. He spent some time clearing the way, looking at the problem and said: "You need a Plumber". My heart sank. Dollar signs danced before my eyes. Visions of disaster loomed. I asked the engineer if he could shut off the water heater and recommend an excellent plumber who I could have come out, possibly the next day (I did not want to pay emergency rates unless I had to do so). He did both. Weinberg was exceptional about scheduling. Normally they are booked weeks/months out. They fit me in within almost 24 hours of my call. They came out, looked at the problem, we discussed the best, most economical way to handle the situation, and we proceeded. I did NOT need a new hot water heater, Yahoo! My problem was fixed, I had hot water, no leaks, and am thrilled. I now have Weinberg listed as Plumber in my contacts. I fully understand why my building has confidence in them, I do too! Oh, the other FANTASTIC thing that happened? MY visions of doom, horrible prices? NO way, NO how! My bill was more than reasonable for the service.

I manage the apartment building that I live in, and frequently require the services of contractors when units need to be serviced. I had gone the cheap route and hired plumbers from craigslist a few times - I saved money, but the results were always temporary and terrible. The last time I needed a plumber, I decided to look for longevity in business as well as skill level of employees, rather than experience another craigslist horror-story. I called around to several local companies and decided on the bid from Weinberg Plumbing. The difference in my experience with Matt versus my previous craigslist plumber was like night and day. Matt clearly explained what the process would be, and then made recommendations to me on what needed to be done immediately, what could wait a few months, and what would just be nice to do. It was SO REFRESHING for someone to speak to me like a normal person! All the work was completed very quickly - but not TOO quickly - and was done correctly. I'll be using their services the next time my building needs plumbing work - no more craigslist junk-jobs in my building. I guess if you really want something done well, you have to spend a little more money and hire the professionals. Lesson learned!
